Most high school seniors are thinking about proms, jobs, or what they are going to do after graduation. Not Devin. All he can think about is his teacher, Mrs. Monica Fisher, and how he's going to get in between her legs. But there's one problem. She can't stand him. But when he helps her out of a difficult situation, not once, but twice, she sees another side to him and starts to warm up to him. The more she tries to fight it, the more she is drawn to him. Add that to the fact that Devin has a girlfriend who is falling in love with him and a twist in the end that will leave you speechless, Hood Luv is a must read for all Urban Fiction readers.
It better not be the end Mr. Hudson ! Don’t play with my emotions like that . I need closure . I recommend this book to everyone that loves drama and suspense.
HOOD ~ your neighborhood, where you are from, the ghetto, your block. Many different meanings for the word but most know what it means to them. It has a sentimental meaning to some but it is home to all. When you are talking about the hood you are talking about loyalty that extends beyond bloodlines and can't be crossed! How do you deal when loyalties are compromised and you violate hood law?
Devin Carter is a 17-year-old student that has many things going for him. He is tall, chocolate and handsome. He is not the best student but that is not his goal, Devin has friends that admire him, a girlfriend that loves him and a personality that draws anyone else to him. The one thing that Devin wants the most is the one thing that he is not supposed to have but he is Devin ~ who is going to deny him?
Monica Fisher is a high school teacher who looks better than the majority of those fass-tail students that she is teaching. Monica is in a loveless marriage and is conflicted about how she is going to proceed with it but what she does know is that she will no longer compromise her happiness for a title or love.
Hood Luv is a novel by the infamous C.J. Hudson who brings Cleveland, OH to the readers so that we can get some insight into his world. Hudson gives you life when reading his novels with the way that he has the characters interacting with each other and his story line keeps you wanting more! This story has many things going on with it put it is not hard to keep up, you are totally engrossed in the story and you will find yourself talking to the book! If you pay attention to what is going on in the book you might be like I was and figured out the ending before we got there, but that is the way I process thing. The ending will totally blow you away but it should click with you and you say "Yup, I knew that!" This was a great read and as always I look forward to reading more from Hudson.
Not what I expected there was many mini stories along with the main story which made for some interesting read......not all about the student getting with his teacher......There were a few things that took you by surprised and then there were others that had you shaking your head and saying WTH.......I thought there would be more grown-up situtaions more so than the happens of the lil thugs and wanna be drug dealers and stick up kids.....Devin, Maine, Michelle, Corey, Rock, Rodney and Mrs.Monica Fisher all told a very interesting and detailed story as each one of their lives change forever by the choices they made.....with the way the story ended seems as if there might be a part two........will probably read just to see what happens......
To say this is a small world, is an understatement. Devin is a high school senior. Monica is his math teacher. Devin has a crush on Monica. She sees him as a knucklehead. Their lives will soon experience some drastic changes.
"Hood Luv" puts me in mind of Menace II Society and Boyz in the Hood with a twist. The main issue I had was the age of the younger characters. They were involved in some grimy acts. Despite the activities going on, I couldn't put the book down. There were a few grammatical errors that required me to go back and re-read passages. C.J. Hudson does an excellent job of drawing readers into the drama. If you are a fan of urban literary, this is definitely the book for you.
