This early reader book has good illustrations and information about the interactions between a mother and baby otter, as he is learning to swim, waits for his mother to find her food, gets groomed, takes a nap, and hides from predators. I wish there had been some reading comprehension questions at the end of the book.

The feel of all of these Leap Frog nature books is something that is very comfortable to me, and they all make for good reads that are quite informative, as well. "Baby Otter" is no exception to the good material that I have found in all of these books, and Jennifer Boudart's writing skills are at the same solid level as are those of the other writers in the series.
