The Jupiter/Saturn Conference Lectures

Rate this book
This volume comprises eight lectures given at a 7-day conference in Berkeley, California at the time of the Jupiter/Saturn conjunction in July, 1982. In addition to considerable discussion of the Jupiter/Saturn conjunction and its 20-year cycle, the talks cover numerous other subjects such Chart Comparison Dynamics; Chart Synthesis Methods; Research of Relationships; Key Issues of Astrology Today; The Theme of Light and Shadow (Consciousness/ Unconsciousness in the Chart; The Coloration of Ancient Myths with the Astrological signs, thus explaining some Underlying Dynamics of the Personality. Numerous exchanges with the audience add to the dynamic feeling of these talks, as the questions elicit even more of the speakers' observations and experience. Hence, some of the atmosphere that many conference participants found so extraordinary is conveyed in this volume to a far wider audience.

I actually attended the conference where these lectures were given, got the book immediately when it came out. As always, both astrologer were brilliant and as a new Jupiter-Saturn conjunction approaches it is much on my mind again. I highly recommend this book. Very timely.

solid lectures! every one of them was worth a read, and will be using this as a resource for a lot of different astrological concepts going forward.

i bought this book because i thought it was going to be an exploration of the themes / concepts / importance of Jupiter and Saturn in astrology, which it was NOT. it was a collection of transcripts of lectures given by Liz Greene & Steven Arroyo at a conference held in 1981 during a Jupiter/Saturn conjunction in Libra, hence the title. absolutely worth the money though, the essays cover a broad swath of topics i think anyone interested in astrology will appreciate.

I’d particularly recommend:
• Liz Greene’s lecture on light & shadow (connecting various astrological concepts to Jung’s “shadow self”)
• Liz Greene’s lecture on myth and the individual journey (exploring different myths that correlate to zodiac signs, including many connections i would not have thought of otherwise)
• Steven Arroyo’s lecture on relationships and the evasive nature of birth chart synastry

I just get gassed reading the first bit about Libra, Libra being a polarising sign, known for war just as much as peace. Libra AKA the "iron hand in the velvet glove".

Libra is exalted in saturn and the saturn-jupiter conjunction occurs once every 20 years

Very interesting read. What's especially interesting is the fact that the book written in early 80's explains current happenings on the planet quite accurately.
