Charlie Pulsipher began creating visual stories as soon as he could hold a crayon. Poems came in high school. College developed into short stories. Then hotel management sucked all the joy out of everything, until his first novel finally came to light. There was no stopping him after. He writes constantly and creates cardboard sculptures the rare times he finds a break.

He has been writing professionally since 2010, working as a copywriter, ghostwriter, and author. He became an established artist in 2019 with his first show featuring his intricate cardboard creations. His velociraptor impression is probably the coolest thing about him though. So, say hello.

Quick and very helpful book. Explains how to prepare for the inevitable zombie apocalypse in clear, funny words. This book was amusing, and a quick read, it also had some good suggestions for how to prepare for any disaster (Ex. Having a first aid kit and an emergency plan are good suggestions for any disaster.) Overall just a fun and goofy book, but it could save your life!

Sometimes you just need to read something funny - this fits the bill. My rating 4.5.

Very funny! Just read the blurb and you can’t miss the tongue-in-check humor. Actually, the prep info is nicely set forth and would be helpful for other (more likely) disasters like losing power due to hurricanes, tornadoes or blizzards. Just remember – don’t go to the mall! And plan ahead for an escape route just in case you are out shopping at a mall when a catastrophe strikes (and sadly, nowadays, that could happen more often than we’d like to think).

Zombie books often bring fear and stress. There is a little of that in this one, but along with that there is a big dose of laughter. The book includes stick drawn illustrations that made me chuckle. This is a very fun read and perfect for a “Z” in Alphabet Challenge at the end of the year. Pick it up and get some grins; share it with friends so you will have some other survivors as companions (or bait?). I hope to read something else by Mr. Pulsipher as I enjoyed the style.

READ THE ORIGINAL AND COMPLETE REVIEW (AND MANY MORE) AT WORD SPELUNKING

We’ve all been there, at a party; dinner; gathering; book club meeting, and the topic of the inevitable Zombie Apocalypse has come up (I use the word inevitable because hundreds of movies, tv shows, books, video games, theorists, historians, geeks, and nerds can’t ALL be wrong right…right?!). I know my family has lively discussions about what we’d do if faced with an apocalyptic event at least once a week (I kid you not).

And admit it, we ALL have thought about what we’d do if the ZA (short for Zombie Apocalypse, duh) started tomorrow and we ALL have a plan. They might not all be good plans, but they’re plans nonetheless. Now, I want you to take a moment and think about the plan you’ve come up with, all the details about where you’d go, what you’d bring, what you’d do…can you visualize the plan? Good! Now, I want you to toss that plan aside and read Charles Pulsipher’s Zombies At The Door, Planning for the Inevitable.

In this incredibly funny, smart guide Pulsipher maps out exactly what a person needs to do in order to survive when zombies come a’zomby’ingß in the words of Pulsipher himself-“It’s a word, I swear!”.

Pulsipher has created a straightforward, well thought out plan that will have you LOL’ing and will probably safe your life someday. All the most important bases are covered- Where To Go, What To Bring, Weapons, Zombie Anatomy-and, really, this is a guide that would work in any apocalyptic or catastrophic event.

You’ll learn priceless and must-know information such as:
· Screaming = Bacon
· Don’t go the mall
· Swords are awesome (not just when zombies are around, but all
the time)
· Seriously, don’t go to the mall
· The higher up you can get, the better
· Baseball is boring
· Zombies no likey fire… or in Zombiese- Brains good. Fire bad.
· DO. NOT. GO. TO. THE. MALL!!!!

MY FINAL THOUGHTS: Zombies at the Door, Planning for the Inevitable is a humorous, highly entertaining read. It’s laugh out loud funny and informative at the same time, which is about as rare as a vegetarian zombie. If you’re looking for a great book to add to your Incase Of A insert your most feared/expected/longed for (weirdo) Apocalypse/Natural Disaster/Catastrophic Event Kit or simply looking for an awesome, super quick read, then this book is for you. A MUST read!

This was a very short read. Had I known that, I probably would have went without a copy. Regardless, it arrived last week and I had it finished this weekend with only a few minutes of reading here and there.

Although some amusing and innovative ideas were given on surviving the zombie apocalypse, it really didn't do a lot for me. I suppose this felt like a less serious and much shorter version of the Zombie Survival Guide.

OK. I am not really concerned with an uprising of the living dead. If it happens, I guess I'll have as much chance as anyone else with my particular skill sets. I like reading about zombies and watching zombie films. I just hoped for a bit more with this book.

All in all, it's entertaining. I just wouldn't recommend it to anyone who isn't a zombie completist or looking for much.

This book was free on Amazon and thought it sounded funny. It was fairly entertaining. It is very short (66 pages in my kindle app on my phone). It is a good idea. I think it has probably been done better elsewhere, but I still enjoyed it. The funniest part is the beginning. It has a very comical voice. Then it kind of goes into lists, which require immense comedic talent to make funny.

It was good enough to make me pick up another funny survival guide.

I have a sense of humor. I do. I just don't think this book is funny. Aside from the fact that I was totally distracted from his use of "your" instead of "you're" in the first paragraph, I thought this was a book my 8 year old could have written. It's about the same level. Yes, I know I shouldn't expect any different from a book of this genre, but I was hoping for a more mature kind of humor.

I thought it was fun and funny. This was written by a friend of my husband's - although I didn't know it when I found it loaded onto my Kindle. I love that it has a very useful 72-hour kit and first aid kit guide at the end.

This book is a perfect how-to guide on the zombie apocalypse that is pending. It is a great reference guide for what to do when the worst happens. There are also several good pointers to keep in mind in case of any mass tragedy or environmental event where you might not want to go outside ever again. Or at least for awhile. I mean. I don't want to go outside now, but I have to in order to go to work and have the funds to stockpile goods. This is the prepper guide I suggest for everyone, even the beginners.

Full of common information that I have seen over and over again, this was just a shorter, crappier version of the Zombie Survival Guide, and wasn't even that funny. At only 66 pages I finished reading it in one sitting, maybe 2 hours.
Unless you are a 10 year old and this is your first zombie book, or you are like me and must own everything related to the living dead, I would pass on this book.
At $10 on Amazon.com, Zombies at the Door, Planning for the Inevitable was highly over priced.
The jokes were just plain stupid and the hints the author gives for surviving a zombie apocalypse will end up getting you eaten.
Over all, I would pass on this book, or if you can get it for very cheap, pick it up just to own it, not to use it when the hordes are at your front door, because if you do decide to follow the advise, you will end up being zombie food and I will be the first one to laugh in your half eaten face and put a bullet in your rotten brain.

This outré how-to manual was an amusing way to kill an hour while I waited for my computer to factory restore. It turned a stressful situation laughable, and for that I say "Thanks, Charlie"!
Now, if you're a serious zombie nut (I'm being overly cautious here, so as not to offend the people who gave this a one star review, as they probably didn't understand the dry, oftentimes whimsical, satire depicted in these pages) then this book is NOT for you... Just keep on building your reinforced compounds in the wilds of Montana, or Waco, and stockpiling food and machetes(because REAL zombies only die if you be head them)... Okay, I'm way off track here. If you enjoy tongue-in-cheek wit, satire, puns, and queer little doodles, then this book is for you. You're smart enough to know who you are!

I received Zombies at the Door as an ARC version from the author. The gifting did not determine the review/rating, which reflects my honest opinion. This little "self-help" book was a fun break from my normal reading. Some of the survival info translates to any major emergency (although, I'll admit wielding an axe or machete may be outside the limits of my abilities). The author was kind enough to include emergency kit information in this reading. Be prepared, be very prepared. This is good for a smile.

Entertaining!

This book was a funny and entertaining guide to surviving a zombie apocalypse. It was a quick read and had me chuckling at some of the commentary. The illustrations were hilarious. If you are looking for a quick and funny read about what to do in case of a zombie invasion... grab this book.

I would classify this as more of an essay; it was very short. It was entertaining in spots, but, certainly, no "Zombieland." Really a primer for what to be prepared for in case of zombie attack. Glad I didn't pay for it.
