Parched #2

The Seventh Sister

Rate this book
"He’s watching me with wide eyes; I know he felt it too.... The vampire fills me with warmth but the Wek makes my soul flutter."

Zillael hates high school and the tiny one horse town she lives in. She has no friends and no social life, both by choice. All of that changes the afternoon the fog rolls in and she soon finds herself face to face with three parched vampires.

But Zill also has a secret ability and as she uses it to fight blow by blow with the vampires, she’s shocked when Derek Firth, the most popular boy in school, who she was quite rude to earlier in the day, jumps in to help her take them out.

Zill slowly comes to realize that her world is not what it seems. Derek isn’t just the nice, likable guy that all the girls crush on and all the teachers praise; he’s a Wek. And, the fourth vampire that got away, well, he’s bonded to her in the craziest way.

Zill soon finds herself falling for the Wek and the vampire at the same time. She’s also learning that she’s not super strong with kick butt abilities for nothing. She has a purpose in life, and on the day the fog rolls back into town, she finds herself on the verge of discovering what that is.

I was worried coming in to this book, mainly because Zill is a teenager in high school and thought it may go all Twilight on me ... but I didn't get that feeling at all and thought the book was excellent. I enjoyed the characters and the story development, but there was the abrupt ending.

I did read Parched before I read this book. As I said in that review: I am thinking there will be more books and the abrupt endings will make more sense or these stories will continue on in another book, which would help me out a lot. :)

Even though I read these consecutively, I do not think they need to be read in order. I believe this book is offered for free right now on amazon.

Okay. I really liked this. But, this wasn't the first book in the series. And apparently, each book is about a different "sister"...? Who are going to do,...what!? I don't know. Even though I liked this book quite frankly I don't have the energy to wait for each book to come out and add yet another story to the last book that doesn't necessarily include any of the characters from the previous book.

A poorly executed story in which nothing much happens. Zillael has discovered that she isn't like other people, and finds herself torn between two other supernatural beings--one entirely non-threatening good guy and one rebel with a cause. None of the characters are particularly well developed outside of their stereotypes.

I did not care for this book. Someone was trying to copy the Twilight book and the further you got into the book the more weird scenarios and characters came into play and more questions because it really didn't make sense. Then I see "The End". If that was supposed to hook me into the next book if failed miserably!

Fabulous book. I got it off for free on Amazon but I'm willing to spend the money on the others. The only thing is that there are a number of gramma errors but it was easy to overlook them because of the entertainment factor. Still, its always nice to read an error free book. Loved it

Interesting

A gentle story of a girl who is just finding out that she is not who she thought she was. There are two males who seem interested in her. The story just gets interesting when the book finishes which is really frustrating.

I really enjoyed this 3rd book in the Parched Series. The storyline continues bringing another sister into the fold. I love how the sisters are able to interact and talk with each other. I can't wait to read the next book!!

Hungry for more of this one

I was riveted to the whole, too short, story. I know it's part of a series, but it sure ended too soon and too abruptly.

Inconsistencies galore, all of the worst tropes from YA ( not like other girls, love triangle, creepy age differences, etc). Do yourself a favour and don't read this.

Mis-titled

Missing development of seven sisters. And who are the vampires. Not traditional vampire theory but alternative vampire community and relationships not explained.

Two become three

The main character is a high school girl, a loner, who resents being moved from New York to a small town. She's sarcastic, has no friends and an absentee parent that travels continually for work. Nothing too exciting or unusual, right? But, this girl can 'walk' the 10 miles to school in a few minutes, fight like an accomplished MMA fighter (with no training) and very strangely, can hear one of her teachers in her head.
Lilleal is obviously not an ordinary hostile teen. She doesn't know WHAT she is, but she does know she's not like everybody else. After three years in this school, things start getting strange. That's when she hears Mr. Lux in her head, the hottest guy in school won't take no for an answer to hang out, and oh yeah, she learns vampires, called Seleel's exist and she can kill them.
A small amount amount of violence, no sex. Suitable for mature young teens.

Zill is just a normal girl in her last year of high school and is getting ready to go out and head to college and yet something strange happens, something that shakes her foundations and makes her wonder about what she is.

The story is short, personally I felt there was no point in making it that short, the reader gets no answers to any questions until near the end and even then the answers aren't really explains in any detail at all.

Is this a good book?
Yes it is.

Should it be longer?
Yes!

Zill sounds like she should be a really good character, she should be interesting and the reader should like how she's very much a kick-ass girl, but I found that it floundered, it got her into a triangle between two guy's and it just... it didn't work. I liked the almost sexual relations Zill had with the vampire but the whole triangle just didn't cut it for me, it felt a bit too out of place considering Derek wasn't a human but a Wek and from what I understood from the book is that a Wek doesn't really have certain emotions, they replicate the human's around them to make them seem normal.

The book didn't hook me either, so i don't really want to go out and buy the other books to see what is going on, because there was nothing to make me be hooked onto it. A love triangle? Really? In every single YA book that I have read it's always been some kind of love triangle, could we leave the triangle out?

It's a good read, passes the time, but I wouldn't bother to read the rest of the series.

I usually hate reading books out of order but nabbed this as a freebie and needed it for a reading challenge so here we are. It actually wasn't bad at all! Weks are introduced which are sort of like guardians but there not and we have vampires called Selell which are sorta vampires but different.

I love the interactions between the characters because Zill is a grump if you ask me to put it in a nice way but then she gets picked on alot which is hard for me to understand because she is supposedly beautiful. It's just hard to believe a pretty person getting picked on but anyhow it has hardened her to her classmates and town and she just wants to finish highschool and move far far away until she runs into 3 Selell at a school dance and starts to really really notice that hey something is kinda different about myself as well!

One of my favorite quotes was Zill saying to Derek "You just called me a bitch!" and he replies "But that's not a bad thing. See what I meant was you're an unapologetic hard ass.!"

This is a series worth reading. I am not obsessed and totally freaked out like I was with Twilight and Tithe but I can say this. Tithe and Patched worth almost the same. To some Patched probably is better.

Unfortunatelly I read the first book of the series way too fast, leaving inportand pages unread, in order to see the endand now I have no idea who the heroine is. So now I have to reread the first book.

What I got though is that its written in a weird way. The seventh sisterlooks like it could be a whole new series by itself or if written differently it could be a very long chapter of Patched.(if written the way breaking dawn is written.Maybe.)Or maybe, again if written differently, Patched could be a seventh sister chapter.

It definetelly doesnt look like the second book of thew series since the first one is focused on the other two forbidden couples: FGawn-Lario and Baron-Clarity.

This doesnt minimize the value of the series because both books are welly written with excellent characters and well developed plot. I enjoyed them both very much.

This book stopped me from getting any work done. I was hooked to it, and actually sad that it was short; it did inspire me to definitely go and look for other books by this author though, and I'm glad that The Seventh Sister is part of a series, I'll definitely be looking out for it, and more than likely buying it the moment I have money.

I loved the fact that it was all new; the idea of weks, and vampires who aren't really vampires. There was a lot to take in, but the author puts it in slowly and gives you time to adjust. I was a little surprised with the scene in her room, but it was tasteful.

It was a wonderful book, and I don't have many words to discribe it, but whatever I'm thinking, it's definitely good.

I got book for free and when I got around to reading it, had forgotten it was part of a series. I am not giving this book a star rating because I started to reading it, but could not get into it. Maybe if I'd read the first book in the series, I might have had a different reaction to this one. I will probably get at least the first book to give this a series a fair shot as I do enjoy reading series.

The other books in the series:
Parched, A Paranormal Romance (Parched, book One)
Quenched, A Paranormal Romance (Parched, book Three)
The Fifth Sister, A Paranormal Romance (Parched, book Four)
Ignite, A Paranormal Romance (Parched, book Five)

This series is not fair. I loved the first book with Clarity then started this book and now I love Zill. This flip-flopping is going to take its toll on me. I need to be in both ladies' heads!

So yeah this was a good follow up to the first. The time line was condensed but it felt as genuine as a paranormal book can be. There is no instalove here which I think is why I love it so much. And the characters are pretty likeable. Even Zill. She may he mature for her age but the innocence there is enduring. There was one point of inconsistency in it, but it isn't too bad. Fantastic sequel, although it's more of a novella IMO.

3.5 + A high school girl is struggling to get along with her classmates. She hears her teacher talking in her head and just does not fit. She is faster, feels older and something else. She has some facts brought to light on who and what she is but what does it all mean ? Life gets weirdly complicated and exciting the more she learns.
I really enjoyed this short story. The pacing was perfect, I was sitting on the edge of my seat excited for the next passage. The mystery held out through the story holding my interest. Bravo to this author. I see some real talent in this work.

A great start to this book, it got me intrigued and wanting to read more, the characters were starting to pan out well and then the book finished and I was left dangling, which can be a good thing. So I tried to find the next book in the series and got really confused with all the books that this Author has written. I read one or two of the book descriptions but none jumped out as a continuation from this book. So I'm left on a cliff hanger, but wondering if I can be bothered to find out which book is next?

This was a short story but I liked it a lot. A question: Zillael and Vayle get into bed together when she's in just her bra and panties. Why? She says that she had put her last clean pair of pjs into the laundry room....doesn't she have other clothing? A shirt or something?

Why would the author make the second book in a series, Free? And not the first one? That doesn't really make sense to me. I never read the first one so....

Lastly, how can anyone think that pea soup and olive stuffed spinach rolls, sounds good?

Zillael...she's a brat. Always feeling that other girls are petty and jealous, yet she herself seems that way. But when you have 'superpowers' and have to go to high school, it would be tough to hang out with normal girls. I enjoyed this brief read of her world, mostly because of the other characters involved. I like the vampire twist, the Wek, the adults who aren't what they seem and the whole fantastical tale. I look forward to what the next sister will have going on, as so far I'm enjoying this series.

I just finished reading this installment. Now I did not read book one, which is normally a no no for me. I like to read books in order. I found that this book had a great story line but left me wanting to know more on the specific characters of this book. Questions do not get answered. I did some research on the whole series and can only say that there are a lot more story lines to follow. In the end I hope that we get to know more about Zill, Derek, and Vayle.

I just didn't get it I guess. This story just didn't flow for me. Maybe it is because I didn't read the first book. I don't know. I was lost. The characters were weak. The story was typical and boring. It seems there are just so many cookie cutter type of books being written these days and well this to me was one of them. It just seemed familiar to another story I have already read. No originality.

I enjoyed this Book very much however I only gave it 4 stars as I hadn't read the first in the series and was slightly confused as to the background of the supernatural abilities and things of the characters. however the story of this novel was very good and it was nice to read a different take on the vampire themed story. the ending of the book does require the next in the series to be read therefore I can't wait to read the next one as this was an enjoyable read.

The interesting characters still keep unfolding but someone should fire the editor! It's a little better than the first book, Parched, but still so distracting. Loved that this second book didn't read like a journal. I would have liked a bit of action in Zillael's story though. The scenes she had with Riley weren't enough in my book.

This is book 2 of the Parched series, fortunately I read this first so I can correctly follow the sequence.

I'm biased, I know. I want Zill to end up with Vayle, the vampire. Yes, Derek the Wek is nice and all, but I just don't feel the chemistry.

Can't wait to read about this new world ms. Arkadie has brought us. Will finish the series, for sure.
