He says he won’t let me go, but he won’t acknowledge what he has done to me.

With hatred burning bright, can we move on? or will my wounds stay forever bleeding.

While uncovering more of the Highers’ traitorous actions, and learning just how far they will

I read 29%. That was more than enough. I don’t think I have ever screamed this much at a book (in a bad way). How people this fucking stupid even exist…

I genuinely don’t think I have ever hated a love interest this much. He makes my blood fucking boil. My hands are legit shaking while writing this because simply thinking about him makes me so FUCKING MAD. Who does he think he is? How does a person with this much audacity even exist? With this much stupidity? Genuinely wonder how this… guy was even thinking. Every word that came out of his mouth and every thought in his head made me mad. And then him suddenly acting like he cares after 70 years when like literally everything was his fault? I can’t explain with words how much I hate this guy.

And her so called “brother” (Josh)?? THE AUDACITY IN THIS DUDES BODY. WHO DOES HE THINK HE IS.

AND HER. THE MAIN CHARACTER. Bad bitch, whatever?? BUT WHY IS SHE EXCUSING HIS BEHAVIOR?? WHAT DO YOU MEAN BUT? THERE ARE NO BUTS

I think there were one single sane person in this book. (It was just a sentence, even) Thank you, Taylor, for acknowledging that dear fucking Darius is at fault when our dear MC tries to defend him.

Dnf 70%.

I don’t even know where to be begin. How can a person be so ignorant, arrogant and evil? Because that’s what he is. There are no reasons to justify his actions or his words. UNLESS he has a twin brother who did everything pretending to be him.
He’s also a coward. At least own what you did. Apologize. Something. Before trying to sleep with someone you destroyed. He took EVERYTHING from her. I’m so angry right now I may not be making sense, sorry.

He was always the one initiating everything. He always imposed himself, even when she told him no. He pushed and pushed. Demanding and taking. And then he lashed out (Coward) hurting her, telling her disgusting things. ALWAYS. After, he did what he did, and he THINKS he deserves something from her? Omg someone kill this bastard. NOT EVEN TAMLIN GOT ME THIS MAD! Actually, tamlin would be a better love interest than this guy.

This guy should stay an enemy. Forever. Rhea honey this is abuse. Mentally, verbally, emotionally, physically. This is enemies to abuse.

I love dark romances. I love a villain. But this guy? F*ck him. He’s not any different from everyone who abused the FMC.

Big fat DNF at 45%....not sure how I made it that far. She's supposed to be badass but is weak physically, mentally, and emotionally. He almost killed her with his stupidity, and she just CAN'T stay away despite what he did to her and her pack. All he has to do is lock her up, feed her, and bathe her, and she is ready to let him plow her. I've never been angrier that a character I thought was so strong is actually just weak and becomes a puppet. She might as well as have laid down for Charles cus he's no worse in my opinion than Darius in how they both treat her. Darius just wraps it up in that "we are meant to be" bs. So PISSED I waited anxiously for this, no groveling, no penance, no badass revenge....just ugh.

5 possessive ⭐️

This became dark fast! Book one is like a prologue and this is all now unfolding.

And it’s a reread.

I never really understood the whole possessive man thing, I do now!
Darius is very, very possessive and the book definitely steamed up compared to the first. The theme is pretty dark and yet somehow this author manages to make it look beautiful.

Check your triggers.

Should you read it? Yes absolutely. Grovel done right.

Ps. It’s not a perfect book but the story is a fairytale on steroids, with evil doings and spice 🌶️🌶️🌶️🌶️
I had an amazing time with this. It’s long a little too long but just a tad.

This book was a huge let down.. I loved the first one was a great story. This one was just plain annoying, she hates him she can’t trust him but constantly end up sleeping with him. She has been through a lot which we constantly hear about and I’m just over it. Her character is just plain annoying at this rate.. I won’t be reading the last book because this one was just so frustrating. Also I guessed what he was doing basically at the start so that ending was bad… hardly a cliff hanger. Over this series

I really struggled with how to rate this one. I absolutely loved the first one. But this one?

I'm all about dark romance. I'm ALL about enemies to lovers, but Darius should NEVER be the lover here. He beats her pretty brutally in book one. Obviously, there's a lot more that goes into it than that, and I was like okay. There's gonna be an explanation and a mega fucking grovel and we will see where that goes. Does that happen? No.

This man smashes down every boundary Rhea sets. He quite literally does whatever he wants. When she says no he ignores it. He will physically pick her up and take her where he wants. He leaves her locked in a room away from her pack so she can "rest" while she pounds and screams at the door and begs him to let her out.

When it comes to sex she CONSTANTLY tells him no. And he says because her body responds, it's fine 🙄.

Like I said I LOVE dark romance and I've read some fucked up mmcs and villian gets the girl but this just isn't that. He has no respect for her whatsoever and truly doesn't give a fuck what she wants and how she feels and I'm just over it.

Will definitely not be continuing the series.

Overall ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️/5
Spicy content 🌶🌶🌶🌶/5
Spice quality 🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥/5

I received this book as an ARC, and my thoughts are honest and my own!

HOLY GUACAMOLE!!!!! I love this book! :) The dark rising picks up right where the last one left off with no time jumps in it, which I love.
I was sucked in from the moment this book started and it didn't let go, in this book there is just so much more emotion and history that I just want to re read it again in case I missed any little detail!

I found myself crying because of this book because of the stories of those from Eridian and why they went there in the first place. Along with Rhea and everything with her family.
And man I knew I hated certain characters for a reason and this book does nothing to stop that hatred it just makes me hate them more and I can not wait till they get what is coming to them!

Rhea is such a strong character but also so vulnerable at the same time, and it just breaks my heart that she has been through so much but yet still loves so much. In this book we really see everything that Rhea has gone through and it gives you a new understanding as to why she is the way she is and why she is so guarded when it comes to those she doesn't know or trust.
I also just want to cuddle Runa so tightly and just protect her from the world, but boy, I can not wait until she comes out and gets revenge on those that hurt her and Rhea.

You may be wondering, what about Darius? Well let me tell you something.... this man!!!! Still an alpha-hole, of course, but throughout this book.. boy, he is just as much loved by me that Rhea is.
I am so glad that we get to learn more about him and see him for who he is, a protective asshole who will do anything for those that he cares about. And once he has an idea in his head, he sticks to it, and if you don't do as you are told, you will know about it, haha.
I know that I wanted to see him grovel for what he did to Rhea, but the way that Kelly has written Darius is frikken perfection. I could honestly not see Darius crying and begging for forgiveness, but the way that he is trying to make things right is just a *chefs kiss*

I love everything about this book, and I can not wait for it to be released so everyone can experience this amazing world that Kelly has given us.
But be warned the ending of this book is a cliffhanger in true Kelly fashion and will have you gobsmacked and screaming at the book to not end.
I can not wait until book three and man, I need it like yesterday!

*Please note this is book two in the series and ends on a cliffhanger*

Edit: Just re read this, and every single one of my thoughts above still stands.

The audacity of every single man in this book is kinda crazy. There is absolutely no appeal to the love interest he’s just straight up horrible 😭 there’s a scene about 35% in where Rhea asks Darius if he would hurt her GIRL HE ALREADY HAS . No progress was made throughout this whole thing . Kinda disappointed lol , not the best intro to this genre of books.

RATING: 4.5 'Laeliah' HEARTS!

The Dark Rising is a read we enter into with no shortage of trepidation given the shocking cliffhanger of the first instalment, wondering when or if the Rhea we’ve laughed with, hoped with, and loved with will return to us. Ms. Cove does a superb job in continuing Rhea and Darius’ dark journey—secrets long buried, corruption, betrayal and hurt, and magical mystery intertwining with delicious romance against a fantastical backdrop, subjecting us to the sharpest of pains and heart-wrenching angst sparsely interspersed with moments of sensual levity and pack camaraderie.

“Under the moonlight... The darkest of nights shine the brightest.”

Overall, The Dark Rising is an atmospheric and gritty read, teeming with complicated emotions between our protagonists and a thrilling plot, leaving us gripping the pages with white knuckles long after the last page is flipped, and waiting with bated breath for the next instalment.

So nothing happened. Genuinely think you could go from book 1 to 3 and not be missing any context. I kept waiting for something to happen and then the two kind of “wow” moments at the end are things that have been made obvious since the beginning of the book.

We’re leaning a bit too hard into the sub-dom thing if she’s an “alpha”. I’m assuming that we can maybe get the badass-ery character development in book 3? Girls got trauma so I like that the author isn’t being like “yeah she went through hell but now she’s just this strong woman who makes all the right decisions” but again, you gave me an entire book of just her struggling. No character development at all, even though it clearly sets up for numerous exciting things. If this is a trilogy, the next book is going to be rushed.

Will read book 3 but terribly disappointed in book 2 after a decent set up in book 1.

I loved the first part and the pacing and all of that, but going into the second book, it was an infinite loop of back and forth. Why did you betray me ? Do you believe me ? I don't trust you! Oh my god, just act grown up if you were the alpha of a pack of underprivileged, damaged people. Yes, I understand she went through a lot, I understand the toll it plays on one person, but man, I expected at least some emotional maturity and basic communication skills. I could've ignored it if the book progressed, but ever since they met, nothing was solved. Just reached the basic understanding of who did what and why. No wolf problem solved. No progress about rogures. Nothing. At this rate, the entire thing would be 6 books that are dragging uselessly. And what ending is that ? It's not even a cliffhanger. We knew he was punishing himself for what he did to her. But apparently, her finding out will make the readers impatiently waiting for what's next. It was an honest letdown, and it disappointed me because I was so into the first book.
Also, the entire book is just useless her and Darius. Where are the dynamics with other members, anything to show them as individuals instead of just random third party with useless comments and reactions. Don't even get me started on the witch blood who is barely mentioned, and I hoped so much more if she survived and was part of their group. Literally, so much let down !
I really hoped so much more of this book.

One of the worst books I’ve ever read. The MC is straight-up horrible, no better than the actual abusers of the FMC. That girl was abused in every possible way, and they’re trying to romanticize that? Hell no. I should have DNF’d this. Literally not worth it. Also zero plot except abuse.

This second book is a bit of a disappointment.

In Book 1, Rhea knew deep down that she was destined to be with Darius. He made her hope and think of "what if".
Only for that "what if" to come back slap her in the face or better said, whip her in the back 55 times. How can anyone come back from that?

And this is literally the push and pull throughout the whole book.

They're destined to be mates. The Gods want them to be mates. Their powers want to be mated. But Rhea and Darius want anything but. And it makes. Me. So. Angry!!

She says, my body can't resist you but I don’t want it to be you.
He says, I hate the idea of being shackled to another person but we need to fulfill our destiny.

And on and on and on. It's like if it weren't for their destiny, they wouldn't even give each other the time of day. And please, pray tell, what kind of love is this?!!

For the first 30% of the book my only thoughts regarding Darius were: you Stupid Man! You Idiot Asshole!
You are Alpha! You’re supposed to be smart!
Ffs THINK!!!! use that brain in that stubborn head of yours!
Give her the benefit of the doubt. Listen to her!!! The rogures came by 20 years ago, she was 7 years old!!!!! THINK!

Not to mention, she's stuck on how he betrayed her, with reason mind you. But, communicate People!!! TALK!

She doesn't seek explanation and he's adamant on not taking responsibility for his actions.
Man just apologise already!
Where is the grovel?
Everything I read is, we're destined! She lied to me! I hate her but I want her! She's mine but I don’t want her!

God!!! How stupid can you both be.

So how am I supposed to move past that niggle in the back of my mind reminding me of how much he hurt me?
I can't, and I'm not sure I ever will because he doesn't even acknowledge it.
Yes we are civil, working toward a common goal.
But my heart still hurts, and unfortunately, the one who hurt it is the only one who can fix it.

This pretty much goes on for the entirety of the second book.

And moving on to the plot. I understand wanting to breed other females and especially the Heir of Zahariss but up until this point, I don't understand the need to torture little children. What's the purpose behind it? It serves no agenda other than introducing a shock factor for us to gasp and recoil and rage in anger.

And let's not forget how slow paced this second book is. While her pack and Kade are probably being tortured, they are biding their time until Rhea has better control of her powers, until they make sure who is a traitor, until Edward makes contact and on and on with excuses and delaying the inevitable. For months on end and it's centered on Rhea's and Darius's tentative understanding of each other.

There is some playfulness though between the two through this adjusting-to-having-you-in-my-life and it is just so adorable to read!

"Careful, little wolf, you know it excites me," he murmurs, and it causes a smile to spread across my face, a lightness filling me. He tilts his head, a hand coming up to run a thumb over my cheek. "Laeliah." Beautiful. He traces my smile with his finger, then he scowls. "Don't smile at anyone else like that."
I laugh, a lightness filling me as I push at his chest. "You're ridiculous. I get up and move back to the bed as he frowns.
"I'm not joking, little wolf. You smile at someone like that and they won't breathe for another second." He stands and comes to sit next to me.
"Okay, Dar." I pat his shoulder and his frown deepens. We sit in silence, his body pressed to the side of mine and I feel his silent strength wrapping around me. "So what now," I ask, turning to look at Darius to see he's already watching me. I shouldn't be surprised, he always is.

And what's with the whispering about who they are to each other! We already know they are destined to be together to be mates, it's becoming ridiculous at this point to not acknowledge it to themselves and to the readers!

What I like in this book though is that both MCs are not perfect. They do a lot of mistakes. They hurt others and learn from it. They attone for their actions and make sure they get their comeuppance whether they’re good people or not!

Finally, at around 73% of the book, we get the much anticipated redemption of Darius. Opening up to each other about their feelings, their pain, their regret finally puts their relationship into perspective. And then that ending? Another cliffhanger!
One, I'm sure every reader has suspected it at this point, but confirming it is that much more impacting...

To be honest, up until 73% of the book I was only going to rate it 3 stars but the last 1/4 of the book upped it another star.

OH MY GODDDD KELLY COVEEEE I-

First and foremost I want to give a huuuge thanks to Kelly for the ARC 🥳🥳 honestly I don’t know I would have gotten to Oct 18th without this book!

This book picks up right where it left off from that insaneeee cliffhanger in book 1. The storyline picks up swiftly and boy does it reel you in! I will say this book is pretty long (as in around 500 pages kinda long) so whether you need to book a shift off of work to read it in one sitting or isolate from the world on your day off… do whatever you need to do because this book can only be read in one way… WITHOUT STOPPING.

This book I would say is a lot more emotional and definitely will tug on your heart strings. The stories of those from Eridian and what lead them to go there will seriously break your heart in two. I did expect that we would find out why they were all there but the way in which it was revealed broke me. The side characters we fell in love with in book one are as lovely and amazing and kind and we all expected them to be and those we hated…

KEEP HATING THEM!

Now for the main girl herself, my baby Rhea. Kelly really hinted at the suffering she went through at the hands of Higher Charles and the others in power but the reality literally brought tears to my eyes… and down my cheeks… and into my t-shirt. Basically I SOBBED. Whatever heartbreak you think you will feel for her I’m telling you now it’s worse. I’m this book we really get to delve into just how much Rhea has been through and we learn that Eridian was literally her only hope of living and trying to move on. And omg Runa too! I just want to pick her up and personally protect her from any and all harm. The two of them have gone through so much and to still be standing?! QUEENS. Aaah, there is so much more I wish I could say without spoiling but as for Rbea I will just leave it at this and hope you will read for yourselves.

Now onto Darius 🙃.
Obviously we all know how book 1 ended and anyone that didn’t want to end him for it… find your heart. So Darius was always an alpha-hole and if you want me to tell you it gets better…. I’m kidding. Kind of. Maybe. I really needed Darius to do whatever comes after grovelling in this book and moreeee! Kelly says that she writes the characters as they come to her and I can reallyyyyy see that in how Darius is written. He is prideful. Protective. Some may say arrogant. And definitely an asshole, but in this book we also learn more about him and his commitment. Because let me tell ya what he sets his mind to… he will NOT move from it. So as much as I wanted my version of grovel which is tears and begging for forgiveness, as I said Kelly’s way of writing him keeps him authentic to the man we all learned in book 1. The scenes between Darius and Rhea made me cry, scowl, laugh and cry some more. And that’s all I’ll say on that before I give things all away.

Okay this is getting too long now but the secrets that are uncovered are 🫨🫨🫨. Some you might have suspected but others will have you in shock. Th ending will definitely leave you with tears in your eyes and you mouth wiiiide open bc trust me when I say NOTHING WILL PREPARE YOU FOR IT. There were no hints at all for that to be the ending 😭. But book 3 is coming out early 2024 where I hopeee it’s the final book for these two characters bc my heart can’t take another plot twist.

WTF!!!?!?!??!?!?!?😱 Why does she keep ending her books like this!?!?!?!!? I can't handle it. I thought it was obvious he was whipping himself or whatever, since there were random mentions of pain on his back. But to end this book this way is a crime against my sanity.

I still hate Darius a lot. A little bit less now but still a lot of hate. It was really annoying how he wouldn't say he was sorry or talk about it. After he finally did I started hating him a little less. The Lesia flower thing was really sweet. Other than that he is still a walking red flag. I hate how he treats her with so little respect. Also, locks her in after what she has been through locket in a cage!?!?! Like, what are you thinking!?!?!? Also thought about wanting to shove himself in her mouth after everything she told him. He is right he is selfish. He still disgusts me—a lot. I hate him.

Rhea is also mildly annoying. I have a lot of reasons but mostly she's repetitive. She doesn't really do a lot in this book except spiraling out of control, repeating her internal monolog over and over, and of course, fucking Darius. I wish she had gotten her wolf out so we could have seen some growth. Maybe next time.🙃

I don't care about Kade. So there's that.🤷‍♀️

Despite everything I mentioned above I really liked this book. It is a very compelling story. I couldn't stop thinking about coming home and reading more. Even though the characters annoy me I'm fully invested in their story and want to see their journey to the end. This feels like a segway book to transition from book one to three. Kind of like Mockingjay part 1 was a segway movie. It's still really good but it doesn't really have a lot of plot. I don't even like werewolf books. I still really like this series and can't put it down. It's been a long time since a series had me stuck reading books back to back.

It is a very mysterious story and really leaves me wanting more. Specially answers. I want to know what Vihnarn means. I'm guessing mate, love, promised one, my other half or something like that. I wish we at least got to know that.

I read one and two back to back and would keep going if the third was out. I'm really excited for it and I'm going to preorder it on my Kindle after this. I'm so happy it's the last one because I couldn't handle another cliffhanger like that.😮‍💨

I just had the most wonderful experience reading the ARC of The Dark Rising by Kelly Cove , and I am completely enthralled by the pure beauty of this work. I couldn't put the book down because I was so absorbed in the universe the author built from the first page to the last.

The book has incredibly well-developed characters, each with their own distinct voice and personality. I discovered that I had become very invested in their experiences, feeling their joys and sorrows as if they were my own. The characters in the book have an extraordinarily deep emotional range, which makes them seem incredibly real and approachable. This book also explores deep issues, inspiring reflection and leaving the reader with a lasting impression. It's a tale that sticks with the reader long after the last page has been turned.

If you like enemies to lover you should definitely read this book.

All my excitement for the second book was sucked out by two factors, one MC and second FC inner monologue.....

I skipped pages and realised it was not worth it if I am not enjoying the book. I have read many dark novels, grey heroes but first time I met an actual asshole of an MC. I did not like his character at all. Alphaness was bullshit...it grated how he treated the FC.

And the number of times author mentioned his smirkness was outlandish....as if he has no other expression.

So I am done.

This could have easily been a 5 if not for my only 2 complaints
-Rhea’s inability to make a decision about Darius. Should this have happened in real life - I’d say walk away and never look back. And with the added complications to their scenario, I whole heartedly understand her wavering resolve. With that being said, I was simply tired of reading about it.
-I do feel like the progress of the plot plateaued toward the middle/end of the book. We got to a point where we were only working towards the MCs relationship and working through Rhea’s trauma. Both very important things. However, there is also an entire country after Rhea, beasts being bred causing destruction, and a missing pack. And we saw little of that.

THE WAY THIS HAS ME IN A CH0k€HOLD 😳😫👌🏻🥰

Where do I even begin? How do I even begin? This is the authors second book? LIAR. Seriously? For real? This is right up there (or better) than some major household names…. I’m shocked and in awe.

I enjoyed book 1 - The Hidden Falling, but this? THIS? This is a damn freaking masterpiece. 👌🏻

So many readers of this had been begging and demanding Darius grovel. He’s an alpha hole, he ain’t about to beg. Now, I absolutely DID want him to suffer, hurt, regret, and feel deep sorrow and remorse for what he did. But I also wanted him to stay true to who he is. HE DOES.

The journey and the emotions I felt in this book is unreal. The way Darius does feel regret and pain for everything we know about in book 1 was executed beautifully. We FEEL his regret, shame and the punishment he puts on himself. But we see all those subtle, caring and thoughtful things he does for Rhea too. He stays true to being over the top, possessive, aggressive and all alpha alpha BUT we get this newer intimate side that I just absolutely died for. He is absolutely everything in this. Everythingggggg

Rhea? Runa? This girl has GONE THROUGH IT… and just wow. It’s heart wrenching, it’s brutal, check your triggers, grab your tissues and wine. I wasn’t prepared for some of the things I read in this and my heart just hurts for her so much. She’s such a fighter, a survivor in every sense of the word and I absolutely cannot wait to see her come into her own in book 3. One of my absolutely fav things about her and her in this book *** spoilers *** is how it takes almost the whole book for her to sort of start to forgive and trust Darius. Our girl makes him work for it!! And man does he ever. It’s perfection

The rage I have over the highers 🤬🤬🤬🤬
The love I have for Darius 🥵🥵🫠🫠😈🤪
The excitement I have for Rhea/Runa 😍😈🙌🏻 🔥
The shock and gasps I had for the plot twists in this 😳😵‍💫
The wonder I feel at this epic world building 🤩🥰

The absolute respect and admiration I have for this author over this absolutely unreal world, characters and stories.

There isn’t enough stars for this book. Until then .. I’ll keep re-reading and remembering “under the moonlight”

Review: After I finished the first book and the cliffhanger that ended on I knew I needed to immediately read this!

This book took me on a real up and down journey of emotions. After what Darius did in the first book, I think I was hoping he’d suffer in so many ways for what he did, what I did not expect was the emotional growth he went through, all the while still being true to himself. He’s still stubborn, possessive, aggressive and controlling but the fact that he went to such lengths to prove to Rhea that he could be trusted and to try and earn her forgiveness made me melt!

I love how we also see how broken Rhea really is by what’s happened to her throughout her life, all the hardships she’s faced and you start to understand why she is the way she is. It was heartbreaking, so please check any trigger warnings for this book just in case! She doesn’t want to let Darius in, how could you trust someone who did what he did? You feel her pain and even when she doesn’t want it, Darius is always there to pick her up and comfort her.

The ending was another amazing cliffhanger and I am so so so excited to see what comes next for this series and I really hope some Highers get their karma because the hate I have for them is on a new level. I hope the relationship between Rhea and Darius continues to grow and develop and I can’t wait to see what’s next for this pair 👀

Dnf at 35%. It didn’t have the same feeling as the first book and I didn’t understand the dynamics between the main characters. He almost killed her and she kept finding ways to see the good in him and others while she was being hurt. She was not as powerful as she should have been. First book was great but this was meh..

Ok read

This book was so different to the first. I loved the way the first story went, a pack full of broken people healing in a peaceful place to now just being about the two main characters going back and fourth. This book could’ve been so much shorter, again most of the “plots” are predictable. Will read book 3 to see if it picks back up.

I definitely have mixed feelings about this second book. First of all, I HATE cliffhangers but they do make me come back so... 🤷🏻‍♀️ Also this book felt like it dragged in some parts and I just wanted to give up reading. But I think towards the end it picked up and I was interested again.
I also had a variety of mixed feelings for the MMC, Darius, most of them negative, I won't lie about that. 😭✋️ But I also couldn't help but melt towards him. BUT he should've grovelled more instead of just taking what he felt was for him. BUT that ending, that cliffhanger. I'm not making sense, I know. Just read the book to find out. Anyways I must know what happens next so I'm going to read the last book, definitely. 👋

not for me.

Nope. Not worth the read. At least for me. The MFL was annoying. Her inner monologue was reading like the reader. What I mean is as we read, obvious questions pop in our heads right? Well, the author wrote them as part of MFL inner monologue. Which is a waste of time. After all those questions she wouldn’t try to find answers, she just kept on going. There were pages that had paragraphs of questions and still MFL went about her day. Some of the questions were repetitive! And obvious! Like for example, mates. It didn’t just happen with the main characters it was another who had a mate! It was almost condescending. I’m sure it was to try to be like a grand reveal.

Don’t even get me started on the ML. Did not like him. I’m sooo for some dominant sexy time but this guy? Straight up bully but in a forceful inappropriate way. Like not only did he physically hurt her but wouldn’t give her space! Like I get the premise of the story but his inner monologue was “mine” “no one sees her” “no one feeds her only by my own hand” “if any tears it will be because I caused them”. He locks her in his room! Not letting anyone she cares about in. She constantly tells him to leave her alone tries to get out of situations when he’s tooo close or actually touching her but he came on even stronger, at times even smirking! Which gave me ick vibes. That is not swooning material, that is Stockholm syndrome crap. When you get to those parts you will see what I mean.

I literally got to page 200ish and called it quits. I couldn’t. MFL inner monologue didn’t match her actions and the ML came on as forceful in a none sexy way (I use forceful because the R word isn’t allowed) I tried Amazon had me rewrite the review.

Life is to short and there are way to many books to read. No longer wasting time. Normally I would give it a chance and commit buuuut I did with the first book, with the whole cliffhanger thing and hoping the MFL would make the ML beg, but nope. I even read the authors note at the end and well she loves the ML and how he doesn’t apologize because he feels he doesn’t deserve forgiveness. Really? It’s still nice to hear and make him work for it. If he did apologize it may have happen after I quit and not before his continued non sense. Geez.

Reader you’ve been told. So to each their own.
