Ruth Anne Barbellis—unhappily nicknamed "Rhubarb" by her lifelong enemy, Bobby Wichowski—is in Wedding Hell. Why?

Her sister is marrying Bobby's brother.

She's trussed up in a bridesmaid dress that must have been designed originally as a Victorian Torture Chamber.

I didn't expect this to be so short. Don't get me wrong, it was a fun read, but it finished waaay too quickly. I love love-hate themes, and the hero and heroine have known each other since childhood. That would mean, they have a lot of history.

Ruth Anne, the heroine and her nemesis, Bobby Wichowski are exiled to the kiddie table during their siblings' wedding. Both of them can't help but torture each other, but this time, Ruth Anne is at a disadvantage. She's stuck in a death-trap of a bridesmaid dress and needs Bobby's help to get her out - and not for something sexy. She's got to pee, bad. Oddly enough, this was enough of a push the pair to realize that they don't really hate each other, but they have been totally in love and lust with each other, for years.

The story is simple enough and it was good. But it lacked the character development that would set it apart from everything else. Ruth Anne's sudden realization that they are meant for each other was disappointing for me because it happened so quickly. There wasn't any build up to it. Their history together was glazed over - too unimportant and childish to elaborate. Their previous encounters as adults was nearly nonexistent. It was frustrating to not have all those details.

Otherwise, it was a cute read and didn't have a full sex scene. It had heavy making out, but it was pretty clean (except for the church house partial nudity). Anyway, I still recommend it. Oh yea, and it was free on kindle.

I downloaded this book on Amazon because it's free and it has a nice cover and the premise seems cute. Unfortunately though, while reading this book I found out that the writing style doesn't suit me. I couldn't get into it. It's potentially good because of its quirky theme but the way the author wrote it seems to be a bit difficult for me to relate. Plus, the characters keep bantering in a very childish way. I specifically dislike Ruth Ann. She is full of whine and blah blah blah, like duh?! I can't help but roll my eyes. I hate characters like her. This book was really not for me.

My review contains spoilers and they're mostly my thoughts as I went with the book...

Damn but this little free novella so goooooooooood!! It was fun, hilarious and absolutely made me fall in love with both Ruth Anne or ‘Rhubarb’ and Bobby. This is my first read of DT’s books and I’m so glad about it. If you’re a sucker for enemies turned lovers theme, this would be an almost perfect example... why I say ‘almost’? Will try to explain.

Ruth Anne and Bobby have known each-other since their nappies, I mean literally. As far as I got that they live in a small community and their mothers have been best friends like forever! And as they were growing up, both Bobby and Ruth Anne has been on each-other’s neck (and a few other places as well lol). Ruth Anne thinks Bobby is the bane of her existence because in every humiliating aspect of her life, Bobby’s name reigned supreme. Unfortunately, this book was told, sort of, from Ruth Anne’s POV (not first person narrative though), so I felt I needed to read Bobby’s thoughts too. But, it was very apparent that Bobby liked to poke and prod at her as much as he can. His life’s goal was to make her life a living hell. And on this wedding day of their siblings, Ruth Anne’s sister and Bobby’s brother, things come down to the ultimate face off.... Or was it? But, certainly Ruth Anne’s life changed for the good and in the end, she was f*cking happy that Bobby has been a part of her life since the beginning of time.

My reaction to the whole book was simply one, sigh. Bobby was perrrrrfect. He was fun and apart from the childish pranks and mischief, Bobby had loved Ruth Anne all his life. Ruth Anne did too but she was just too ‘uncomfortable’ (for the lack of better word here people! Lol) growing up to face this ‘abnormal’ (again, lack of better word :p) fact. She can’t dream of kissing Bobby FGS! It’s a crime that made her run for a confession to the community priest!!!! Lord, I don’t know how to explain but I just about died laughing reading this story.

Now, on to the complaints- one, definitely it should’ve been longer. A few more pages, a more scenes would make it perfect. Two, lack of love scenes. Oh c’mon!!! I wanted them, a lot of them. They would’ve been as fun as Ruth Anne and Bobby’s relationship! Three, a very few typos but I overlooked them, the only thing caught my eyes was the spelling of Bryan Adams’ name. But that’s not a big complain. If the first two of my ‘complaints’ were met, I would rate this 5 stars. Honest! Definitely looking forward to more DT books soon!

4 stars. Imagine me doing this though> rainingstars

DJ, babe, I owe you one for recommending me her books. ;)

“A Wedding Story” is a short story of about 35 pages. I heartily recommend it if you have an hour to spare and looking for something light and fun that will warm your heart. It can be downloaded from smashwords.

Score Sheet Review Summary:

I am wondering how it is I missed the release of this great little novella from Dee Tenorio. And it was quite by chance that I encountered a tweet about this little number, one that I am more than grateful for as for the last 1 hour I was grinning from ear to ear which ended off with a goofy smile on my face after reading that so very cute epilogue at the end.

A Wedding Story is a novella that has a promising premise. Bobby and Ruth (nicknamed Rhubarb) grew up together, each always testing the limits of the other. As grown-ups they haven’t stopped getting on each other’s nerves, the hilarious antics that is shared here and there in the novella making me laugh out loud several times.

At the wedding from Hell where Bobby’s brother and Ruth’s sister are getting hitched, both Bobby and Ruth discover that in each other lies their future, not without delivering a lot of laughter along the way that takes them to that realization.

I just flat-out adored this little number. Equal parts hilarious and heartwarming, this little novella available for free is the perfect place to sample Dee’s writing and obsess over her books as I continue to do ever since I became a fan! Highly recommended!

Real short read about that Ruth Anne and Bobby. He's the boy that has always pestered her from their childhood days into adulthood. When they are banned to the children's table at a wedding - they both realize that their feelings for each other are deeper than they realized. A compromising position, a fainting priest, and a proposal (that no one sees coming)lead to a HEA....

A short novella about two people who have hated each other their entire lives but in actuality they have been in love. I wanted a little more out of the characters during the chapters, but I really liked how the book was wrapped up in the epilogue!

For an itty bitty short story, this one was a blast. I'd love to read a prequel or sequel for it. The hero and heroine just cracked me up big time. They were like two juveniles in a grown up bodies. Absolutely hilarious.

Short! I mean, really short! But truly for what it was, it wasn't too bad. Just a short story about two people who hate each other and then discover they don't. It tried to be funny and I guess it does have it's moments. Anyone looking for something really short will surely love it.

A short, silly novella. The h/H have fought for years, it turns out is because the hero has wanted her forever, so at their siblings wedding they figure that out.

Witty banter, outrageous situations and precarious timing make this well worth the time. Bravo Dee. I love this book.

Corta.

Cute.

Cute little novella. This storyline is a favourite of mine and this book executed it okay. The hero was sweet, the heroine clueless. Not a book I’d read again but it was cute.

A Wedding Story, by Dee Tenorio is short, very funny and has a happy ending where their daughter is sure her Daddy is a hero. It all starts at a wedding and ends at a wedding. The humor is off the charts and makes it so good.
