This is making my Top 3 reads in 2021. Wow!

First, you need to be ready for this one. It’s not a quick read but a book you work through.

Trying to objectively and sometimes less objectively work through family fears, pains, trauma, history, entanglements. You’ll learn more about what was given to you - your fate - whether you wanted it or not, as well as your destiny - how you choose to go ahead from there.

From accepting what happened as a child with your parents, siblings, grandparents (whether you were with your biological family or adopted or in some other constellation ) to gaining clarity on how our lives within a family are intertwined and the impact on our path. Ways to heal and insights to help you avoid passing more on to your possible kids.

If you’re ready to be vulnerable and open with yourself and dig deep, read it. Or even better book a family constellation session. It will change your life for the better. It has for me! Because once you’re aware and know you can learn, accept, acknowledge and let go / release.

This book is full of brilliant diamonds to support, question, challenge and provide a mirror for a reader to look her own insights. I liked the effortless flow of this book. Reading it made me also smile for some lovely wittiness included.

I did couple of the exercises and all of them seemed useful and practical. The author writes about family secrets and accepting that some things we never know: "Endlessly seeking out the details can keep us in the past, in the sphere of the life that happened before us, and out of the light of clarity and the knowledge that we are responsible for our lives going forward." This resonates for me also about a personal level where there is times to look closer and deeper and times to let it be. This was the principle I leaned to choose the exercises that felt relevant and useful for me for now.

I truly believe the sins of the Father are handed down generation to generation until someone wakes up and gets off the path. The author did a good job of sharing that and her own experience, which was tragic. It is a good book and definitely made me think, but the use of foul language, at times, lessened my respect. I study family patterns, and it has been helpful to my own healing. Overall, I would recommend this to anyone who has family issues and wants to break free. This book helps us climb back into our own skins and stop seeing the world through the eyes of a victim.

A lot to unpack both in the content of the books and my feelings about it throughout and after finishing. Definitely would recommend it to people if they’re willing to read he whole thing. The first third was a slog—most of the stuff that had me thinking that maybe I wasn’t going to be into this approach to healing and exploration. Then became super valuable and insightful and provided me a new lens to reframe past experience and trauma.

I find it hard to believe in the legitimacy of family constellations. There are ideas in the book that make sense to me, e.g., the notion that everything and everyone exists in a vast web of interconnected events and circumstances, so no single person is to be blamed for everything that is going wrong. However, as presented in the book, it isn't balanced out with an emphasis on a healthy amount of self-determination in my opinion. Therefore, for my taste, the scale is tilted too much in favor of a kind of victim mentality that I can not stand.
After about one tenth of the book I could not continue.
