Lucas Brothers #7

Torrides nuits d'été

Rate this book

I'm just a simple small town country girl, haunted by Alpha Men who talk in my head 24 hours a day.

I knew I wanted to write when it became clear I couldn't be happy with just viewing other people's stories. I always wanted to rewrite them.

Like why did Jack have to die? Why couldn't Rose move her butt over? Because that was a huge piece of wood she was on, people.

Happy Endings should be fought for, but they should always happen. Mine might take some curves and twists, but they eventually get there.

Having published over fifty stories, it always feels surreal that this is my life. Hitting USA Today had me crying for days, but nothing is more special than hearing from readers that they loved one of my books.

My favorite series

This series is likely one of my favorite of all times. The crayon gang never disappoint and momma Ida Sue is literally the best. This is Maggie’s story and I might be a tad smitten with Bryant. Beautiful story!

I honestly, from the bottom of my heart don’t even know where to begin this review.

A few words was all it took for me to become Magnolia and Bryant’s story had me completely enthralled.

Magnolia has pain and heartbreak woven into every cell, and she has built a fortress around her heart to prevent it from sustaining anymore damage.

Bryant had been head over heels in love with Magnolia for as long as he could remember, and he was done going with the flow, and holy hotness did this man release an inner growly alpha, and at that point I had a feeling I was in for some delicious steamy moments.

Bryant and Magnolia had an electric current between them that was filled with love, lust, and a suitcase full of things from the past that have been left unresolved. Their emotions bled through the pages and at times it felt as though daggers were piercing my heart. Their exchanges are full entertaining witty banter that goes along with talking to someone who knows you better than yourself.

The rest of the Lucas family brought in even more wit, sarcasm, and shenanigans. They light up the pages like a rey of sunshine lights up a room, because although this second chance romance is infused with emotion, it’s equally laced with laughs.

Hot Summer Nights is unequivocally my new favorite Lucas Brothers book, and a top read of 2021. A fantastic blend of electrifying chemistry, a delicious alpha hero, witty banter, all the feels, Lucas family shenanigans, and steam.

This story is about two people who have unwavering love for each other but don’t know how to deal with one another when tragedy strikes. To say Maggie and Bryant’s story was emotional is a huge understatement. The inner guilt and turmoil they individually suffer from is devastating. Love for each other was never an issue, and even years later it’s still not, it’s everything else. Bryant is at the point where he can’t take being around Maggie anymore knowing that she’ll never let him all the way in so Ida Sue steps in to help. Her helping is just her style too, hilarious little touches! It was great to see all the other Lucas’ too.

My rating: 4 1/2 stars

What I liked: I loved the part at the cabin and all the gifts Ida Sue left for them. I also really liked Bryant(H). He truly is an awesome Hero. It was actually refreshing reading a book that both the H and the h are each other’s first and only sexual partners.

What I didn’t like: It was really sad what happened to their daughter and I wished we got to see what she was having.

How hot was it: 3 out 5

Triggers: Death of an infant (off page)

Final thoughts: I really enjoyed this story. Any book with Ida Sue in it is a win for me. Can’t wait to read Blue’s story.

This was an emotional book. Bryant and Magnolia suffer a tragedy and cannot help each other heal. After their divorce, they reconnect again. This time Bryant realizes that his love for Magnolia has never ended. So, with the help of Ida Sue, he attempts to win back his wife. But Magnolia has secrets that she’s afraid to tell Bryant. Jordan Marie shows us that unconditional love is what brings these two back to each other. This book deserves more than 5 stars

Jordan Marie has done the impossible and revived my cold black heart with Hot Summer Nights!

A second chance, true love, alpha romance that will have you swooning over Bryant and hoping for Magnolia.

Sometimes love needs a second chance and that’s exactly what this story proved. Even love, need a little TLC and that’s exactly what Bryant proved to win Magnolia’s heart during Hot Summer Nights.

5 AMAZING BRIGHT STARS.

I think I’ll come back to this one another time. Covers topics that my head just can’t go with just now. I won’t give stars as that wouldn’t be fair - I need to read more of it.

🖤🖤🖤Hot Summer Nights🖤🖤🖤

When I've seen these two give each other little looks here and there, knew something had happened between them but I've never known as to what happened or why it didn't work. Well you could've blown me away with a feather, I couldn't get over their pain, no matter how much they love each other, the pain they're going through holds them back from moving forward. You can't help but root for them to make it🖤🖤🖤their chemistry is off the charts hot🖤🖤🖤they learn in order to have it all they have to lean on each other for everything, the good, the bad, no matter how ugly it is they need to hold tightly to each other. Author Jordan Marie floored me with their story, when she said she was going to bring it she BRING IT for sure, I love these two, they couldn't be more perfect to my opinion🖤🖤🖤if you're looking for some laughs, and a little bit of crying than this series is dedicated for you, you will go crazy over the Lucas Gang AKA The Crayon Brood🖤🖤🖤

I live this crazy color and flower naming family. I love that these characters are so different from their brothers or sisters. The other character coming in, depending on if it is a male or female depending on whether you're dating a flower, or a color.

Maggie and Bryant didn't have an easy road. It was bumpy as hell. I'm glad they were able to find smooth cruising later.

Very excite for who gets their story next.

I've loved this series since I first discovered it. It's made me a huge fan of this author.

I rarely write reviews but the heroine is soooooo super annoying. I don't understand why the hero stuck around for as long as he did. I don't think he's in his right mind either.

Hard topics too close to home to enjoy read!

It hurts my heart to give only 2 stars to a book in this series. Not the normal lighthearted, laugh out loud, funny chaos of previous books! Maggie was a hard character to like in previous books. I never connected to her or was eager for her story like the rest of the Lucas kids! Add in extremely hard topics of losing a child and breast cancer ( sadly two topics I have more knowledge about than I'd like) just made this a difficult read. I guess for me these topics hit too close to my own history and saddness to make this an enjoyable read. Maggie and her walls... It's like looking in a mirror without the hea!

Another great book!

Jordan Marie writes excellent books and this one is no exception. I like that there's always a gray area with her characters, so complex and not perfect and you never quite know who's right or wrong, but you root for them to figure out the mess together. I liked that Maggie understood she's a lot like Ida Sue, but when things happen to Ida Sue, her family is all there no matter what. I am so thankful Jordan Marie keeps adding to this family so we get to see more and more of this family's lives unfold. Excellent book as always, she never disappoints! I was given an ARC for my honest review.

Hot Summer Nights was a fantastic addition to the Lucas Brothers series. As with all the books there were plenty of scenes that had my sides aching from laughing so much. The dirty witty humour is still what I love the most about this series.

Bryant and Maggie pulled a lot of emotions from me as I read and understood them both better. Their story delivered the laughter I crave but their journey had a much deeper feel to it than the other couples because of their history. My heart hurt for them so bad.

Maggie is always running, from life, from herself, from her pain and from Bryant who has always been the love of her life. I really liked Maggie deep down she's very vulnerable and that makes her scared to admit what she really wants. She's punishing herself and destroying her chance at happiness.

Bryant is such an awesome guy, it's impossible to fault him, even when I wanted to kick his ass into gear it didn't change how much I loved him.
The way he's always stayed loyal to Maggie, his love for her was unwavering throughout everything they'd been through over the years made me love him even more.

I absolutely loved this story, it frustrated the hell out of me because I wanted to bang their heads together at times, but the undeniable deep connection and love between Maggie and Bryant meant they belonged together, they just needed a little help to get there.

Of course that help comes from my favourite Fairy God Mother, Ida Sue....heaven help them. 😂

I have to say how much I absolutely love Jansen, he's an ideal man. Ida Sue is one lucky lady.

I'm so excited for book 8 when Blue Moon gets his girl....fingers crossed.

This book is very different to the others in this fantastic series yet it is still a great story and so in keeping with the character Maggie, Ida Sue’s child, whose story this is about—oh and Bryant, the other lead character.

There are still some extremely humorous scenes in the book and I did laugh out loud quite a few times, especially when Ida Sue was involved. 😆 There is a serious element, well there normally is, but there are a couple in this book that are heartbreaking but dealt with well and one of the main reasons for the extra half a star.

I thoroughly enjoyed this story but did want to give both lead characters a little kick to get them moving in the right direction—thank heavens for Ida Sue. 🤣 Maggie, oh dear, she is such a complex character on many levels yet not really. She’s her own worst enemy and a victim of circumstances but I like her support and depth of care shown toward her family, even when she’s annoyed with her mother. Bryant screams ‘nice guy’ from the get go and I liked him straight away, possibly even more than Maggie. 😄 They have incredible chemistry but they know this and don’t contend it, it’s the rest of their relationship that worries them.

Honestly, I was concerned one minute then laughing the next. This story pulls all of the emotions out and throws some new twists in, which I loved! Another reason for the extra half a star. A great addition to this series that you certainly can read by itself by why would you when the whole series is so phenomenal!

Oh, my heart! Jordan Marie has done it this time! I am absolutely in love with Bryant and Maggie May. Their story is a hard one and I honestly didn't know if they would make it or not. Their love started when they were young and even in tragedy, they still held that love for each other even when they drifted apart. Their life has not been an easy one at all. Their heartbreak could have destroyed the best of us and it nearly did but with a mother like Ida Sue, you won't be down for long. Even as crazy as they are, the Lucas family will always be one of my favorite families ever. Ida Sue is a nut but I love her brand of humor. The way she embarrasses her kids but loves them, all the same, are life goals right there. But along with the humor, there were a lot of sobering moments in this story. Not everything is as it seems or as some want you to see. There is a lot of deep-seated guilt, irrational as it is, but it's real to them. They can't see the forest for the trees and that is where my love for this family grows because they might let you get away with it for a little while but dag on it, they will eventually put it front and center so you can't hide anymore. Kind of like what Ida Sue is getting ready to do with Blue and man oh man, I can't wait to see what he has to say about that.

This story completely leveled me, I’m left absolutely speechless. This is going to be kind of a crazy review because there’s really no words that I can say that will do it justice.

The Lucas Clan are amazing , they really make me laugh out loud one minute then cry the next.
I absolutely love Ida Sue. Even though after this book I’m in love with Jansen, he’s incredible!

But this is Bryant and Maggie’s story and what a journey it was. It brought out every emotion and completely grabbed me from the start. Bryant is incredible, the way he hung in there through everything. All he wanted was for the two of them to deal with the past and be together as a family. Maggie is such a beautiful soul, all I kept praying for was for her to talk to anyone, before she completely broke. Finally after desperate measures, they both crack and everything is out in the open. Now the healing can begin.

This is such an incredible story about forgiveness and overwhelming love. I think this might be the best Lucas story so far. Believe me that’s really hard to say because I love them all.

Jordan Marie really outdid herself with this one it’s an absolute must read. As well as the rest of the series ❤️

Well hot damn! Jordan once again proved why this series is in my top 5 favorites ever! The perfect mix of humor and romance makes this one nothing short of a binge-worthy read.

Maggie and Bryant will pull at your heartstrings and have you rooting for their love to prevail. Of course the appearances Ida Sue made put a big smile on my face as well. The fact that Ida Sue has also given her sons-in-law honorary crayon gang names is simply perfection. Who wouldn't love this family?! I wish they were real people so I could adopt their family as my own.

This book consumed me from page one. It's so smoothly written that I couldn't help but finish it in one sitting. Jordan has already announced that Blue's book is coming next and I for one am sitting on pins and needles waiting for that one as well!!

Boy do I love this family. Ida Sue strikes again.

Bryant and Maggie are each stuck in a loop of loving each other but unable to fully commit. Neither has worked through a past that is rife with tragedy and hurt and pain and self blame and guilt.

When a plan is hatched to make both get their heads on straight and set their future on the right path ... well hilarity ensues because Ida Sue was involved. But there's a lot these two need to work out and work through.

Will they get their forever and happy ending? Well you'll have to read the book to find out ... but you'll be glad you did. Especially if you've been following the Lucas family to this point. If you haven't been following along you won't be in the least bit lost if you jump in with this book. But I do recommend reading the rest of the series for the full Ida Sue effect.

As always with this series, and this author TBH, it was another 5 star read!!! Maggie and Bryant's story was one of the more serious Lucas family love stories, but as always Jordan knocked it out of the park. She handled a very serious matter with care and respect, while still showcasing some of the shenanigan's that this family is known for (Ida Sue, rabbits, you'll know it when you read it🤣). In fact, this book caused a new rule to be instituted in our house, that being that I am not allowed to read these books while in bed, with my partner trying to sleep, as my silent laughter shaking the bed woke him up 😂🙄🤣🤷🏻‍♀️.

If you want something that will make you laugh, cry and cry from laughing? This book (and the whole series) will do it all!!

Loved, loved, loved this book! Granted, the Lucas Brothers series is on my favorites list, but Maggie and Bryant, I simply loved their story. Hot Summer Nights just grabs your heartstrings, wraps them around its fist, and pulls you into the pages of the story. Not only did I dab my tears from all the emotional feels of Maggie and Bryant's journey but also from the down right hilarious antics and situations that are sprinkled throughout their story. Do I recommend reading this book? Absolutely, positively yes!

This book! GAH!!!! I laughed, I cried, I loved these characters so much!!!!

In true Jordan Marie fashion this book had me all over the place!!! Not only do we get Maggie and Bryant's story, which is so full of feels, but we also get glimpses into some of our other favorite characters!

This book touches on a very sensitive topic but it was handled with an abundance of love and sensitivity. And through it all there was humor and tenderness and just all that is what the readers expect when we read a book by Jordan Marie!!! Thank you for such a fantastic book!!!!

Wowza! What an amazing mix of emotions! From twisting up my heart to smiles and laughter, this story has it all… and don’t forget the heat! Maggie and Bryant have such an intense connection, a long term, up and down, good and bad, connection. I loved them, the snark, the love, the push and pull. Their story kept me completely pulled into their world, enjoying the family we’ve grown to love and feeling all of those emotions right along with them. This was a great step in the Lucas Family and a must read book!

I received a copy of this book and am voluntarily leaving an honest review.

Jordan Marie did a wonderful job on Hot Summer Nights, it was a strong addition to the Lucas Brother series, the plot was strong, the story was written well.
Bryant and Maggie were strong characters, their journey had it's obstacles but they were strong, fighters and the connection they had was even stronger. They were truly made for each other, they're drawn to each other, the chemistry between them was steamy, they were good together, they completed one another.
This was a great story. I'd suggest reading.
Thank you, Jordan Marie. Wonderful work :)

Good Lordy did I love this book. The Lucas family never ceases to make me laugh cray and make me a tad but angry while reading all of their individual stories. Ida Sue as always is up to her shenanigans in Hot Summer Nights and she is determined to bring Maggie and Bryant back together where they belong, but Maggie and Bryant has so much they need healing between the both of them and Ida Sue knows JUST how to make them do it.
Hold on for a ride that will leave you breathless and wanting more!

I had no idea a Lucas family book could get even better until I read this one! Maggie's story is not only one of true love but true heartbreak. Self doubt, tormenting yourself and not knowing how to get beyond it battles along side a deep rooted love for the ages. A final go with the ever amazing Ida Sue giving a not do gentle push helps Maggie and Bryant shatter and rebuild. 5 stars 2 box of tissue' 1 warm fuzzy blanket is the real rating for this phenomenal love story

Welcome back to the Lucas Family where everyone is in your business. This book, though it had its funny moments, had a heavier side. There was hurt, anger, blame, and health that had to be dealt with. But the start of the comic relief always follows Ida Sue. I loved Bryant’s dedication to Maggie. And I loved the twist of the man wanting all in and woman being the reluctant one. A quick read, with lots of steam.

Going out on a limb here and just going to say it, yes I absolutely loved this book. Just be warned that this book will pull all your emotions out if you. You'll laugh, shed a tear and be a little pissed. Maggie and Bryant have a past, some good some tragic. However it's what happens in their story that keeps you glued to the pages. Jordan did such an fantastic job writing this one. The feels OMG! Ida Sue if course stole the show on occasion. Perfection 💓

Another amazing Lucas Brothers book! I have been looking forward to Maggie and Bryant's story and she did not disappoint! I loved the chemistry and history between the characters and all of the history they've shared. Their story was so real and their love and grief were so real. I love that Jordan can still write real and beautiful stories! I can't wait to see what's next!

P.s. Ida Sue doesn't disappoint in this book!
