I read this book about 12 years ago. I reread it this week.

Pilar has met her childhood friend after many years. He is now a religious leader. He does, however, profess his love for her. (as she does for him) Through the years she has buried her feeling for him
and he has conflicts whether to become a monk or be with her. They set out on a short journey to discover their new selves.

Beautifully written as are his books underlining many quotes. Read it in a few days and sessions.Savor it.
