I was recommended this book by my nook. I fell in love with the book and author. The thrill and intrigue the author puts into words, has you reading on and on. The CIA agent has espionage in his old life and current. He hasn't lost his skill after five years of a new life. Everyone thought he was killed. Once he is found, all the countries want him, he is loyal to his country and saves the day. Anyone who read Ludlum and Clancy will love this book. I can't wait to read his others.
Fine for a vacation read. If you've read spy novels before, there's not a lot here that's new. An exiled spy is recruited by a villain, exiled spy seeks revenge and redemption against old enemies. The protagonists are sometimes helped by allies who are motivated only by altruism or good feelings towards the protagonists, which seems like a deus ex machina. The book was written before 9/11 and the Iraq War and in 2022 it sounds out of date.
This is an entertaining novel for the most part. The writing is solid and there are several plot lines that intersect providing a good story. Lots of globetrotting and political maneuvering but more action would have made the novel better overall.
