A STUDY OF MANY ‘MYSTERIES,’ INCLUDING THE CYDONIA ‘FACE ON MARS’
Author Herbie Brennan wrote in the first chapter of this 1988 book, “In June 1976, NASA space probe Viking I, went into orbit around the planet Mars… a second probe---Viking II---was put in place. These two craft undertook a massive photographic survey of the Martian surface… eighteen [pictures] were taken at … a region known as Cydonia Mensae. Five of the eighteen showed a curious rock formation that looked like a human face. The best of these photographs received widespread press coverage. The rock formation was dubbed the ‘Face on Mars.’ Three years after the pictures were returned, independent experts began seriously to analyze the NASA images of the Cydonia region…. In 1993, a group of highly respected academics from the United States and Sweden endorsed a report… on the Martian anomalies. The report presented evidence that the ‘Face’ was artificial.” (Pg. 1)
He continues, “Professor Frank Drake thinks the ‘Face on Mars’ is … ‘just an accident of topography and photography.’ NASA … dismissed the ‘Face’ as a trick of light and shade created by the way sunlight struck a natural rock formation. But Professor McDaniel isn’t so sure… He thinks it’s a face and he believes it may be artificial. There are other experts who agree with him.” (Pg. 2)
He goes on, “Perhaps the best known lecturer and writer on the Martian anomalies is Richard C. Hoagland… Hoagland made extensive measurements of ALL the curious structures in the Cydonia region and discovered evidence that much of the complex was laid out in accordance with the principles of sacred geometry. Sacred geometry is the name scholars use for a complex tradition of relationships influenced the temple architecture of Ancient Egypt and Ancient Greece... If these structures are artificial, they make the pyramids of Egypt look like Lego toys.” (Pg. 9)
Of fossil finds, he states, “Consensus-breaking finds continue to appear. A human skeleton has been found in Switzerland … its age estimated between 35 and 45 million years… France has yielded up eoliths, paleoliths, cut wood and even a chalk ball, the MINIMUM ages of which range from 45 to 50 million years. Clearly, the humans who left these various remains could not have evolved in Africa 100,000 years ago. But it requires a massive leap of faith to conclude they evolved on Mars.” (Pg. 31)
He asserts, “There is evidence of ancient microscopic life on Mars. There is evidence of intelligent engineering on Mars. The presence of a human face on Mars suggests Martians must have visited Earth… no Martian could have seen a human face before 100,000 years BPE, the date modern humanity is believed to have evolved in Africa. There is evidence of humans on our planet at a period long before it was remotely possible for mammalian life to have evolved here. This life CANNOT have evolved on Earth. It MUST have evolved elsewhere. Fossil evidence … suggests that life on Mars had an evolutionary head start… over life on Earth. This allows the postulate of a technically advanced civilization evolving on Mars millions of years ago. The postulate is suppo0rted by the structure of the Cydonia complex… Indications of ‘humanity’ on Earth at ludicrously early periods … may be explained by the theory of technically advanced humanoid aliens from neighboring Mars… It seems likely that as soon as was technically feasible, the Martians would have established a colony of observers on Earth.” (Pg. 40-41)
He admits, “so far, apart from a few questionable archaeological anomalies, there is no reason to suppose the peak of prehistoric civilization was anything as technically as advanced as our own. On the evidence to date, it appears to have reached approximately the level of the classical civilizations familiar to every student of history.” (Pg. 77-78)
He notes, “It is possible that the archaeology of historical Egypt might have unearthed further links to an ancient hi-tech civilization were it not for a development that mirrored, on a smaller scale, the great disaster at the end of the last Ice Age.” (Pg. 151)
He explains, “The most sacred books of Hinduism are also the oldest body of literature in India. They are called the Vedas… The Mahabharata is an epic poem written … between the fifth century BC and the fourth century AD… the idea that matter and consciousness are grounded in the same reality is identical to the twentieth century discovery of quantum physics that the act of observation can influence the outcome of an experiment. But the fascination they hold for the Indian mind has tended to obscure the fact that the Mahabharata is much more than the Lord’s Song. In its totality, it purports to relate the turbulent history of a prehistorical kingdom in India called Kurukshetra.” (Pg. 201-202)
He concludes, “[in] 1998, NASA released the first new images of the Cydonia region… among the images was a picture of the ‘Face on Mars’ formation, taken in the morning light and from the opposite direction to the originals. The new picture looked nothing like a human face… the enhanced Surveyor picture looked less like a face in blow-up than it did when reduced. This tended to support the position of those who argued that a mile-long sculpture several million years of age might actually look LESS like a face you closer in you got to it… there was the fact that the case for Martian intelligence did not rely on the ‘Face’ along. There were other structures at Cydonia to consider and the relationships between them. Full-scale mapping of the Martian surface---including the Cydonia region---is scheduled to … end [is] 2000. Sometime between those dates, we may yet learn the truth about the ‘Face on Mas.’” (Pg. 232-233)

Ok, so the author is probably a bit cooky, but he does make some good points that are worth examining.

Despite of this book show idea about martian origin of the human race,it contain a interest passage through the history of mankind.
