Wow that was just horrible. First it’s very rapey. Then just throw in a demonic procession out of no where there happily ever after. Really!

This is actually the first Layla Sparks book I've been able to finish... and it was a struggle for me. This book gave me whiplash to be honest. Especially in the second half. I see Layla's book recommended to tiktok all the time, and the plot always sounds right up my alley. But when I start reading I just find myself confused. The writing is just... I don't want to be rude but it feels like I am reading at like a middle school level if that makes sense? The writing does not flow well, there are conversations that seem to end out of nowhere leaving me questioning what just happened.

The MMCs were straight up disregarding her consent from the get-go. I honest to god thought they were the antagonists at first. I wouldn't even call it dubious consent or CNC, it was straight up non-consent y'all.

There was also confusing and seemingly random conflict. A demon seemed to appear out of thin air, same with the sexual assault.

This is the third or fourth books of Layla's that I've tried to read, and I was determined to see it through. Now that I have, I give up... I'm sorry.

The transition in the book was nuts.

This book went from cute to weird to supernatural insanity to juvenile writing.

Each transition was so jarring it seemed as if it wasn’t planned and the idea wasn’t well thought out.

I’m not sure what I just read, it was so weird.

And it really only felt she had a relationship with 3 of the pack members (arguably mostly 2). Nick was just there, he wasn’t even a complete character he was literally just there as body written into scenes.

This was just bad.....
And this may spoil some of the plot, but I'd recommend a lot of other books before I'd recommend this, so read at your own discretion.

Firstly there is so much ...dubious consent or coercion going on. She repeatedly tells "her" alphas no or that she is uncomfortablewith what theyare doing, but they just steamroll her or uses her designation against her to get what they want regardless of if it is what she wants

Secondly, the king of demons.... this lady has been tormented by him for YEARS, sending omegas to their death, letting him sexually assault the heroine in this book, but he goes away and leaves them all if she just tells him to leave?
And the demon-thing was not even really part of the plot before or after? And they just forgive her? She is the reason their wife was killed???

Thirdly, how stupid and ignorant do you have to be to take a pregnant lady -days away from giving birth- out on a yacht hours away from shore? That is just a recipe for disaster and drama, and this really didn't need that, couldn't they just have one happy beautiful moment instead?

And lastly, the mother saying she regrets not choosing a different pack and that she is happy now "but not as happy as she could have been" is so terrible? She was already a bad mom and annoying character, but wow okey...

This might be the worst thing I’ve ever read in my life. It felt like a story written by a 13 year old on a blog. The plot was rushed, the characters were forgettable (could not remember the difference between Dravin and Nick), the smut was uncomfortable, I could not get over a man being named BRUCE, and I love how we are just going to skate over the fact that she was RAPED AND TORTURED by a demon and then is totally fine afterwards???? I wish I could give this book negative stars because 1 seems entirely too generous.

WTF was that??

I don't recommend this at all.

It started as omegaverse and then in seems that layla had a bad trip and the end of the book was demons, possessions and CNC.

Poorly written, not consistent.

It was short enough that it didn't take long to read

I love how there’s a lot of ratings below 3 stars and here I am with my 4 star! 😂 I get it. This one was weird at times but reading this at this point of my life, where I have a lot of stuff happening, this book helped me relax so maybe don’t take my rating seriously..?

Writing was horrible as were the characters. Felt like some kid wrote the story. It would have made more sense of all the characters were pre teen maybe

Some parts were a bit weird🧐 Like, they just meet her and insist to get her naked in front of them to get her bathed🤨 and they used their authority for it... Didn't make sense...and how could she agreed to this or didn't be upset afterward???🙄

only saving grace is it’s not AI written

Badly written as is all of the series. I actually can’t believe I read through 1 book let alone the first 5.

Couple things got to me like really badly placed words or cringeworthy phrases. Oh and you KNOW the sex is bad when you can eat lasagna while getting DP.

Matched to the Pack follows Jade, who’s matched with a wealthy alpha from an exclusive dating service. The story has a unique premise, and the chemistry between Jade and Caleb, the alpha, builds nicely. The slow-burn romance offers some delightful moments, though the character development feels a bit shallow. Fans of reverse harem stories looking for something more lighthearted and spicy will enjoy this.

Omega Jade (h) works as a nurse but fed up with her workplace decides to quit her job and start her own event planning business, without a lot of business planning. Her mother convinces her to attend the Omega Ball, yet again, in hopes of finding an alpha pack, and while there she makes a connection with alpha Bruce (H) and obtains a business card from Alpha Caleb (H). Her business plan quickly falls through and she contacts Caleb about his services to find alpha packs for unmated omegas. Alphas Bruce, Nick (H), and Dravin (H) are all of a mind to make her their pack wife, but Caleb resist dues to the traumatic events surrounding their previous pack wife’s death. Things heat up fast, like within moments of meeting – having her strip and making comments about her body – and later the same night with hot/cold Caleb bathing her and shaving her pubic area, even though she’s not comfortable. The sex interludes continue through the story with the alphas all coercing her into doing things that she really doesn’t seem to want but rather they use her omega nature against her to get her do what they want – lots of CNC. I didn’t really like any of the alphas in the story, as their sexual treatment of Jade just felt kind of icky. Do not get me started on the Argon thing – this just felt like an out of left field way of creating a dangerous situation for the alphas to rescue Jade. I have the other books in the series, as well as many other Omegaverse stories, and this one just didn’t sit well with me.

I have mixed feelings about this book. I wanted to like it but the pack leader Caleb was so creepy and controlling at the beginning so I couldn't see him being sweet or desirable. I would have liked the book much better if he wasn't there and the oldest alpha was the pack leader.

Said by Caleb.
“Come out, little omega,” said Caleb. “We want to see your shaved pussy. If it’s hairy again, I’ll take care of it for you tonight.”

The story is short and doesn't go in depth for anything, it's a smut book and sadly nothing more, I can imagine that we could have seen the FL do amazing things and really grown in this book but, nope....
Can't recommend this book despite how well it has been spoken of at tiktok.

I kept seeing snippets of this on tiktok and it was framed as a pretty decent book…..this was reminiscent of the worst wattpad stories you’ve ever read. Like you finish the book because it’s astounding how bad it is.

Worse than dystopian

There are the usual tropes in this dystopian depiction of an Omegaverse. Omegas are treated poorly and enviously by betas, and have their freedoms severely curtailed. They have heats, create nests, and are more vulnerable than the rest of the population. Where it goes off the rails is that there is no corresponding bonding or protective traits for Alphas.

Alphas treat omegas as interchangeable. Omegas have no consent or autonomy, and if they do not acquire a pack quickly enough, they are auctioned off. Alphas have no natural protective instincts, or enforced bonding traits. So your pack can cheat on you, or individual members can leave a pack with no repercussions for the other Alphas. It is common for an Alpha to toy with Omegas, and heat can be induced by doing so. Saying no is ignored, while Alphas lack of control is blamed on the Omega. When watching the main character sleep the pack lead is aroused and decides to leave instead of raping her, because her physical presence is so enticing. This is not depicted as being his fault or even bad.

The pack in question exemplifies the norm of this society. The make it clear they want “an Omega” not anyone in particular, even after meeting and having sex with the female main character. They do not bother making any part of their matchmaking business appealing to Omegas, or advertise to Omegas, because they are interchangeable property. One character uses the fact they have the FMC under their employ to push and acquire sex. It is only at the 54% mark where a superficial personal question is asked of the main female lead. This event is not repeated. All comments are about her physical appearance or ability to be impregnated. The pack previously had a wife (again no bonding traits) but she was pretty immediately murdered. There is no indication they even bother pursuing her murderer, and the lead Alpha is only vaguely unhappy that he didn’t protect her, with the whiff of guilt that he abandoned her to have a Alphas night out when she was upset, scared and distressed. One alpha is angered by the FMC not wanting to be homeless, and no thought is given to providing her an allowance or transportation so she can be independent enough to consent to anything.

Omegas are expected to go to school, get a job, and pay bills but also not be independent or speak their thoughts or opinions. They also must be obedient virgins that hide any Omegas traits that they possess.

ONLY Omegas are treated this way. When it was thought the female main character was a beta, the pack lead took time to speak and get to know her, and get consent before sex.

I hate everyone in the book except the female main character; she is a pathetic docile character crippled by her own biological urges and incapable of anything but obedience. She can only be pitied. Her wants and needs are entirely molded to others desires and expectations. The most the pack lead is willing to do to support his mother is bring her food once, while dismissing her fears and beliefs, and noting he doesn’t want her to die from mental illness. Nothing more is done. A demon behaves in exactly the same manner as any other Alpha, like trash, with no supernatural powers or skills but with a bonus affinity for murder. No one bats an eye about him murdering omegas.

There is nothing redeeming here, and I would advise the author to purchase a dictionary and thesaurus.

This is stupendously bad. After seeing so many negative reviews I had to read it myself, hoping it was going to be a so bad its good scenario, but no. Its just awful.

Jade is 28, an omega living independently, she's trained as a nurse but wants to set up her own business so quits her job, with no savings, new job or indeed any plan B. She is getting pressured by her omega mum to meet a pack and goes to the omega ball, where she meets Bruce ( lol), a wealthy silver fox, who runs a dating agency called Enchanted Nests.

He tells her they can match her up with a pack and gives her his card. When, through desperation and stupidity she goesbfor a meeting she meets his other pack members, Nick,Darian and creepy Caleb. Who proceeds to get her to strip down to her undies so they can measure her, and then comment on her childbearing hips.

They say they have a pack lined up for her, she drives home, her car breaks down in a torrential storm, creepy Caleb rescues her, offers to take her back to their mansion. Where he gets the others to run her a bath then bizarrely offers to bathe her, this is the point any sane woman would tell him to fuck off.

But not our Jade, even though she's uncomfortable with it and then he proceeds to comment on her hirsute private parts and shaves her, which is just so icky. Why he does this is not explained, she isnt their omega, she is lined up for another pack. Its a horribly uncomfortable scenario.

And the inevitable sex scenes are so bad, they sound more like a human anatomy lesson than making whoopee, words like " anus" are not sensual. Creepy Caleb explains he wants an omega he can carry around, feed, bathe etc. Sounds like he wants a pet or a child, not an adult partner.

Still its not just confined to this book because that infantilising of omegas seems sadly common. I've read a lot of omegaverse books and I dont know if its meant to be erotic or nurturing, but personally I find it weird AF that male Alphas want a child substitute for a mate.

And Jade, a supposedly independent, self reliant omega, loses what few brain cells she once posessed, along with free will, autonomy and self respect, and just let the Alphas do what they liked. This was a DNF for me. It was so cringey, none of the characters were interesting or sympathetic. Creepy Caleb needs therapy, badly and the others were not much better.

In summary, if you like stilted writing, a stupid, spineless FMC, MMC's who dont respect the word " no", awkward, but anatomically correct sex scenes then congratulations, this book ticks all the boxes.

This is actually the first Layla Sparks book I've been ever read... and it was a struggle for me.

This book gave me whiplash to be honest. Especially in the second half. I saw this book on tiktok, and the plot always sounded like something i would love. But I was absolutely disappointed with it from the start. In fact it was hard to finish and needed constant breaks in between. (I have a thing where i can't leave a book unless I've finished it.)

When I started reading it I just found myself confused. The writing is just... I don't want to be rude but it feels like I am reading at like a middle school level if that makes sense? The writing does not flow well, there are conversations that seem to end out of nowhere leaving me questioning what just happened.

The MMCs were straight up disregarding her consent from the get-go. I wouldn't even call it dubious consent or CNC, it was straight up non-consent y'all. I have previously read omegaverse books and consider myself a master in them, but this book was a whole different level. I felt like there was no love, attraction, communication, nothing. At most it seemed like lust on their part but the FMC seemed like she was only attracted to them because of her designation. I didn't even think she had met one of her alpha's when she met Bruce because of how unattracted she was to him. It just seemed like a minor liking max.

There was also confusing and seemingly random conflict. A demon seemed to appear out of thin air, same with the sexual assault.

I was determined to see it through. I had another of her book on my TBR but its getting kicked out, no looking back.

I tried I really tried

If you look at my profile you know I don’t usually give bad reviews or comments. I just drop the book. But this was just making me uncomfortable within the first 3 chapters. So much of the beginning and the pack’s interactions with her were terrible uncomfortable. They forced her to change her body after she repeatedly said no. Forced her to strip!! In front of men she had never meet because it is “normal” and then proceeded to make comments on her body completely unprompted and unprofessional. The entire 17 chapters I somehow got through I just felt so disgusted that at her being put in this position. Like all her “nos” and “stops” were ignored and the continually used her omega nature to get her to comply even though she didn’t want to. The commanded her to do things she obviously wasn’t comfortable doing and honestly I can’t. (I’m sorry this is more of a rant then a review but I personally warn people away from this book if you want strong consent because this book as almost if not none verbal consent from her and I’m not sure if that’s just authors choice but it made me very uncomfortable and I had to force myself to keep reading)

This is the the fifth book in the Howl’s Edge Island: Omega for the Pack series. Tropes include omegaverse, why choose, knotting, praise and pregnancy. Please see content warnings for adult content, in particular, frequent spicy scenes.

Rating: 3.5/5 Stars 4/5 spicy flames

The Lovely: I loved the characters, especially the FMC and the pack. There’s a lot of push and pull between the characters and I appreciated that the pack wasn’t necessarily a happy, cohesive group. The FMC is tenacious and isn’t content to be some homemaker Omega - something I found refreshing.

The Mundane: While I liked this was short (under 200 pages) and that’s a big reason why I read it, I did feel like the writing style was too simplistic. The characters were well-written but past that I felt like the sentences were short, descriptions were minimal and dialogue was choppy.

I personally would give this book a 3.5⭐️ if I could. Which is not something I normally do. While I liked the plot of the book, it felt very unfinished to me. The book, I believe is only 190 pages and you can feel that. This story could have been even better if maybe more time was put into adding more detail. The ending of the story with the Mother could have definitely had more significance in the storyline since it became a huge part of the book towards the end. I just feel like we were thrown into storylines and then the book was over.

Definitely worth a read if you enjoy a pregnancy/breeding kink genre! The spicy scenes were good, I would probably rate them a 🌶️🌶️🌶️/5

And I’ll definitely still check out the other books in the series!

This is about Jade, an Omega in need of a pack. She is introduced to a pack matching agency to arrange a marriage. She is really attracted to the alphas that run the agency. Their lead Alpha is very reluctant to mate Jade because of his past trauma.
This book is all over the place. Halfway through the book it turns into a paranormal story with a too-quick resolution. It feels a little out of nowhere without enough setup. The resolution between the main characters also seems to have a too-quick resolution. It def needs more editing as there are grammatical errors and repetitive scenes and an epilogue that makes no sense.

DNF -- Not for Me

Unfortunately, when I chose to read and review this book since I usually enjoy the omegaverse stories, all the kink and nasties were not mentioned. I would never have knowingly accepted a book like this one. I was very uncomfortable reading this and did not appreciate the ignorant way the males treated the female with no concerns about humiliating her, degrading her, and ignoring her when she objected to being forced into something she didn’t want. I despise bullies, and that’s what the males in this book were. They forced her to do things whether she agreed or not. I finally had to give up and walk away from this one.
