Natalie Sommers is an armed bodyguard. She has completed two tours in Afghanistan with the Australian Army and carries five different weapon licenses. To say she is a tough, no-nonsense woman, is an understatement. But underneath the tough exterior that she shows, lies the truth that she won’t admit - that she is lonely.

So when she is hired to escort the rich and gorgeous Alexander Ash around the dazzling backdrop of Sydney she can’t help but become seduced by his fixation of her.

But it is no accident that Alexander has walked into her life, as he has met her, loved her and fought for her before.

I have been an avid reader for longer than I can remember, desiring the darker, edgier works of Bram Stoker, Stephen King, Dean Koontz. I first started writing in High School giving that away when my first attempt was nothing more than dribble. I wish now that I kept at it, pursued it with a hunger that I currently possess.

Writing is my passion, it is what fuels the fires inside of me and it is an all-or-nothing furnace that keeps me up at all hours.

I am married to a wonderful supportive husband, I have 2 wonderful kids and the best friends that I have waited some 35 odd years to meet.

This book can be a good one just some hard editing, remove unnecessary words/phrases that are not needed, correct some typos and it could it...

It has a promising plot, a djinn, a vampire and a reincarnated queen, a historic past, a love triangle, death and sex. But 3/4 of the book is a drag through a little bit to the end, that ends in a cliffhanger...

The big question is do I want to read the next book to answer the questions in my mind? Or I just let it be and continue hanging... Anyway there are lots of books to explore... In time my questions will be answered.

Hi, I'd like to introduce myself. My name is: totally take by surprise!

This is the first in Kim Faluks' Fire and Ice Series and I really liked every aspect of this story.

Natalie is a woman who is really just trying to get by with what she's got, like all of us really. Only what she's got is a talent for kicking ass and taking names. This talent leads her into a world that opens hidden feelings and memories that she never knew existed from past lives she never knew she had lived.

Her paths cross two men that will begin unlock those feelings and memories and that will begin her journey of discovery. She meets Alexander first, and is instantly drawn to him. He is hot, sexy, rich and does things to her that she really just can't wrap her head around. Just when I was dying for Alexander and Natalie to take their relationship further...BLAM! In walks Malik....and oh boy things REALLY start to heat up! All along the way we are given bits and pieces as to what exactly Alexander and Malik are and how Natalie is bound to both of them. Each man is pulling Natalie in a different direction and truly represent both fire and ice.

I can't wait to read more about Natalie's journey!!! Oh, and I NEED more Malik....yum!!

Reclaimed hits the ground running, starting with strong emotions and building the character of Natalie very quickly. Having read as many books as I have, with the majority set in alternate worlds or America, it is a fresh change to read one that is based in Australia, country of origin for Miss Faulks and myself.
Even if I didn’t already know it was a paranormal, there are hints and slight suggestions to the mystical, which drew me in more than if it had been obvious. Sometimes the hint is more tantalizing than a flat out statement.
Ms Faulks really knows how to work the sensual scenes, spreading a sinfully superb setting of seduction. With each twist and turn Kim Faulks drew me in to her story even more. This is one author who can pack a whole lot of story in to a short space without losing detail or overwhelming a reader; to manage such a feat takes real skill and Ms Faulks certainly has plenty of that.
Reclaimed sets up what promises to be a fantastic series, and I highly look forward to future stories from Ms Faulks!

Natalie is a tuff no nonsense body guard. But when she takes a job guarding Alexander she starts feeling weird every time he’s close to her. She starts hearing someone else’s voice in her head and she feels like she is going crazy. Alexander has been searching for Natalie for centuries. They were once married and promised to love each other for eternity. Natalie starts to give in to her feelings to Alexander but another immortal has his sights set on her also. Malik a Djinn has been searching for Natalie also. Natalie is torn between the two and finding out the truth about herself. Both immortals light a fire in Natalie but she doesn’t know who to trust.

Kim makes the characters flawed and beautiful at the same time. I could relate to Natalie and feel her confusion and passion for both men. I am looking forward to reading Seductive Sands to see what happens next.

Not to diminish the accomplishments of the author, writing and getting a book published is praiseworthy and I completely respect her for her efforts. BUT... for me, this was not good. Kind of awful really. DNF/CNF.

Blurb/Summary: (From Book)

Reclaimed is the first in a five part erotic paranormal series titled: Fire and Ice.

Natalie Sommers is an armed bodyguard. She has completed two tours in Afghanistan with the Australian Army and carries five different weapon licenses. To say she is a tough, no-nonsense woman, is an understatement. But underneath the tough exterior that she shows, lies the truth that even she won’t admit, that she is lonely.

So when she is hired to escort the rich and gorgeous Alexander Ash around the dazzling backdrop of Sydney she can’t help but become seduced by his fixation of her.

But it is no accident that Alexander has walked into her life, as he has met her, loved her and fought for her before.

Alexander Ash has sworn he would love her forever, even if it means searching for all eternity…and eternity is a long time for a vampire.

The Fire and Ice Series is a tale of undying passion and love as Natalie is torn between two immortals that hold a secret so deadly that it will tear her world apart.

Review:

Well played, Kim Faulks…Hired by Alexander Ash as a body guard, Natalie Sommers is immediately suspicious about his intentions behind why he needs a "personal bodyguard". Alexander Ash is, without doubt, wealthy, handsome, and arrogant--a man who always "gets" what he wants. Natalie knows the type who seeks out "a personal body guard" is looking for one like her. But he's far too insistent that for this situation he must have her for his bodyguard. If he is expecting more from her than just guarding his body, he’ll find out the hard way no extras are included in the price. But there was that shudder when she first laid on him. Was it desire? Or just her body telling her it’s been to long since she’d been laid?

Here is where an author could have lost me.

Even though Natalie soon realizes that she is indeed attracted to Alex, Faulks didn’t rush them into bed. She understands her characters and knows there is still too much mystery
surrounding Alex. And that Natalie is too much of a professional to let that happen. When the moment comes and her guard falls, Faulks makes it seem as if Natalie is in a dream-like state of awareness--not truly having a totally conscious understanding what is happening to her.

At the most crucial moment at what is happening to her is where Marik enters, bringing her back to awareness and her surroundings before things go too far. Now the story really begins to heat up. Not that they weren’t already on fire…Both men swear they love her. Both warn her to be wary of the other. Who is telling the truth? Or are both lying? Both are holding back details. But for what means?

And without further ado Kim Faulks' Reclaimed captured me. And just as fast I felt ‘you know what killed the cat’, was heading in Natalie's direction. Because there is more to Alex then meets the eye. He is also a vampire. And if that isn’t enough Marik is a Djinn. And both seem to already know her. And this is when Natalie’s world turns into a rock-and-roll kaleidoscope of twists and turns that lead her straight out of the reality she knew and into what can only be described as being swept into a LSD trip, without actually being on LSD.

Reclaimed’s ending is only the beginning. There are many voids that need filling in. No, Natalie’s has many roads to travel before everyone’s true nature is exposed, including hers. No matter what that entails, I will be right there with her. So be on the lookout for my reviews for Book 2 Seductive Sands and Book 3 Enslaved in Kim Faulks' Fire and Ice series.

Here’s hoping the journey unfolds as well as it began!!

I was looking for something with a bit of spice to read and I found "Reclaimed" by Kim Faulks. This is the first book in the series and fit the bill perfectly. It was exactly what I was looking for. This book has enough heat to melt the polar ice caps!

The story follows Natalie an armed bodyguard for hire, who just taken a new job that is about to turn her world upside down as the supernatural crashes into her reality. Natalie finds herself in the midst of a very old love triangle between Alexander and Malik whom both have been searching for her for lifetimes. Natalie’s love life is about to get complicated as she searches for the truth. In her search for the truth she will find temptation, lust and love all wrapped up in two men who are fighting for her love.

One of the things I find a bit frustrating with today’s paranormal Romance is the characters willingness to accept what is happening to them without question. As a reader I it is frustrating because I don’t know what makes the character tick, therefore often times don’t understand their reasons behind their actions or decision making. This isn't the case with Reclaimed, I knew exactly where Natalie was coming from with each decision she made, even with her encounter with Alexander and his seduction of her. He was relentless, she wanted him, she was drawn to him and therefor gave herself with completely even when thing started to get a bit weird. We see the character of Natalie evolve as she accepts that she was involved with Alexander and Malik in a different lifetime. The characters of Alexander and Malik are completely different as their story emerges towards the end of the book and I am sure their motives will be brought to life in the second and third installment of the Fire & Ice Series.

The book is well written and for me was a fairly quick read, but then when I caught up in a story all I want to do is finish the book. This is where Kim Faulks excels as a writer she makes you want more. Her writing places you her characters heads, so you feel what they are feeling, want what they want which gives the characters and story line a very realistic read. With the plot slowly revealing itself I started to understand the interesting love triangle of Alexander the Vampire, Malik the Djin and Natalie. The story leaves you with a bit of a cliff hanger at the end as Natalie searches for the truth.

Now this book is classified an Erotic Paranormal Thriller, and let me just say it is erotic! There should be a disclaimer “Cold shower needed after reading” lol This story was one of the most erotic story I have read in a long time. It was so well written the pages were smoking! This book is for the adventurous since it has a very supernatural kinky feel to it! My kind of book!!

I am looking forward to reading more of Kim Faulks, she has a unique style of writing that is like a breath of fresh air in the genres of Horror and paranormal romance. As an author she is writing what she wants to write instead of what is expected. Her honest and gritty writing style pulls me in every time and leaves me wanting more. Currently this book is Free on the kindle, and a fairly quick read of 77 pages. I highly recommend any of Kim Faulks books for those who love a good, thrilling read. With that said I give this book 5 stars.

What an absolutely fabulous story this is. I downloaded this book by mistake, but as fate would have it, I’ve enjoyed it a great deal more than I expected to. I don’t usually like erotic literature or stories with vampires. Goodness have I been missing out!

This story had me from the first page - long before the erotic scenes and vampires appeared.

The main character is very strongly drawn, she is complex and interesting and although she exhibits a ‘tough lass’ exterior it is quickly apparent that she has a vulnerable and almost tender side to her. Natalie is the kind of character you can’t help but like and route for, but I wouldn't like to get on the wrong side of her.

I didn’t particularly like Alexander from the start, but I had no idea what coming with him – the plot twist totally took me by surprise.
The whole plot was amazing and full of unexpected events and turns which kept me riveted to my kindle.

I thought Malik was particularly well crafted and loved the contrast between Malik and Alexander.

The ending to this story is brilliant and I can’t wait to read to more.

I don’t know the author of this book but I would very much like to. She has a fabulously relaxed writing style and I finished this story feeling as though I'd love to sit down and have a cup of coffee with the author.

So - for someone who didn't like vampire story, I’ve got to say, I’m now hooked. Thank you, Ms Faulks, for a superbly entertaining story.

LOVE IS ETERNAL !!!

Wow! This is my first time reading Kim Faulks and I must say, I am impressed! Reclaimed is the first novella in The Fire and Ice Series and it is an all you can eat buffet of danger, suspense, adventure, paranormal romance, mystical creatures and past lives. The story is exciting, original, imaginative, thrilling, suspenseful, riveting, intelligent, romantic, arousing, sensual and steamy. The dialog is smart, crisp and flows well. There are a few editing errors but overall, well written. The characters are fascinating, captivating, engaging and sexy as sin. Natalie Sommers is a professional bodyguard. She is also a trained killer. She completed two tours in Afghanistan and has licenses to carry five different weapons. As lethal as she is, her newest client, Alexander Ash, just may be the death of her -again! Oh my! Sexy vampire-check! Handsome Djinn-check! Beautiful heroine-check! A menagerie of mystical creatures-check! Suspense, betrayal, unsuspected enemies and danger-check! Romance, love and steamy sex-Oh yeah! Faulks drew me into her web of magic and fantasy on page one and held me totally enthralled until the very last page. I loved it. I can hardly wait to read part two! Exhilarating and entertaining!

Natalie is a bodyguard, she is tuff and strong and yes she is a kick ass chick. She is given a job of looking after Alexander Ash. (Hottie). While on a job looking after Alexander she starts hearing voices and she gets a sense of familiarity.
As the book goes on and the two start getting to know each other , we find theres a twist and Alexander and Natalie were once married.
All so in this book it turns out that Natalie has another guy after her and she gets all confused not knowing who to pick.
I was really impressed with this book, it made a change to find a book with a girl who could kick ass just as much as the guys. I think Kim has a really good writing style , she made me relate to the feelings Natalie had for the two men and the confusion she had over the way she was feeling.
I think you guys should give this book a try, it was a really good read and I really enjoyed it.I'm just hoping this book makes it on to paper back and I manage to get my hands on a copy. because id love to see this book sitting on my shelf along with my other favourites.

If you like dark paranormal romance that borders on being erotica, I recommend this book. I found it a bit dark for my usual taste, but it is well written and held my interest to the end.

This wasn't a book I'd likely read again or ever read it in a single day, but it isn't one I regret reading either. The characters are well debeloped and the story is well written overall. I can't really find fault anywhere. Even the editing, while not perfect, was good. So why only 3 stars? It just never pulled me in enough to make me say, WOW that was great. I may or may not continue the series out of curiosity to see if history will Indeed repeat itself. I'm also curious to learn more about Makkah, who we discover in the last few chapters.

My final thoughts? A good dark story. If you're looking for something a bit different, give it a try. Maybe 3.75 stars would be a good rating if we could only give partial star ratings.

A vampire, a djinn, and the woman they both want.

Not for me. Editing… definitely needs tighter editing.
She was tired and being cooped up in here was causing her to hear his voice as well as think about his body as she pressed herself against the wall while the small pulses of her climax continued to leave her . (Kindle Locations 398-400).

Or,
She was conscious to roll her feet when she stepped , not wanting her intrigue to be noticed . (Kindle Locations 450-451)

*frowns*

The story had potential but the plot is just too confusing, the writing inconsistent, and there’s too much passive voice. I struggled to read it and eventually gave up and skimmed.
Plus, I didn’t actually like Natalie.
This is also part 1 of a longer series and there is no resolution.
Aussies don’t call people schmucks; dickheads maybe…

Reclaimed is the first book that I have read by Kim Faulks. I usually don't read Erotica in any form, paranormal or otherwise. I met the author online via a really close friend of mine who spoke very highly of Kim's writing. We spoke briefly and exchanged books to review for each other. There was a very natural connection, almost a kinship between us-even though she is Australia and I am in the US. Normally, this is not something that I do. It's hard enough finding time to read just for fun, so to review for another author is almost impossible, but I made the exception and boy-howdy am I glad that I did! Kim's writing style is very fluid and her characters are 3 dimensional and solid. Great Job Kim!

ARC for Review. I really enjoyed this lil steamy novella ~ Natalie is a tough bodyguard, she doesn't take crap from anyone either. Alexander Ash, oh my, a gorgeous vampire indeed, but does he have Natalie's best interest in mind? Very clean writing style, the character building was great, world building was different with twists and turns I didn't see coming... Waiting for installment 2

This could be a really good book with a serious rewrite- overhaul the long rambling non-sensical sentences. Fix the continuity issues. Do a major cleanup of the never ending typos. It's a decent enough story that with an honest-to-goodness HARD EDIT might make for an interesting read. I think with the way that it is presented now the author is turning a lot of readers off because it is really, really hard to find the motivation to finish the story.

I quite like a bit of smut now and then to break up the monotony but this was not my cup of tea... concept seems to be a good one but it kinda attacked the page and was a bit too harsh for me... also - watch our for the cliffhanger... I'm not compelled to buy the rest sorry Kim

Confusing

The book was good and some parts were choppy and confusing. I thought thus was a stand alone book when it's not. You have to get the other book(s) to get to the end of the story.

Didn't enjoy this. Book

Didn't enjoy this book. I do like some paranormal but for me this was terrible. Felt like it kept jumping between characters and places. Unfortunately had to give a 1/5 as I don't think I could recommend unless paranormal was your absolute genre for you

She has always found fitting in difficult but she found going to war easy. But her war days are over ... once killing became too easy.
Now she gets to wear weapons as she guards people who can afford her services.

But her latest assignment. . guarding Mr Alexander Ash is difficult.... because inexplicably she is attracted to this man and she starting to hear a voice in her head...
She does give in to her attraction to Alexander abd he explains he has been waiting for her... that she is his wife reincarnated..She finds this easy believe..
even though this means believing he is immortal.
But she is captured by another being and he raises by bar on what she considers sexual attraction... he tells her that he has been waiting for her as well..
my first question would have been ... why did I die in first place?
.. who killed me?

then the book ends
seriously? ??
when did it become the norm to write half a book?? this is quite frustrating..
I like the character of Natalie but not sure if I will continue thus story.
