Tulasi Dalam (Telugu: తులసిదళం) is a Telugu Thriller novel
Tulasi is a 10 year-old child of a rich man Sridhar and Sharada. Anita is her sister. Sridhar saves the daughter of his boss Robert. As a gratitude, he presents Rs. 10 lakhs in the name of Tulasi. If she dies before the age of 10 years, the money goes to Sri Krishna Saranalayam. She was witch-crafted by some enemies of her father for getting the money. Kadra has applied "Kashmora" on her, as a result she becomes serious sick. She is expected to be killed by its effects in 21 days time. The story is about the attempts by four persons (father and mother, Abrakadabra and Ismail) to save her from death.
Mr. Yandamoori was wonderful telugu language writer!! He created waves during his times with this novel. Though many people criticised for writing a novel which promotes black magic and etc.,he darely chose this and mesmerized people with this work.
This can be considered as one of best thrillers which will glue your eyes to the books and slide your fingers through the pages. I say every person has to read this and experience the thrill once in his life time.
These kinds of books may be common in international languages, but to a local reader it wil give a wonderful thrill.
hats off Yandamuri garu... may be this book is first of its kind in telugu novel history. even though the story inclined to one side, the inclusion of the other angles to it makes thrilling and new. the content clearly shows how much research or the risk the writer undergone to furnish those details. frankly speaking , the time i read this book(11pm-4pm)and the content of the novel made me afraid . I slept silently even though I was thirsty as I was afraid to get the water from fridge.
I have earlier read Ashtavakra, in which Yandamoori Veerendranath explores the thin lines between science and witch-craft. This book has been recommended by many people to me. What is very important in Yandamoori's novels is the build up to the suspense and thrill, the emphasis on human nature and values and his characterization of the protagonists of the story.
The story revolves around Tulasi, who is affected by "Kashmora" an evil power that kills those affected by it in 21 days. The first half of the story deals with the struggles of the parents and the people associated with Tulasi. Slowly as the story unfolds the battle between scientifically thinking doctors and the evil witch-craft performers unfolds. The reader is caught in between and really doesn't know what to believe. Even in the final analysis, it is not clarified whether it is the effort of the loving father in killing the black magician or it is the scientific thinking and actions of Dr. Jayadev that saved the life of the child.
All in all, its a fast paced read, and in its time a popular novel. Recommended read for those who are interested in scientifically oriented horror fiction.
Another gripping thriller from the pen of Yandamoori. Before this book, I have read "Antharmukam" and "Dabbu to the power of dabbu". One deals slightly with the God and the other with money. But this book is completely different from them dealing with Black magic and such things. Sridhar and Sharada are a happily married couple. They have only one regret in their life- they don't have children. After many years of waiting, they are blessed with a girl. But due to some circumstances, three cruel men wanted to kill her with the help of Kadra- a sorcerer. He invokes Kashmora- a powerful evil spirit of black magic. Now Thulasi has 21 days to live since Kaashmora kills the person at the end of the 21st day. Sridhar first resorts to doctor Parthasarathy, then to a fakir. Sharada keeps her trust on Jayadev - a hypnotist. What happens next is a definite read. The ending is an unexpected one and it is a killer twist.
Thulasi thalam Author: Yandamoori Veerendranath Translated by: Gowri Kirupananthan This book, originally written in Telugu, was quite good, per se. The story revolves around a family and a group of antagonists who plot to use black magic against the daughter to kill her and claim the assets that are set to be inherited by her when she turns 10. The book strikes a balance between black magic and hypnotism. It is thrilling and introduces a fresh genre to read. However, I feel they could have elaborated more on both aspects to enhance the experience. Without a clear explanation, it often feels like just a cat-and-mouse chase between the heroes and villains. The Tamil translation was indeed well done, offering a different and unique reading experience. ⭐️⭐️⭐️
Gripping story line. One could clearly see the research done by the author in the fields of black magic, exorcism and medicine before writing this novel. In one word....exemplary piece of novel. I feel pity on those readers who don't know Telugu and am proud that I know Telugu and able to read this novel.
This book is first of its kind in Telugu novel history. Story revolves around a ten year old girl Tulasi and dangers around her. Running two parallel storylines based on both science and black magic is a really tough job. But at the end all facts are explained perfectly. Recommended read for those who are interested in scientifically oriented thriller fiction.
యండమూరి ఒక గొప్ప రచయిత...book that is about black magic , full of scandals 😄and about the people who are becoming fooled by all this ...while I was reading the book surprised entirely I didn't even understand the ending how could this happen ...that's why tulasi and tulasi dalam books are greatest that ever written ( from my pov only)
My first Telugu novel, when I was 15 years old? I should say, I was scared to hell and had nightmares for a few days. Yet finished it before my final year exams in 2 straight days. A novel that helped me realize the "kick" in reading.
