The second book in the Go Kids series, this book follows on from where A Shadow Passed Over The Son finished. I can’t really go too much into the plot as it would contain spoilers, so it’s recommended that you read the first book first (or see my first review) to get an idea of the story.

One of my complaints of the first book was that the pace was a little too slow – thankfully that’s not an issue here. From the start of the book we are thrown into the action and the pace doesn’t slow down. I actually found myself reading the whole book in one go without realising it! The book had a way of dragging me into the story as more secrets are revealed that made me want to read more.

I really like the characters in these books; they are kids are obviously they are somewhat childish in their behaviour, but they are kinda being forced to grow up due to the circumstances and the war-torn world they live in. They all have their own charms and likeability. Even Colby, who is a bit of an obnoxious prat, is rather funny at times and comes out with some of the most random stuff I’ve ever heard (including a really humorous Christopher Walken tirade). Even some of the background characters are fleshed out enough to make them interesting.

However, and this was an issue that I had with the last book – again it ends too abruptly for my liking. Mr Schneider seems to have a liking for cliffhanger endings, and whilst that’s not a problem in the least, I just felt that this novel was a little too short for my liking. I easily could have read through another few chapters.

That being said, this is a really good series of books so far. I think it would work really well as a film or TV series. If any producers out there are looking for ideas – I’d give this one a look in.

Will I read more of this series? Absolutely! I want to find out what happens to Parker and the other characters. Like I said, I don’t want to give too many spoilers away, but based on how this book ended, I’m expecting a pretty huge battle next book. I look forward to reading it.

Until then, I give Hallowed Be Thy Name a well deserved 5/5!

This is the second book (extended novella?) in the Go-Kids series. It picks up right where the first book ended. It's somewhat difficult to speak about this book without spoiling the first book, so I guess mark for spoilers and away we go.

In just about every sense, this is a full continuation of a single story. The characters are still who they were, and we can figure out a little more about them. Two new characters are introduced whom I suspect will be major parts of the continuing story.

Colby Max, ever much a spoiled child, demonstrates some remarkable character depth in some of his comments, reflecting a perception of reality outside of his own insular world. Parker, the main character, manages to maintain his composure in the midst of some spectacular sights at the underground hangar. bubba and Sunny continue along, being the supporting characters they are, somewhat necessary but not quite demonstrating their true importance yet.

It's amazing how little action takes place in this story, yet things never seemed slowed down.

This has the potential to be a really good movie or two, or perhaps a TV series -- Battlestar Galactica for youngsters! Wish I had the wherewithal to make it happen.

Recommended for anyone into YA sci-fi, or just some good kids' adventure.
