Probably the best book on processing acorns that I have read. Gives a good understanding of the various complexities that the native americans accounted for. (e.g. quality of sand used for leeching, types of baskets used, how to select a cooking rock).

Julia Parker is a force to be reckoned with, and this book is such a tender, intimate glimpse into her life.

Julia Parker is a heroine of magnitude, though mostly unrecognized. For those of you who have not met her in person, please do so before she moves on from this world. This book tells so much, tells it like it is, real doing, real making.
