* You need to read the previous books, especially the first book.

When a playboy doctor dies under mysterious circumstances GBH agent Conrad Ryan is on the case. What he couldn't have known was that this case would change his life, because he meets the sunny groundskeeper of the local cemetery Jane Ladling. With her sleuthing and his investigative skills they have to solve the murder before Jane could be placed in actual danger. But life is not all about solving murders, love is in the air and neither of them could have expected it.

This is the first book all over again, but now from Conrads perspective. I loved it just as much as the first book, even though this entry felt a bit too sappy. I'm not sure if guys are always this into a girl they have just seen once and even for a love at first sight type of romance this was a bit over the top. But it still has the epic investigation and even though you know who did it, it was fun and it read like a dream. Great flow, epic humor and all in all a really entertaining read.

I never know what to expect with ‘same story different perspective’ but I really liked this. Jt was cute getting to see Conrad’s view of hurricane Jane and I loved his bromance with Beau! Overall, I enjoyed seeing the story all over again. I’m now onto the last book and quite sad I’ll be saying goodbye to my loves but I’m excited to see how it’s all tied together 💙

While technically this is book 5 in the series it's Conrad's pov from book 1, Romancing The Gravestone, so if you're just starting the series you could read it after the first book. I have to say it was so good getting to experience all of his emotions first hand and getting a deeper look into his relationship with Jane. I love not only seeing it from both persons perspective but also how we get answers to some burning questions we've had since we started this series almost immediately! Plus we get to see all the ins and outs of his side of the investigation and how he solved it.

This book really gives you a closer look into his sweeter softer side that we saw glimpses of in the previous books from Jane's point of view. There was a lot more going on behind the scenes then we were privy to and I'm here for it! I liked Conrad before but this book really makes you fall harder for him and his rivalry, er sorry his plan to win over, with Rolex is just so dang cute! Reminds me of my own cat Kaia and my husband's relationship for the first two years we had her hahaha.

It was wonderful seeing how Beau and Conrad's friendship started, which was not only sweet but hilarious. I was actually team Beau from the start even though I loved both guys but had Conrad's pov been in book one as well I'm not sure how I would have been able to choose at all between them! Beau so needs an amazing woman, I volunteer as tribute just so you know Gena and Jill! 😉

I wouldn't be opposed if the future books had not only Jane's and Conrad's point of view in them but Beau as well, unless they want to dedicate an entire series to him, I'm more than happy to wait for his story! If they happen to throw in a few chapters here and there where we get to see into the innermost workings of my favorite male Rolex's mind with his many many plots of murder and world domination aspersions, well that would just make these wonderful books even better. I can't wait for the next installment of this cute and quirky series.

I have to admit that I'm always a little sceptic when it comes to "same story, different perspective" books. Especially when the original book was a cozy mystery. I'm always wondering what the new perspective will add and why the book would be worth reading. However, I really love this series. Jane is one of the most amazing characters I've ever encountered and therefore I was curious what Conrad thought when meeting her for the first time. I'm therefore really glad I got an arc!

Since this book is basically the same story, and therefore also the same mystery, as the first book in the series the focus of the book has shifted. The mystery is taking more of a backseat. We do get to see what information Conrad gathers and how he's interviewing people, but it's clear that his head isn't fully in the game. His head is clearly with our favorite gravekeeper and how she changes up his entire life by simply being her unique self.

I love how Conrad is basically falling for her from the very first moment he sees her. He doesn't need to get used to her way of thinking, her way of talking and her way of looking at the world. He sees her and all of a sudden he realizes that his entire life is about to change and that the main reason he wants to have this case solved as soon as possible is that he's then finally free to start dating the gravekeeper (since she's then no longer a suspect).

And since the focus is mostly on Conrad's feelings and how he reacts to hurricane Jane coming into his life the book has a really light and cozy tone, even more so than the original book. And it's also sort of refreshing to read about a guy experiencing this feeling. Especially because he shows very soon that he's truly willing to go and fight for this girl. And I can't blame him. I already loved Jane when she was the heroine. I loved her even more through Conrad's eyes.

I might not be a fan of same stories from a different perspective, but in this case I do like more!

At the scene of the first murder, Conrad Ryan falls headfirst for the grave keeper. This story is the retelling of the first book in the series from Conrad’s point of view. Finally we get to see the inner workings of the mind of this very special agent.

The author brought us back to the Garden of Memories space dab in the analytical mind of Conrad. They gave us his methods of fleshing out the killer all while letting us see how fast he fell for Jane. It was interesting to have certain scenes from his perspective such as Jane’s cold. This story makes the series a whole so much better than it already is.

From his first appearance in book one, I’ve often wondered how Beau and Conrad went from both wanting Jane to friends and this story gave us the insight into that change. This book was all the little things we didn’t know we wanted!

Remember when I said I didn't enjoy having the fmc's pov chapters retold by the mmc? THIS IS THE EXCEPTION! Not only did this retell the story with new details that kept the mystery fun (despite knowing the outcome), but it had so many details that were hidden/hinted at before, and I can't believe it made me love every singel character even MORE!
And Conrad baby? No one is doing it like you. More men who yearn, know what they want and chase it, please and thank you!!

A big thank you to Gena Showalter and Jill Monroe for providing me with an arc in exchange for an honest review. All thoughts are my own.

Falling For The Gravekeeper is technically the fifth book in the Jane Ladling Mystery Series but it's actually taking place during the events of the first book Romancing The Gravestone. Each book so far in the series is told from Jane’s incredible but bewildering mind, now Conrad gets to tell us his side of things!

We get to meet these amazing and quirky characters all over again from the eyes of Agent Spice himself. How Special Agent Ryan's plain and ordinary life of solitude and detachment is turned upside down by a bewitching cemetery owner that is not only beautiful and charming, but has a hankering for justice, that just can’t help but want to solve a murder that happened on her property. Conrad is pulled into hurricane Jane and he doesn’t want to leave. She provokes a piece in himself he didn’t know he was missing until he met her.

Jane is our lovely gravekeeper that not only has a murder happen in her cemetery but she keeps inserting herself in Conrad’s way at every point during his investigation. His inner monologue is really a huge contrast as to what we see from his interactions with Jane from her perspective. How he is experiencing so many new emotions that he has never felt before towards anyone, let alone dealing with a woman he has a deep desire to get to know better. You see him coming out of his shell that he has created around himself from his traumatic past and how one woman is changing the course of his thoughts, actions, and desires, not just for her but for himself as well. She brings so many things around him to light that he hardly noticed before.

Jane is a wonder and while reading Romancing The Gravestone you really get to see how bewildering her mind is but also how effective it is at sleuthing and determining situations. So to see her actions and thought process through someone else’s eyes really adds such an element to this book. Not to mention Jane’s adorable cat Rolex who is the best watch cat that likes to terrorize every visitor. You gotta love it! Haha especially Conrad trying to win Rolex over so he can win Jane over. It’s just too cute.

We really get a lot of insight in this story and I loved that. Finally we know what Conrad’s tattoo’s mean and the significance of them that we didn’t know before. Also the interactions between Conrad, Beau and Fiona that we weren’t privy to, was such a fun way to reflect on the other story. I enjoyed the competition between Conrad and Beau. The banter and their hilarious exchanges were fun to see. How Conrad reacted to Fiona and her blatant honesty and advice was very enjoyable. Poor Conrad really had no idea what he was getting into when he was assigned to this case! It definitely left him a changed man, that's for sure. Seeing how Conrad processed things opposed to Jane was really interesting to witness as well. He’s very by the book but also has so much experience in his career to back up exactly how to handle almost all situations. So to see him trying to figure out how to handle Jane and people of Aurelian Hills was a joy in itself.

I would really love to see the rest of the books being retold from Conrad’s perspective! This book has been so fun and insightful, I really hope that they will consider doing more! I already loved Conrad but Gena and Jill are making it really difficult not to sway to a little team Beau as well. This series is always such a bright spot for me and I truly adore how Gena and Jill work together so flawlessly to create such a great series. The way they are able to add the undercurrents to these books always takes me by surprise. Jane’s perspective is very airy and light and with Conrad’s perspective you can feel his masculinity and energy sewn through this story. Truly a wonder how they can put these energies into this series and it just seeps off the page! I love it!

I highly recommend this series to anyone. They really are must reads in my opinion. The Jane Ladling Mystery Series will bring you so much love, warmth, and laughter! I can’t wait for more!

Focus on the dead body, not the brunette.

I really enjoyed this book. Falling for the Gravekeeper tells the story of Romancing the Gravestone (the first book in the series) exclusively from Conrad's point on view, and I think that Gena & Jill did a brilliant job with it.

I don't believe it's easy to rewrite the same story from a completely different POV. You have to create new scenes, but also revisit scenes we've read about from a different angle, and honestly just thinking about it gives me a headache, but Gena & Jill nailed it!

I loved being in Conrad's head, he was—and still is—a pretty mysterious character so it was so fun to hear what he had to say and see his reaction to Jane. Falling for the Gravekeeper is much more romance-centered than Romancing the Gravestone in my opinion, just because Conrad has his sights on Jane almost from the start and knows what he wants. I also really enjoyed seeing his relationship with Beau, it gives us a new perpective on that character as well.

Another thing I really liked was the fact that, unlike the infamous Jane Ladling, Conrad is actually a real detective/special agent, so it was fun to follow his thought process while trying to solve the murder and seeing the other side of things. Don't get me wrong, I love Jane's terrible (but effective) ways of solving a case, but again, I think the authors did a great job in showing a different take on the whole case and how he managed to solve it.

Can you read this book if you haven't read the others? Yes, you can! This is the first book told from a different perspective, so you can absolutely read it first. I think having read Jane's first makes it more fun because you know her reactions to certain things already and it makes reading this one even better, but if you want to start with this one, you totally can.

All in all, I think this is another big win for the Showalter & Monroe duo. I wouldn't mind reading more books from Conrad's POV. I really enjoy this fun cozy mystery series. The books are easy to read and make for a super enjoyable time. Plus, I think everyone should experience the chaos that is Jane Ladling at least once.

Disclaimer: I was able to read an early copy of this book as I work for the author.

**DISCLAIMER: I did receive early access to this book by being a member of Gena and Jill’s amazing Patreon.**

I’ve known since reading Romancing the Gravestone that I was #TeamConrad but, reading Falling for the Gravekeeper completely cemented that for me. That man is something special, God I love him. And, he is quite literally Jane’s perfect match.

Falling for the Gravekeeper is Conrad’s POV of Romancing the Gravestone. Now, this can be read as a stand-alone but, I wholeheartedly recommend reading this series if you’re a fan of murder mysteries with a slow burning romance. This series is so much fun! Jane is our sweet, quirky heroine and Conrad is her exact opposite. A serious, intense but, swoon worthy guy and they just work. So well together!

I loved this book so much. I imagine it’s not the easiest thing to re-write one of your books from a different characters POV but, Gena and Jill rocked it. Getting these glimpses into Conrad’s thoughts, the different takes on all the scenes with Jane were brilliant! If you didn’t already love Conrad from reading the first three books.. prepare to fall even more head over heels in love with that man in this book. I totally did!

The first time he called her sweetheart? The first time he called her Cupcake? I’m telling you, you’ll be swooning! Ugh, I can’t get enough.

When Conrad flies over to Jane’s house after she finds Rolex? And then you read this paragraph….

“Punch. His inner world spun. Suddenly, the scorching heat didn't bother him. Conrad inhaled deep, drinking in all things Jane. Honeysuckle and roses. Magnolia and gardenia. Home.
In the dictionary of his life, a mental picture of this moment would forever hang alongside the words peace and joy.”

I was swooning… how can you not?!

Honestly, it was so beautiful and so well written. This book deserves all the praise. Bravo to two of my favorite authors; Gena Showalter and Jill Monroe! Go pick up this series if you’ve haven’t!!

Heh. Jane wasn't the only one who fell and fell hard when murderous circumstances had Special Agent Conrad Ryan heading to Aurelian Hills. Conrad was hit by Cupid's love whammy stick, too. He was just a teeeeeeny bit better about hiding it.

That said, he was pretty much immediately smitten with Jane's big blue eyes, her quirky ability to lead any conversation into heretofore untapped directions, and those amazing hats she enjoys.

Despite all that, he did try to convince himself that relationships weren't his thing. Jane being Jane (cold medicine induced ramblings and all), she soon had him realizing that pretending he didn't relationships was painfully unfun. Soon the lone wolf was bonding with Jane's best guy friend, eating pancakes with her BFF, attempting to win over her cat, and enjoying Jane's ability to whip up a feast in no time flat.

He also had to solve that murder that brought him into town. While Jane was off putting herself in danger as she followed her own erratic path of clues, Conrad was interviewing witnesses, following up on information, and trying to keep Jane out of serious trouble.

Man, these two were a hoot. *thumbs up*

I received an Advanced Reader Copy, and this is my honest review.

How can I say how amazing this book is? We all know that Conrad fell for Jane almost immediately, how could he not? But to have his point of view is the best! Conrad is our fierce protector and loveable "bad boy", and I am all for it. He has that hardcore vibe to him and that dangerous air that he lets loose for the bad guys and how I want to be a bad girl for him but Jane, I concede him to you. I'll take Beau (we need a book for him as well). I was not expecting Conrad to be so much fun to read. I know there is a whole other side to him but to get an insight into his mind and know what he is feeling for Jane and another view of the case is perfection. Throw in Rolex and his thoughts toward him and all is right in the world again. I am so happy to have read this book and I'm wanting more of his viewpoint and more of Jane, Beau, Fiona and especially Rolex. Love all around for this series.

I devoured this book in a day once I was able to get away from family and distractions and it was worth it and more!!

Less of a new book in this small town, cosy, murder mystery series and more a superb look at the first book in the series, through the POV of Conrad. A chance to see how the gruff, commitment phobic, stoic and all around super Agent manages to fall butt over teakettle in love with the quirkiest, scatty brained, hat loving Graveskeeper!

Conrad well and truly fell first for the enigmatic Jane. He has some early rivalry with Beau for her affections but I had to laugh at the way they sort of bro-coded their way out of fighting for her affections LOL. He is definitely a man with a plan and there is now way he's letting Jane's "curse" get in his way. He really does have to fight a full on smile at some of her antics and pretend to be the stern homicide cop.

You could certainly read this without having read book 1 but I think I would read this after book 1, so you can see the whole he said/she said that is going on in Jane and Conrad's mind. I can't wait for the next Ladling adventure. Will Conrad and Beau make it through the chaos that Jane seems to attract/create?

For several books now we've read about Jane and her thoughts and her investigations and her crazy hijinx. And I've loved every minute of them. But....I needed something more. And the authors delivered it with this book!

I was so excited when I realized this was Conrad's side of the story after he gets to meet and admire the wonder that is Jane and her many hats. And her cat, Rolex. And her graveyard. I laughed over his thoughts about (his cupcake) Jane, the interesting town of Aurelian Hills, and the beginning of his bro-mance with Beau. This book was fun and funny and an awesome peek into the thoughts of the super yummy Special Agent Spice, er..Conrad Ryan.

I highly recommend reading Romancing The Gravestone (first book in the series) before reading this book, if only for context (but mostly because it's great. And you'll enjoy it. And there's a cat.). Ummm...ok bye!

Many thanks to the authors and Author Talk Media for an advance copy of this book. My thoughts and opinions are my own and without bias or favor or expectation.

Just when I thought I couldn't love the Jane Ladling books any more, Gena Showalter and Jill Monroe had to go and give us Conrad's point of view.

A retelling of Romancing the Gravestone, Falling For the Gravekeeper gives readers a different perspective of what happened when Jane finds a body where it doesn't belong. With his skills as a special agent, Conrad brought an air of authority and gravitas to the case that Jane definitely couldn't.

(I love Jane, but let's be honest - a trained detective, she is not. And that's part of why I love her.)

Conrad's story is everything I had hoped it would be. I loved seeing the investigation through his eyes and learning bits of information that we didn't originally get in Jane's POV. But what I loved most of all about Conrad's side of things is how quickly this pensive, stoic character fell for Jane after meeting her. As it turns out, Conrad was internally shipping himself with Jane since day one and I loved that for them.

The Jane Ladling series is all around fun to read, and getting the story from Conrad's perspective doesn't change that. We do get details about Conrad's personal life that Jane doesn't get until further along in her relationship with him, so even though this is a retelling of the first book it really should be read in publishing order.

With Conrad's dry humor and Showalter and Monroe's fantastic writing style, fans of Jane Ladling will not want to miss this new perspective. The mystery itself might not be a surprise, but there's a whole lot more to the story left to tell.

*A huge thank you to both Gena Showalter and Jill Monroe for sharing an early copy of Falling For the Gravekeeper*

I received a copy of this novella as a Kindle ARC (thank you!) but the views below are my own.

Knowing how this mystery unfolds from Jane's perspective is one thing. But getting it from the big bad GBH Detective Officer Conrad...is something else. Like icing on cinnamon, or blueberries to waffles, this pair just melds so well together. I love how Conrad sees Jane. Past her awkwardness, past her little nuances that make Jane, well, Jane. He sees her for what she is and he is head over gravestone for her. And it's adorable.

But enough about their relationship that I'm sure Jane doesn't want us jinxing, she has enough from the Ladling curse as is...Conrad is cool headed when it comes to solving this case, even if he is having difficulties focusing away from *the brunette*. Seeing how his mind works, him jumping in to save Jane is really what I am here for. And maybe, just maybe, to have a sugar muffin loaf like Conrad to myself.

All in all, we know the story and how it ends. But we get a whole new spin on it, and I really like seeing the inside of Conrad's mind. I'm sure Jane is jealous of us, as I would be too.

My only complaint? IT WAS SO SHORT! But just as adorable and quirky as we expected it. 5/5. Highly recommend. Rolex does too btw!

When you read a whole book series from only one POV you really start to wonder exactly how the love interest feels….. well this book is the first book in the series from the hero’s POV and OMG did it deliver! He is so obsessed with her- it was absolutely delicious.

Our hero is an FBI agent who is sent to a small town to investigate a murder for a body found in a cemetery. However, not only does he find a dead body in the cemetery, he finds the cute and quirky gravekeeper and he decides he will do anything to keep her close… and in his life.

The best thing about this book being from the hero’s perspective is that you don’t need to have read the other books. Also even though I had already read this book from the heroine’s POV so the mystery plot line was no surprise, it didn’t feel repetitive at all and I really enjoyed it! I need more Jane and Conrad!

I just love when you get to read a great story from a different characters prospective! You really never can read a book again for the first time unless it is done this way. You get the chance to delve deeper in to the characters insights and get a whole new take on the same situations. It allows everything to feel new and different because it really is!

I fell in love with Conrad during the previous books through Janes interactions and encounters with him. It is something entirely different to get to know first hand what Conrad was truly feeling, thinking and what makes him tick. It all just made me love him even more.

This still has all the charm and sweetness of the rest of the series but now it is all wrapped up in Conrad falling for Jane!

Sooooo, this took me FOREVER to read. Because it was absolutely amazing.
Listening to Conrad's inner thoughts?! Yes, please!
I had to savor it as long as I could! I couldn't help myself. I think it's my favorite one yet. (Yes, I might say that about each new book. But I mean it this time!)
Honestly, I was wondering how Gena & Jill was gonna top Jane's story, but they did it. Personally, I adore reading about a man who knows what he wants, isn't afraid to admit it, and goes after it. And that's 100% Conrad.
Also, it was so interesting hearing about the case from his perspective.
I really can't express enough how cute this series is. One of my favorites!

This is the utterly adorable POV of Conrad’s version of the first book in this series. It’s been a while since I’ve read the first one so I’m not sure how much dialogue is repeated. But there is a lot of original material as we see what Conrad is up to while Jane is up to getting into trouble.

I have always wondered what Conrad was doing and how he was conducting his investigation while Jane was conducting hers. And honestly, he was as adorable as Jane is. I can totally see why they fit together so well.

Never in the whole of his existence had a woman ogled him so blatantly or suggestively. Especially after using such a polite southern drawl. Just how was he supposed to respond?

“Nice, um, hat.” Strangely enough, he meant those words with every fiber of his being.

This series quickly became one of my favorites with the funny, quirky, lovable Jane Ladling & Special Agent Conrad Ryan. It was a nice twist to read his POV on the same story vs Jane’s & made me love him & Jane even more. There’s a murder at Jane’s family cemetery & Agent Ryan is assigned the case and he finds himself intrigued by Jane, who is just as attracted to him. The scenes with Beau just crack me up too, so funny!! I can’t say enough about this book & series, you are truly missing out if you haven’t read them!! Jane is such an interesting, endearing character & I can’t wait for the next book for more of Jane, Conrad & friends antics. I voluntarily read for an honest review.

I really enjoyed getting to read about Conrad's side of the story. The Jane Ladling books are done fully from Jane's point of view and I am the type of reader who enjoys getting both the main character's take on a scene. This story was so cute. If you have read the first book in the series you know how the murder ends but what I enjoyed was knowing how much Jane affected Conrad right away and we even get to see more interaction between Conrad and Beau which opens up a bit of what Beau was doing during this first book as well. I'm really hoping that we'll get to see more from Conrad's point of view or a book with both.

Falling For The Gravekeeper
Conrad’s Story
By Gena Showalter and Jill Monroe

This is the fourth book in A Jane Ladling Mystery series.
But in this book the time is set during the first book but instead of Jane’s point of view. It’s in Conrad’s point of view and I’m here for it! I completely loved it! I wish I would have read the first book and this one at the same time to get both points of view! I love seeing how he falls for her!
These cozy mysteries feel just like home when I need it the most.
Definitely jumping into the next book in the series!

While I definitely enjoyed the previous books in this series, I think this was my favorite. It was so fun and heartwarming to hears Conrad's side of everything. He's so taken with Jane and his affection is unwavering. Conrad...sigh. So sexy. Jane...so quirky and likable.

The characters are so engaging in this series. I liked Beau and Conrad's back and forth as they both vie for Jane. I loved when they become friends. The authors did a great job of not replaying the entire first book but giving us enough to be engaged and understanding of the murder and the suspects.

This book may be a cozy mystery but I believe it will appeal to any reader.

Thanks to the authors for the ARC.

Absolutely my favorite of the series so far! Since this is Conrad's POV. We already know the story but let me tell you, I really enjoyed his voice telling it. His thoughts and reactions made the story. Jane just cracks me up, would love to have a friend like her. Rolex is the purfect cat, I'm just saying.
The entire storyline is fantastic, funny with a bit of romance. The secondary characters were just as special and I look forward to more adventures with Gena and Jill.

It is nice to have a story told from a different character’s perspective. When you switch the focus from one character to another, it allows for more insight into that character’s build as to why they did the things they did in the other character’s view. Explains why things were done before but didn’t really have a reason why they did what they did. I hope we get Beau’s and Fiona’s views as well.

This was my favorite so far! I knew that I needed his POV, and I loved every minute! I wished the authors had written dual POV in the first book, since this story was the same, we knew the killer but it had pieces of the story we didn’t get because we didn’t have his side!
I loved how he didn’t want to fall for her but in the end he didn’t have a chance!!
I wished that in the end when they supposedly had their talk, and I already knew they wouldn’t, I wished that they had talked, it was going to be interesting!

This book is a fantastic read that once you start you will be unable to put down. It moves along at a pace that is perfect for this story. The characters are amazing and you want to be there for them and you will end up loving them. This story is a must read, that needs to be at the top of your TBR list, there is no doubt about it.

I love this series and to see it from Conrad's side of it was wonderful.

Finding out more about Conrad and seeing certain scenes from his side instead of Jane's side was fun and informative. I especially loved when she was sick. I love how fast he fell for Jane and her quirks.

I can't wait to see what is in store for the couple.

I love Conrad's POV. Such a great book! Can't wait for more. I loved knowing how Conrad felt about Jane rather than just seeing it through Jane.
I did enjoy watching Conrad and Beau become friends as well.
