Love, love, love romance, the paranormal, hunky Highlanders with their delicious brogue and hot kilts, so Terry Spear writes about those hunky Highlanders both in medieval times and as wolves in contemporary times. Jaguar shifters too! And young adult urban fantasy. And romantic suspense.
She grew up reading mystery, adventure, mythologies from around the world, ghost stories, the paranormal, fell in love with Dracula and Wolfman, and felt they needed loving too. Everyone should have someone to love. Which means her stories always have a HEA.
USA Today Bestseller residing in Central Texas from Sacramento, California who creates award-winning teddy bears too!
I'll be honest, I don't remember this one in detail, it didn't leave such a mark. I went a bit crazy with freebies during the holidays. It is a werewolf book, do I really need to say more?
Despite being crazy about shifters and wolves, this didn't really work for me. I understand I read a random book in the serie so I was missing a lot of background, but the werewolves being a special ops seal team here made it notably worse.
I liked the main couple, Finn and Meara, well enough but I didn't find their chemistry too convincing nor really hot. Also apart, they were not well formed nor compelling characters. The purple prose almost killed the smut. Wolf-sized? I guess the author meant he was well-hung? Mah. At least the alphas here were not assholes and Finn has no problems apologising. I didn't particlarly feel any of the characters, but I'd gladly read more of Anna and Rourke.
This was supposed to be a thriller but the mystery was the weakest part, it just dragged on, most of the discoveries were made by phone, these supposed military experts kept failing left and right, the inside accomplice was pretty evident to me. There even is the dreaded scene where the evil mastermind behind all of the drama actually spills all his beans to Meara, who keeps making him talk. I facepalmed myself, hard.
I will try more from this author anyway, because werewolves.
May I direct you to the lovely cover for this book? Mmm…nice abs, right? A little distracting… A SEAL in Wolf’s Clothing is a nice little diversion. There’s plenty of action, hot Navy SEAL werewolves, and a plot to kill said Navy SEAL werewolves… The dialogue was a little hokey at times, but it was still a fun book to read.
Finn is sent to protect Meara, the alpha wolf’s sister. An assassin has been targeting the Navy SEALS and Meara is in danger as well. Meara has some plans of her own. While her brother is off on his honeymoon in Hawaii, she is on a mission to find an alpha wolf mate. I had to laugh at Meara’s tenacity. She treated her hunt for a mate as a project and was pretty well organized. Of course, when Finn enters the picture, Meara’s plans get foiled. Finn and Meara were wonderful together. They were so perfectly suited to one another and had some great chemistry. It was fun to watch them realize their attraction, even though Finn was not supposed to be Meara’s type.
The supporting cast of characters was interesting. I loved Rourke, the newly turned werewolf and investigative reporter. His nose for news and investigative abilities made him a great resource for the pack. Bjornolf was intriguing, an enigma, and a mysterious lone wolf working to help the SEALs. And kudos for including a female operative. I loved Anna – she was beautiful and lethal. I’m glad that I got a chance to read this book. I now have a new author to follow and catch up on other books in this series.
Note – This book is part of the Heart of the Wolf series. It can be read as a standalone book.
I have a confession to make. This is the first book I read in this series, or by this author actually. I don't like to read out of order but, well, I did.
I really can't resist a sexy shifter, and if that sexy shifter just happens to be a SEAL as well (and I mean that in the military sense, not that he likes to go swimming).
I wasn't completely lost since the author does a good job of explaining just enough of the background so that you can follow along with what's going on. Obviously there was an operation gone wrong, and now a threat hangs over Meara's head. She's got plans to find herself a mate. With her brother gone in his honeymoon she has the run of their resort to rent out only to available and eligible shifters. She's gone through the paces and has them all lined up.
But then Finn gets in the way. He's part of her brothers' team and he's there to protect her when her life could be in danger. From the first time he came on the pages dripping wet from a shower and making mine and Meara's heart aflutter.
This book had some intrigue, some humor and plenty of sexual chemistry. A strong but not stupid heroine and sexy and very capable hero. The supporting cast was also interesting and I really want to read back to see how Rourke got changed and then what will happen to him in the future.
I thought it was also really cute that the heroine reads paranormal romance novels and she fell asleep once while reading a previous book in this series. HA! Cute!
I'm glad I picked this up and I will go back and read the rest of the series for sure!
4.75stars really Back in Oregon visiting Hunter's pack, except Hunter & Tessa Greymere are away on their honeymoon. Someone has targeted Hunter's SEAL team for termination putting him and his family in danger. Meanwhile Hunter's sister Meara has decided to use his time to shop for a mate. Just as Meara's candidates begin to arrive, so does SEAL support in the form of Finn Emerson and Finn has no intention of allowing Meara to select a mate other than him no matter how Hunter may feel about it their mating and it is inconsequential that Finn is not in the market for a mate. Another unexpected and well done story for the series. Meara was an extremely strong, funny, sexy, independent female alpha that needed a specific type of alpha male, luckily she found him in the extremely strong, funny, sexy, independent Finn Emerson. Finn was so secure in his self image that he was not intimated by Meara's personality and strengths. Their chemistry sparked and smoldered throughout the read. Since neither had looked at the other as a potential mate it was easy to relate to the emotions and traits while the truth dawned on them. Finn's realization that he could get farther with his tasks by treating Meara as a partner instead of a submissive mate worked quite well. The tension of trying to discover who the assassin was and protecting each other from getting hurt gave each of the leads a time to shine. I also enjoyed the unmasking of the villain while some of the previously introduced characters got a chance to shine.
This is the 1st that I've read so far of the books by Spears. The story moves along well, has a decent plot with well defined characters. I'll read more!
This paranormal romance had a fun beginning and exciting ending but the romance in the middle was full of ruminating about why they wouldn't suit each other. The hero behaved badly in a trust issue and heroine was appeased with sex; that's just wrong. I didn't feel the love. SEAL wolf Finn goes to protect his teammates sister Meara when he learns an assassin out to kill them.
Meara Greymore's twin brother and pack alpha is going to Hawaii on his honeymoon and while the alpha’s away the little she wolf will play. Meara has big plans to find a mate by renting the cabins out at their family resort to some very eligible werewolves. But when ex-Navy SEAL and alpha wolf Finn Emerson shows up, naked and dripping wet no less, Meara’s plans hit a detour and if Finn has anything to say about it, it will be of the permanent kind. Someone is out to get Finn’s entire ex-SEAL team and Finn has no doubt that the culprit won’t have any qualms about using his friend Hunter’s sister to get to him. So when Finn finds out that Hunter is leaving the country and one of their teammates has already been attacked, Finn rushes to the twin’s new pack home to protect the feisty Meara at all costs. Meara has a standing rule about dating her brother’s friends or SEALS period and Hunter has made it plenty clear to every wolf on their team that his sister is off limits, but when an assassin draws near more than just danger sparks between the two. Can Finn and Meara find a middle ground to build off of or are they just caught in the heat of the moment? With the enemy drawing closer distractions can be deadly.
This is the second novel I have read from author Terry Spear, the first one being Dreaming of the Wolf (#8). A SEAL in Wolf’s Clothing didn’t have any connection to the previous novel that I could see and though you could tell that there were several back stories with Meara’s brother’s marriage and Finn’s team the author provides just enough detail to keep you from feeling lost.
The story built upon itself nicely with romance, suspense, mystery and action. The relationship between Finn and Meara developed at a natural pace with both characters overcoming conflict and finding a common ground. Finn starts right off the bat emitting some uber sexiness and that continues throughout the entire novel, I really loved him. He shows Meara that sometimes what you’re looking for is directly in front of you, you just have to see it. Meara was a strong heroine who knows her limits and capabilities, someone I could easily root for. The chemistry between Finn and Meara started out as a slow smoke but eventual built to a roaring fire. Finn was attracted to Meara from the get-go but Meara had her doubts, I liked how they found a kind of friendship and respect first before getting down and dirty, though that part wasn’t too shabby either. A lot of sexual tension though until they reached that point along with some major teasing. Their biggest obstacle however is a future and whether either of them can compromise in their vision of it. But there was no doubt that this couple would get their HEA on the end.
The plot of A SEAL in Wolf’s Clothing mainly focused on the romance but the mystery of the assassin and action of assassin attempts added some nice suspense that kept me turning the pages. All in all, a good entertaining read for paranormal romance fans who like their main characters on the furry side. J I’ll be reading more from this author and hope to get to the whole Heart of the Wolf series one day. And isn't this cover just scrumptious? Yum
Combining suspense, alpha males, romance and werewolves, Terry Spear continues to enthrall readers with another paranormal romance winner. In A SEAL in Wolf's Clothing, Meara is in danger from an unknown source when an enemy of her brother's (Hunter, the werewolf pack alpha and Navy SEAL) begins killing members of the SEAL team and sets his sights on Meara. With Hunter being gone on his honeymoon, fellow SEAL and friend, Finn steps in to protect Meara, whether she wants protection or not. Because of the unexpected turn of events, Meara's mate-hunt is put on hold, or so she thinks.
I really enjoyed this installment in Terry Spear's The Heart of the Wolf series. Meara is my kind of heroine. She is not necessarily the kick-butt heroine you might expect, but she has an alpha female heart and she often acts without thinking matters through. She is determined to be true to her alpha nature, and to find an alpha male to be her mate. From the minute Finn steps into the picture and changes her plans, Meara feels the attraction to him, but she can't imagine a future with Finn. Finn is a SEAL and constantly leaving on dangerous missions. He does not seem the type to settle down with a mate. Nevertheless, the chemistry between Finn and Meara sizzles and they both have to re-evaluate their future plans.
The pacing in A SEAL in Wolf's Clothing is excellent, the story flows very nicely, there is action and humor to offset more serious moments. I also like how Terry Spear showcases other viewpoints, another pack member's point of view, another SEAL member's point of view, etc. The story is well-balanced and very well written. Throughout the story, I was trying to unravel who was behind the violence and why. I was surprised and pleased by the turn of events in the end and how the story came to a close.
A SEAL in Wolf's Clothing is book 9 in the series, but it can be read as a stand alone. I have only read a few of the other installments in the series, and I was not lost in the storyline. Readers, if you are not familiar with this author or series, you can pick this book up and enjoy the story. In fact, you will probably want to read more books from this series after you read this book. The one puzzle in my mind in regards to this book was trying to picture werewolves in water (you know, as Navy SEAL's), it's an interesting visual. This issue in no way takes away from the book, it's my overactive imagination at work.
With charismatic characters, suspenseful plot lines, and alluring romance A Seal in Wolf's Clothing is an excellent paranormal romance read. Paranormal readers, fans of werewolf books, romance readers, or those of you who like romantic suspense, I highly recommend reading A SEAL in Wolf's Clothing. Terry Spear does a fantastic job of combining romantic suspense with the paranormal.
Our Review [by Michelle L. Olson – LITERAL ADDICTION’s Pack Alpha]: I’ve been following HEART OF THE WOLF since day one and have been hooked ever since. This book though, grabbed me immediately and I just couldn’t put it down. SEAL in wolf’s clothing revolves around Meara, a strong alpha in her own right, with an incredibly overprotective Navy SEAL older brother. Meara is looking for a mate, and takes the opportunity of her brother’s honeymoon and subsequent absence to try and lure in her prospective match. She gets a bit more than she bargained for though, when her life is suddenly over-run by mysterious males… Hunter’s friend and fellow SEAL, Finn, takes it upon himself to make sure that Meara is looked after in Hunter’s absence. He takes his job as a SEAL very seriously and knows that ever since their botched mission some time back, things just aren’t what they seem. However, while he wants it to only be a ‘job’ and tries to stay all business, he just can’t ignore the unshakeable attraction between he and Meara – despite how much they irritate each other at every turn. I adored the depth of character in this book. Meara’s a tough cookie but we get to explore her vulnerabilities. Finn is alpha male to the core and straight up military, but while he denies it with every breath, he’s also an incredible romantic. Hunter is the usual overprotective older brother who believes that nobody is good enough for his sister, but we get to see how much he really trusts and relies on his friends not only to watch his back, but to care for those he loves as well. And then there are the allies and villains of the story… SO many surprises and nothing I can reveal without spoilers! :) The chemistry between all of the characters in this installment was beyond thrilling, especially with the explosive romance brewing between Finn & Meara throughout the book. SEAL in Wolf’s Clothing was hands down a sexy, action-packed thrill ride of epic proportions and utterly satisfying. I would recommend it to all Paranormal Romance and shifter fans and would even suggest that those who like Romantic Suspense with military undertones pick up these books. They’re fantastic! LITERAL ADDICTION gives SEAL in Wolf’s Clothing 5 Skulls.
*NO Spoilers. Terry Spear delivers another amazing installment in her Wolf series, Heart of the Wolf. I so love this series. The smex is always hot, but there is also an interesting plot to keep you entertained and glued to the book.
I love how her characters from different books end up being interconnected in some way, even if they never meet. not to say that you should not read A SEAL in Wolf’s Clothing without having read the previous books, but I honestly think you’ll enjoy it more if you do. I feel only a couple of books in the series are really completely disconnected, the rest the threads of family or pack can be found between books, easily.
Now back to A SEAL in Wolf’s Clothing, we met Meara in the third book in the series, To Tempt The Wolf. She is the sister of that book’s hero and was fascinating even then. I remember being intrigued by her spunk and sauciness and was looking forward to reading her story. We finally get it in A SEAL in Wolf’s Clothing.
I bet it was so hard for Terry to create a character up to Meara’s standard, but Finn definitely fits the bill, ten fold if I may so. He is hot, smart, strong, determined and understanding. Despite being an ALPHA male he does know how to respect Meara’s wishes and tends to steamroll them in much lesser degree than most ALPHA males would.
I loved this couple and how much they fit each other, even though it took them long enough to figure that out. The intrigue surrounding them made for a very compelling plot as well and kept me on the edge of my seat throughout.
A SEAL in Wolf’s Clothing is a great addition to such an awesome series not to mention that it introduces more characters that I hope Terry Spear will not leave behind LOL.
If you are as much as a Paranormal Romance lover as I am and just can’t help loving wolves, this is definitely a series you should check out. if you are a fan, A SEAL in Wolf’s Clothing should NOT be missed!
This story has both adventure and suspense, and romance to boot! I loved the story of Meara being on a hunt for a mate and Finn's escalating jealous streak about it while the poor alpha tries his best to protect her. If you haven't read the series before ( like I hadn't ) here are some unique things you need to know about Spear's werewolves: First they are either man or wolf, no middle stage. Two, if sex gets to actual penetration you're mated, no buts about it. Which caused so much delicious teasing and heavy petting that you almost got sexually frustrated for the couple!
I hadn't read any Terry Spear books previously, but I will from now on, she's got excellent writing skills for paranormal romance, the characters are believable but animalistic at times, dialogue flows nicely and plot doesn't halt but keep moving and is exciting to read. Plus all the passion and desire make for scrumptious reading!
Loved Finn being a big bad Navy SEAL wolf, it was a compo of power, cunning and raw sexuality in an alpha package. Of course good part of the book he wants to slake his lust for Meara believing he's the last possible option for a mate, but all that jealousy and possessiveness sure seems to point otherwise. I do love SEALs but I also love hot werewolf alphas so I was so very satisfied with Finn, and his contradicting desires.
Meara was an alpha female, outspoken, caring, strong and all those in great ways. She wasn't ultra bossy, daring or stupid enough to get into trouble - and boy do I love a smart heroine! Not so much a damsel in distress, so it's safe to say I loved Meara and her alpha tendencies, which also meant she and Finn got Chemistry! Oh boy! It was urgent and blazing wicked hot, with that little bit of tease as they couldn't go all the way.
The romance between Meara and Finn started out tempting, then scorched with a kiss, and burned as lust between them, and the danger helped feed the flame. I loved the we know we wouldn't be good together, we are worlds apart but still not being able to keep paws off - it was sweet, passionate and everything one wants in a shifter romance!
Meara Greymere is determined to find herself a mate now that her brother is going to be away. Now that Meara doesn’t have to deal with an overprotective brother she figures it shouldn’t be too hard for her to find a mate. What she doesn’t count on is one of her brothers SEAL buddies showing up and ruining her fun. He may be hot but she knows he isn’t mate material. Now she is going to have to find a way around him.
Finn Emerson is a Navy SEAL that has been hardened by battle and he is also an alpha wolf so even though he is over qualified to be a baby-sitter he is determined to keep Meara safe from the trouble she attracts like a magnet. Finn knows he has to Meara safe from the men that are around since he is the only alpha around right now. What he doesn’t count on is his own attraction to Meara. He knows that he isn’t what she needs but that doesn’t make fighting his attraction any easier.
Finn knows trouble is headed Meara’s way and he has to figure out just what is going on before it catches up to her. His job is made more difficult when Meara is convinced she isn’t in any trouble and if she is as soon as Finn is gone she will be fine. But someone is after them both and if they don’t find out whom and why they just might not make it out alive.
This is a wonderful fast paced story that will keep the reader on the edge of their seat. This one has plenty of hunky SEALs that will have the reader reaching for an ice cold glass of water to cool them off. This is another great book in the world of the lupus garous (werewolves) world. While a couple from an earlier make a cameo in this one it isn’t necessary to read the books in order though it does make the series much more enjoyable. For those that love hot SEALs this is one not to miss. This one definitely lives up to its title.
This book had me laughing, Meara is very strong headed and Finn ended up being bowled over by her fighting things between them all the way, and that is to say nothing of the team that was working with them.
It seems like subconsciously both Meara and Finn realized they were mates, but couldn't admit it to themselves. Meara never talked with Hunter's other teammates, but with Finn she had always given him hell for dragging Hunter away and Finn took it. The contentious relationship they had stayed the same for the first part of the book. Meara didn't want Finn around and didn't need him to take care of her, she had enough of that with her brother. But Finn slowly breaks through Meara's hard shell, loosing his heart along the way. It was fun to watch him fight his feelings along the way.
When we finally discover who is behind things I was surprised by how deep the betrayal went. I did love how things were discovered and the action he took at the end. I have a feeling it will go a long way to make him feel more secure in the pack and his new life.
Bjornolf is one of my favorite new characters. I felt like we were told just enough to be intrigued by him. I loved how he yanked Finn's chain and interacted with Meara, throwing her off.
The rest of the team were just as fun. It seemed like everyone of them saw the realness of the attraction between Finn and Meara and kept giving Finn a hard time. Which he deserved. Even Hunter when he arrived started in on things. I loved how he expected them to mate, that somehow Finn had sullied Meara's reputation like some woman from the 1800's.
I hope that we get to see more of these new characters in future books!
Meara can't wait to sink her teeth into the right alpha male she has renting one of her cabins for the week. She is determined to find her mate in this group of carefully selected males. But when her brother's SEAL teammate, Finn, shows up unexpectedly, she is beyond annoyed with his games. Why he feels the need to pretend to be her lover is beyond her but she knows she has to watch her step or he will go running to her brother who will put her search to an end immediately. If only that was the least of her worries...
Finn, a Navy SEAL, is used to living in dangerous situations but when someone is set out to start offing his team members, he is determined to stop the wolf in his tracks. After one of his team members has already been attacked, Finn just knows Hunter will be the next target. When Finn finally tracks him down, he quickly discovers from Meara that Hunter is on a very human honeymoon with his new mate. Well crap. Finn also discovers that Meara has set up a week of hosting alpha males at the cabins in hopes of finding her new mate but he knows that someone could target Meara to get to Hunter. Double Crap. Of course he keeps telling himself that the feeling he is feeling towards Meara is just his instinct to protect what is Hunters's and not the urge to wrap her in his arms and never let go until he knows she is safe, or so she doesn't find her mate. Whichever.
I have only read one previous book by Ms. Spear but I will definitely say if I had the money, I would go back and read ALL of her books. She definitely knows how to write a book! Full of sexual energy and thrilling twists and turns that will leave you wanting more and more. All I can say is the next in the series can't come out fast enough for me! :)
What's not to love about a story with a werewolf SEAL?
In this installment, we see To Tempt the Wolf Hunter's SEAL team coming together to save his sister Meara from being assassinated. Finn has no thoughts of settling down but with Hunter away on his honeymoon, he's sworn to protect Meara from her impulsive actions to find herself a mate and maybe getting herself killed.
I'm glad the author spent more time on explaining the reasons for the assassination plot this time around. I'm sure we'll be seeing stories on the other SEAL members soon. Bjornolf the deep undercover operative is particularly interesting...
Meara is looking for the perfect mate while her brother is away. Finn, her brother's best friend shows up to protect her from a mysterious killer that may target her to get to her brother.
This was an easy, entertaining read, but to be honest, I can't say that I loved it. Nor will I reread it or run out to read more in this series. The characters had some really interesting moments but overall I couldn't get past what I call 'benevolent misogyny'.
Now, I totally admit that it's probably just me but throughout this book, I really felt that every male character was patting the females on the head in condescension. This really colored the book for me in an unfavorable way that I couldn't let go.
Meara had moments of total coolness, then she do something ridiculous and the men would just sorta chalk it up to her being 'female'. GRRRRR! Finn had moments of total coolness, then he'd do that 'I'm a man, I know better, little lady'. GRRRRRRR!
I guess for me its mostly the tone and how I read it. This story is entertaining, but nothing to write home about. Good beach read.
I thoroughly enjoy the covers & the repeat use of the same hot guy! He's too good looking to only use once!
Meara is runing a campgrouns/cabins while her brother is away on his honeymoon. Her brother Hunter is an ex Navy SEAL & has a special team of former SEALs that do private black ops jobs.
After one of the SEAL's team members is shot, Finn comes to protect Meara, knowing the assassin is after her too. She is an alpha female looking for a mate & both of them are supposed to be off limits to each other.
It was a great story, BUT... Terry Spear used to be my favorite shifter author, but she went into military black ops romantic suspense with the last 2 books. I actually love bth genres, but these books have lost the shifter quality & if you take out the shifter part of the story you still have the RS & a complete story as well. Almost as if the shifter is now secondary. Oh well!
Meara Greymere wants to find a mate without her overprotective brother interfering. There is no better time than when her brother and his wife are on their honeymoon. She didn’t plan on being hunted by an assassin or have Finn Emerson, one of her brother’s SEAL buddies show up to spoil her fun, too. Her attraction to Finn irks her, but his power of persuasion proves difficult to resist.
Finn vows to keep Meara safe from the assassin and the questionable men who are vying for her hand, but he finds that his own attraction to her could be the biggest threat. Wolves mate for life. He isn’t husband materiel and Meara’s brother would have his head if he mated her without his permission.
Ms. Spear’s wolves are difficult to resist and this action-packed tale of danger and romance will keep you spellbound from the very first page.
Her instincts tell her he's dangerous... While her overprotective brother's away, Meara Greymere's planning to play—and it wouldn't hurt to find herself a mate in the process. The last thing she needs is one of his SEAL buddies spoiling her fun, even if the guy is the hottest one she's ever seen... His powers of persuasion are impossible to resist... Finn Emerson is a battle-hardened Navy SEAL and alpha wolf. He's a little overqualified for baby-sitting, but feisty Meara is attracting trouble like a magnet... As the only responsible alpha male in the vicinity, Finn is going to have to protect this intriguing woman from a horde of questionable men, and definitely from himself... What a wonderful book. I truly enjoyed this one. Hated to see it end. Finn and Meara 'sparked' from the beginning. So many misconceptions. Showed me that looks can be very deceiving. 5 stars
I've never read a Terry Spear book before; A SEAL in Wolf's Clothing is number 9 (I think ) in a series, but the book was a good stand-alone, filling me in on backstory without being irritating or boring.
I really enjoyed this book - I flew through it in one day while convalescing - and will definitely put Spear down in my To-Read Authors list. The cast of characters is deep enough to promise more excellent books, and the Shifter part of the story wasn't SO overloaded with pack politics, which helped make it enjoyable. The chemistry between Meara and Finn was pitch perfect, and the way it all resolved made complete sense - especially with Hunter, the Alpha of the pack and Meara's brother, off on his honeymoon.
If you're into Shifters and SEALs, with a smoking hot romance, go ahead and pick up (dare I say) ANY of Terry's books in the series. You won't be disappointed!
This was my favorite of the series so far. I loved Finn and Meara together. I really liked how Meara decide to find herself a mate by using the family's cabins but gets more then she bargained for with her little scheme. Add in hunky SEAL Finn and you just knew sparks were gonna fly. All the secondary characters were just as interesting as the two MCs. Ms. Spear really knows how to write a fantastic shifter book with sexy heroes/heroines with lots of chemistry. I can't wait to read more in this series.
I'm not rating this one because it was a DNF at 40% for me. Maybe I'll try to finish it later, but it was just way too slow. The storyline didn't really progress so that made it difficult to connect to the characters.
Trigger Warnings: wolf fights (not graphic), human fights (not graphic), murder (not graphic), stalking, attempted kidnapping, attempted murder, mention of arson (backstory), mention of hostages/terrorism (backstory), not much really, it was a pretty safe read
As far as romances go, especially paranormal ones, this was a very gentle read. It felt like a contemporary romance that happened to have people who could change into wolves. The fights weren't graphic, the language wasn't graphic, the sex wasn't graphic, it was a very tame book.
I haven't read any of the other books in this series, so to me the romance was inta-love. But it did say that they had known each other for many years before this. Not sure how many since it just kept saying the werewolves "lived a long time." It was a believable romance in that two hot young people in danger and closed quarters would probably end up bumping uglies anyway. The mating part sounded far fetched since the MMC, Finn, was a hardcore SEAL who loves adventure. But, whatever.
The plot, someone is targeting the team and Finn goes to keep an eye on his friend's sister, Meara, while he's out of town, was believable. What guy wouldn't look after his friend's hot sister? Getting to who the bad guy was and why took awhile but it was such a gentle read I easily finished it in a day so it wasn't a big deal. There were little pockets of comedy, little pockets of suspense, and lots of little lovey moments. It's a good read for someone not looking for an adrenaline rush.
I'm my reviews all I do is talk about the things that piss me off so if I ever look back I can remember why I hated them. Not throwing shade or anything at the author. Some books just don't work for me.
DNF 90% The writing was good and I would read another book by this author but I swear I want to strangle Meara. She's supposed to be this wild woman who doesn't take orders from anyone and is this head strong chick but from what I've seen she's whiny, idiotic and such a pushover. Finn tells her to do something she resists for 1/2 a second and then gives in. What?! I thought she didn't listen to anybody. It's the same thing with her brother. I swear if even a quarter of these things happened to me I would beat the shit out of someone. Preferably Finn because he's a controlling bastard. And this whole thing where these assholes aren't telling her the whole story is really fucking pissing me off. How the hell are the "protecting" her or some shit if she doesn't even know what's going on?! And she questions it but then immediately forgets about it because Finn flashes some muscles!!! I can't read this anymore. How the hell did this get more 2 stars.

Meara Greymere is the twin sister to the pack Alpha and is taking advantage of the fact that her brother has gone away on honeymoon. Now is her chance to meet as many Alpha wolves as possible while he is away and maybe find her mate. Unfortunately for her one of her brother's SEAL team buddies has decided she needs protection. Finn Emerson has finally got information on what went wrong on the last mission. Someone is trying to take out the team and those close to them. While the SEAL team leader and fellow wolf is away it's down to Finn to make sure everyone else is safe. There are a lot of complicated behind the scenes machinations going on. So many males vying for top spot. Who is the target of the assassins and who is behind it all???? A sexy werewolf romance with all the added danger of a SEAL romantic suspense. Great characters that I will definitely want to read more of. Exciting adventure.
Love, Danger, Alpha Male Wolves and A Smart Beautiful Alpha Female
Meara and Finn love story is so much fun to see develop. Meara has a twin brother who was a Seal and Finn was on his team. Finn has arrived to tell them that team members are being targets, but finds out that her brother and his new mate are on a honeymoon so he decides to stay around to be sure that Hunter's off limits sister (Meara) is safe. Of course the fact that Meara is out to find herself an alpha mate of her own (she is a alpha female) lends to a lot of fun too. Her plan only rent the cabins to single alpha males while her brother is gone. Finn has his hands full and the person harming the team is someone they know and they are near by, they never see this coming. A HEA ending for all concerned, except the bad ones.
