The rich tradition of the San Francisco Giants has provided indelible memories for their fans ever since they moved from New York’s Polo Grounds to Seals Stadium in 1958. Tales from the San Francisco Giants Dugout captures some of the humorous and poignant moments of the team’s years on the West Coast, from the intense rivalry with the Dodgers to their amazing victory in the 2010 World Series.
I love baseball and I love the San Francisco Giants. This book gives you the highs and lows of this great franchise from when they left New York to move out to San Francisco. The edition I read only went as far as the first Wold Series title in 2010.
2010 was a great season that will never be forgotten by the Giants fans. The edition I read only spent 7 pages covering this championship season. Also there were editing errors galore at the end of the book. Hopefully these were cleared up in the later version of this book.
There were great stories in the book, many of which I hadn't seen before. Especially the earlier years set out. With today's world of blogs and the internet available to rabid fans, nothing much is learned about the later years of the franchise.
Lots of memories are stirred by this book. Most of the memories were very pleasant. Some, however, were tough to read and remember again.
Great book for Giants fans to relive the history of the greatest baseball franchise of all time.
This is loaded with great anecdotes from the team's history since moving west, but also with errors (spelling, grammar, and wrong player names). Perhaps the most glaring omission in this updated edition is going directly from the 2014 NLDS vs. Washington to the World Series vs. KC, completely skipping the NLCS and one of the franchise's greatest playoff moments (Ishikawa walkoff); Cain's perfecto in 2012 receives the same treatment. Thats what happens when you dedicate only a single chapter to the 2011-2015 seasons. So while there is a lot to enjoy, there is a lot left to be desired.
i think this book is really good because it talks about the giants from new york and giants from here san francisco, california and the struggles the teams faced coming here to the bay people like Willie Mays and Willie McCovey and Orlando Cepeda . Faced struggles because neither of them wanted to move and the team from polo grounds in new york.
Overall, I really did think it was a great book because if my relation to baseball and me knowing lots about the game and the giants. But it didnt really have like a climax or that sort of thing, Just mostly the events that transpired in the past decades with the giants. Otherwise this boom was really good.
