Cross Council

Rate this book
Cross Council is a collection of short stories from three very different authors. Two stories by Brendan Carroll correlate to his Assassin Chronicles series relating to events in the fictional life of the Chevalier Mark Andrew Ramsay, Knight of Death and poor Knight of Solomon's Temple. The first, "A Dark Council", hearkens back to the role that Sir Ramsay played during the arrest of the Templars on October 13, 1307 and his attempt to ransom one of his Brothers of the Order of the Red Cross of Gold from the Inquisitor's dungeon. The second story, "A Dark Matter", concerns an assignment given to the Oxford-educated, grumpy Scottish Assassin (who doesn't like to think) by his Grand Master. His Excellent Master wants to know about "Dark Matter" and what it is. The first story actually ties into the series and the second is a sort of side story.Trish Lamoree entertains the reader with "Once Upon a November". It's Thanksgiving at the Lair, otherwise known as the underground hide-out of the PSI Consulting crew. They've been coming out about their psychic abilities and pondering jumping across dimensions. Fun times, but Tiara's mother has dropped in for a surprise visit. They've faced down insanity and a madman. They should be able to handle the boss's mother-in-law... if they can manage to tuck all the "magic" into the closet for the visit!! Trish's works include Poor Unfortunate Souls, The Crow and the Unicorn, Psigns 3 in 1 and Never Smile at a Crocodile. And Maureen Miller contributes her own style in a departure from her preferred genre. Maureen has published several romantic suspense thrillers including Widow's Tale, Borrowed Time, Endless Night and Emotional Waves to name a few. In her entertaining early adventures in writing, this one into into sci-fi, she relates a story of an accidental alien abduction with a romantic twist. Maureen's style shines through in "Beyond" as Aimee Patterson tries to make sense of what is happening to her, but whether she understands it or not, she is taking the ride of a lifetime.Bonus Materials include first chapters from Brendan Carroll's latest Assassin Chronicles Thoth, the Atlantean; Trish Lamoree's Painting the Roses Red; and Maureen Miller's romantic Widow's Tale.
