My tiny new wife is a force of chaos bent on turning my life upside down.I am a researcher. I read books, conduct experiments, and live quietly on the fringes of the orc town. All I want is peace, quiet, and a female to satisfy the wild urges of my orc body so they don’t distract me from my work.

Getting a human wife through the Temple seems like a logical solution—until I bring her home and she starts sowing chaos. She moves my books, cuts my herbs to make bouquets, and replaces the blessed silence with laughter and song.

For such a tiny person, she can be very loud. And opinionated.

Worst of all, she does nothing to calm my libido. Instead, she makes my body eager and my mind obsessed. She encroaches on my space, my work, my thoughts, and worst of all, my heart.

I hate being out of control, yet with her, it’s all I can be. This cannot go on.

Something has to give.

The Temple, a matchmaking service for monsters, shifters, and aliens, is open for service.

Ina’s groom was an important scientist working at the forefront of portal technology….. and let me tell you this much about her orc husband…. He sure wasn’t a sweet, charming male, he had not One romantic bone in his huge green body. …. No worries, Ina had a talent for dealing with men, and she was going to use it shamelessly.

Once Lundark got past his insecurities of is female leaving him behind his grumpy/sunshine was kind of sexy……. It was fun watching Ina Teach him how to slowly let go of his rigid schedule, cuz he couldn’t control himself around his sexy redhead wife

I fought to put myself back under control. But it was impossible. I wanted her, and if she’d turned to me at that moment and demanded anything, I would have laid the world at her feet and taken her to bed.

Short review because I don't have much to say about this instalment. I liked it just fine, I didn't love it but neither did I hate it.

My gripe, as per usual, is that the book was too short for the setting, romance or story to be truly developed. Nevertheless, Layla Fae did what she could with the short page time, and Lundark reluctantly pining for Ina and finally resigning himself to it was so fun to read.

It hit me like a punch, the impact of her gaze, and I realized how I had missed the simple fact of just being seen by her.

It wouldn't be a true monster romance without spice either. But the spice was just like the rest of the book – mediocre, a little cringe, nothing to write home about. So here goes:

"And you… and this… this was in my body,” I said, my voice expressionless in my disbelief.
“As I said, that oil is remarkable,” Lundark said, his eyes glittering. “And if you have trouble believing that, I’ll be happy to demonstrate. But now, please, touch me. It’s getting difficult to think. I can’t focus with you naked and so close.”

Now on to my next book 🤗

"'The Oil is remarkable.' Lundark's low voice came in through the buzzing in my ears. 'You can take up to eight inches normally, you know. Yet now you're taking all sixteen.'"

I liked the first one that Layla wrote in this series (Wed to the Ice Giant) but I LOVED this one. the banter was so good and I absolutely loved both characters.

are you surprised this is a five star? you shouldn't be. bc this was A.M.A.Z.I.N.G.
I feel like a broken record at this point, but if Layla Fae writes it, not only will I definitely read it, but I will also love it.

I absolutely loved this. The characters were great, I loved their chemistry and banter and altho they made me want to scream at them a few times, I loved their story. I was hooked from the beginning and couldn't put it down. We had a super cute Belle and Beast library moment a little over half way thru and I think that might be my favorite scene.
I thought the first book (Wed to the Ice Giant) was good, but I didn't feel like there was a connection between the two characters that made me root for them to be together, I definitely felt it this time tho and I definitely recommend! I'm gonna have to check out the rest of the series because arranged marriage is one of my favorite tropes!

Overall: 2 stars.

Meh it was fine. The hero is an orc with a big dick. But really he just acts like a dick. The majority of the plot involves him ignoring his new wife because he has to do ~science~ and she’s too sexy to be around. Then they bone, and everyone becomes emotionally mature somehow. 🤷🏼‍♀️

I enjoyed the characters well enough, somewhat insecure grump with a good heart and a manic pixie type girl who for once gets a happy ending instead of just being a tool. That being said, I'm really not a fan of especially when the characters previously didn't seem to want that or actively expressed not wanting that.
More of a 3.25-3.5 than a 3.

short but good

This was a short read, but I really enjoyed it. I really like the main female character. I like how she stood her ground. I really liked how he wanted a quiet, meek wife, and she was the opposite. I like how she said this is our house now we are married now. She didn’t back down. She told him what she wanted and she was willing to work for I really liked that.

2.5☆ Nothing special, nothing horrendous. Just boring.

description

I was THISCLOSE to DNFing around 52% and I blame my boredom on the orc with the 16-inch dick. Yup, even that fun fact wasn't enough to keep my attention, so you know shit was rough. It got a little better about 70% in, but still not terribly interesting.

I like a grumpy hero, and a buff grumpy scientist has the potential to be downright scrumptious. But Lundark's POV was unbearably repetitive and dry. He's a selfish asshole workaholic who is OCD about his life and space and work, and he's given up on relating to or interacting with anyone because he's decided he just has a 'bad personality.' Self-fulfilling prophesy 101, obvi, but not done in a particularly compelling way. I just had trouble caring about him. Ina, on the other hand, was a try hard, and it was a bit aggravating. I wanted to tell her to stop smiling and trying to force everything much, much sooner.

I'm still going to read Wed to the Lich because so many GR folks have raved about it, and it sounds like a very different H. I thought this one would be my cup of tea based on the blurb, but I'm sensing I'll have better luck with a sweetheart undead skeleton-man.

Another cute one but grumpy sunshine this time around and I may have loved it a little more.

The push and pull between Lundark and Ina was simply delicious. I lived for her pushing all of his buttons and he was defenseless against her charms.

More size difference which is hot af. Lundark’s character was one of my faves. He reminded me of Sheldon from The Big Bang Theory but with a libido. Darn those orc mating tendencies! 🤣

Emotionally Unavailable Orcs Should Be Canceled. Immediately. 🤢

You know what? I went into Wed to the Orc hoping for a sweet, spicy monster romance with the usual “grumpy orc x sunshine human” combo. What I got instead was a rage-inducing, emotionally constipated orc scientist who treated his literal wife like a goddamn cocksleeve and background noise he never asked for. 🤬

Lundark. Fucking Lundark. If I could punch a fictional character in the face, he’d be first in line. He sent his blood to the temple not for a mate to cherish or a partner to love—but because he needed “a female for his bed” and even then only “infrequently” so she wouldn't disturb his precious lab work. 💩

Like excuse me? BUY A COCKSLEEVE, ASSHOLE. DON’T GET A FUCKING WIFE. 🖕🏻

He saw Ina—his warm, vibrant, loving sunshine of a wife—as a damn inconvenience. She cooks, she sings, she tries to make their home a happy one... and he hates it. And when she unknowingly picks the very flower he uses to suppress his orc hormones? He loses it. Yells at her. Breaks her spirit. And what does Ina do?

She cries, stops singing, stops talking, and literally dims her entire light to fit into the silence he wants. That scene made me cry angry-ass tears. That’s how hard it hit. 💔😡

And let me tell you the cherry on this shit sundae—there’s NO groveling. No meaningful apology. No realization of how deep he fucked up. And she forgives him just like that? WHAT THE ACTUAL FUCK? 😒🙄😮‍💨

Ina deserved better. Ina deserved the world.
Lundark didn’t deserve Ina’s cooking, much less her heart.

This wasn’t a monster romance. This was emotional terrorism wrapped in orc skin. I finished the book out of spite, but I stand by my rating.

Not spicy, not satisfying, just straight-up frustrating.
2 stars, and that’s me being generous. 😒

I’m reading a romance with a very weak heroine and I needed some backbone in my life, so thank you! That was fun.

And at this point I think we’ve established that if I’m on a break with my book, it’s not cheating if I read this 👀

Ok. So I was almost done writing this review when the app crashed and deleted it so I’m a little frustrated now and can’t remember exactly what I said. The gist of it was that I liked the attitude the FMC had(yes I forgot her name…shhhhh) it was refreshing and new. She just had a complete determination to get her husband to like her and act like it, basically at any cost.

What I didn’t like is that we followed such a similar pattern in timeline as the Ice Giant book.
Mary, fuck, pull back for most of the book, realize you’re an idiot, fuck again, the end….
Which is fine, and I Did like how this book pulled it off Better than the first one, but it’s not a favorite of mine.
I did like the book, but it just sort of worries me that this is the formula she’s chosen and I’m really hoping the Lich book has something completely different…

This was a sweet and low angst monster romance novella. If you love the tropes grumpy + sunshine and opposites attract, you will eat this one up. Ina was a little too manic pixie for me at times, but it was still fun to see her unravel Lundark. I loved that he studied so he would know how to pleasure her (gotta love a man who’s prepared!) Logistically, I don’t think 16” (yup, sixteen) would work, but again, magic oil/lube to the rescue! A fun and quick read!

This was fun! Even better, my library had the audio! Win/win for me!!!

It hit me like a punch, the impact of her gaze, and I realized how I had missed the simple fact of just being seen by her. I fought to put myself back under control. But it was impossible. I wanted her, and if she’d turned to me at that moment and demanded anything, I would have laid the world at her feet and taken her to bed.

Lundark (scientist, Orc) wants a wife…. but he wants her on his terms….

“You are not interested in companionship? In having your hearth and home kept? In fathering offspring? What is it you are interested in, then?”

“Intercourse,”

Ina (virgin, human) is so very excited to meet her new husband and she’s determined to be the best wife in the world! Sadly for her, her big dumb green Orc husband is only interested in his studies.

I would build immunity to her, I decided. The marriage was consummated, and there was no need to bed her anymore, so I wouldn’t. Maybe later, when I was in control, I would allow myself the periodic release. After all, that was the only reason I had married.

When Ina gives Lundark what he asks for, he realizes it wasn’t really what he wanted at all. Once he realizes his wife is always right, our couple live HEA.

“I’m starving for you. Please, let me have you, Ina. I was such an idiot, I won’t waste another day.”

SEX: I seriously wish Layla Fae would include more sex in her books. They are severely lacking in that aspect. This book is super short, and their first time is at 35%, and that’s the only time. They have an oral session towards the end, but damn I could have used some more D.

AUDIO: Pleasantly surprised my library had the audio. Both Veronica Fox and Ryan Stone did an amazing job on the narration. I think it made the book even more enjoyable.

It doesn’t have the romance of Wed to the Lich, or the humor of Wed to Jack Frost, but it’s still an enjoyable read and I would recommend it for a cleanse between intense reads.

This was a great time. I loved the grumpy and analytical Orc and the sunshine, feisty heroine. I really liked how she tried to give him just what he wanted in order for him to realize what he needed. She waited for him to wake up and realize there was more to life than his lab.

Oh, and the size difference was insane!!!

“The oil is remarkable.” Lundark’s low voice came in through the buzzing in my ears. “You can take up to eight inches normally, you know. Yet now, you’re taking all sixteen.”

Trigger warning or content warning? Nope!
MMC screams at the FMC because she used the wrong flowers to decorate the kitchen. MMC breaks a chair in a rage when he thinks the FMC is cheating on him.

Details?
Only human virgins can put forth their DNA to find a monster match, so the FMC is a virgin and the MMC is not a virgin.
MMC has courted three other women (orcs) but it did not work out.
MMC is an extremely jealous being. No reason to be.

My thoughts?
Content warning- I have harsh thoughts and will be expressing them.

I deeply dislike the MMC of this book.
He comes into the temple with the idea that he only wants a wife for a consistent bed partner. No love. No companionship. Just sex. When the priestess points out that his wife is not a prostitute he argues when her that with a prostitute you pay multiple times when with his wife he only pays once. That is his only argument to why he is not treating his wife like a prostitute.
He is shallow when it comes to how he perceives the FMC. He assumes she is “barely literate” and then tells himself that it should be fine because he “doesn’t need her for conversation, after all”. He goes on to think that he can’t allow her to stay ignorant.
When he assumes(!!!!!!) that she is cheating on him with the bread-man from town he goes into a rage and breaks his chair. This is not the first time that he has raged at his wife, when she used a medicinal herb as flowers (she thought they were his favourite because they were well taken care of in the garden) he screamed at her. She is in the middle of apologizing and he screams “you should be!”.

He is without a doubt a dickhead. I did not like how he treated his wife. I did not like how he seen her as a glorified sex toy. It was not a good first impression of him.

Now, if you like (no judgement) men that are assholes then this novella is right up your ally. He is an asshole for the majority of the book and then “redeems” himself at the end. The epilogues are 6 months out and then 5 years later. In the second epilogue the FMC is giving birth.

This was very enjoyable!
I loved Ina. She has a strong personality and she didn’t let her grumpy orc of a husband bring her down. She taught him a lesson in a way she knew how and she waited until he came to his senses.
I loved these two.

I didn't expect ORC smut to have my heart hurting for the leads, but here we are! This was so sweet, and had depth, banter and genuine caring, along with delicious spice. I know monster romance gets the rep of being poorly written or all smut, but this was actually genuinely well done, with characters that I cared about and was invested in. Looks like I'm going to read every book by this author in this multi-author series.
