The Chosen One, My Ass!
Most superheroes come into their power BEFORE birthing four children…
Miranda Gold is perfectly content with the monotonous chaos of her life. She is stay-at-home mom and a loving wife to her still-sexy-after-all-these-years husband, Jake. Everything changes when she begins to hear voices and see strange creatures. She is sure she is losing her mind already, when a young stranger enters her world, complicating things further. George shows up at her door with the most unlikely of explanations for the oddities around her, and a solution Miranda is sure has to be a joke.
Her life is further complicated when her husband returns from a trip to Las Vegas with a newly insatiable sexual appetite.

Really enjoyed the book. I like the writing style and the storyline. The characters were well written and likeable However, I found the frequent use of the wrong words irritating and it detracted from the story. For example, passed instead of past, peaked instead of piqued

This book was unlike anything I've read before, and I really enjoyed it. It took me a dozen or so pages to get into it, but then I didn't want to put it down. The premise was intriguing: that people's beliefs in mythological creatures was bringing them to life and that a Guardian is needed to protect people from them. I didn't really get what the Guardian will actually do (besides what Miranda did at the climax of this book), but I'm excited to read the next book in this series to find out.
I really identified with the main character (she is a mom and I am a mom). I think any mother will love this book because it showcases that. The strongest parts of the book are when Miranda celebrates her life as a stay-at-home-mom and shows how essential she is to her children and husband. The love she shows for her four kids and husband is wonderful, and you can tell only a loving mother could've written that. Like Miranda, I didn't realize until the end how that shows why she's such a capable Guardian. I liked how Miranda stood up for herself, stood up against her husband, and didn't give up.
The humor and sarcasm helped the book along. Just a note, because the blurb above didn't allude to this: the steam level in this book is much higher than I expected. At points I was wondering why there was, ahem, that kind of detail, but it definitely ties the book together by the end. That aspect isn't my cup of tea because I don't read romance (except Outlander 1 and 2), but the scenes were well-written.
George was a fascinating character and I can't wait to read more of him in book 2. I want to read more chapters from his perspective.

I was lucky to receive an ARC from the author! I’ll say starting off, I enjoyed this book more than I thought I would. Think “Buffy the Vampire Slayer”, except the “chosen one” is a badass middle-aged PTA mom who just found out her destiny is to protect humanity from mythical creatures.
I enjoyed the slapstick humor and sarcasm! The characters are very likable and relatable, especially our MC Miranda. The dialogue reminded me a little of Grady Hendrix’s style (satirical and overdramatized at times), overall it was a very fun and unique read! There was also a little bit of SPICE…🌶
I did notice there were a few grammar errors (might’ve only been my copy since it’s an ARC), nothing that tears you away from the story though. There were things that didn’t seem like realistic reactions at all, but I think that was the intention and it still flows well!
I’d say realistically this one is a 3.5/5 stars for me ⭐️ I’m definitely planning on reading the next one once it is released!

If you are triggered by references to emotional abuse, infidelity, childhood trauma or have issues with stories that have some steamy sex with some kink and/or swearing, you probably won't like this book. If you like sass, snark, smart assery, and women who are overcoming diversity in their lives and discovering just how strong they might be, mixed with some kick-ass demon fighting, mythical monsters and some sore, achy muscles in need of Ibuprofen after, and benefits of great counseling, this might be just the right book for you. Imagine Buffy Summers as a coffeeholic, middle-aged mom of four discovering that she is the chosen one and you have the basic beginnings.

What a fun book and an amazing first showing by Michelle Summers.
First, I’m not sure this book is for everyone… But for those of us it is for? It totally checks the boxes.

Loved & enjoyed reading this book!
I really loved and enjoyed reading this book because it wasn't like anything I was expecting. The characters in this book felt so realistic, that I could imagine this story taking place in the real world to be honest. I just felt like the story itself was alive and I am looking forward to reading the next book or books in the series because I feel like its a series of books, that need to continue! I'd like to say, "Thank You to the author Michelle Summers for writing such a remarkable book for readers like myself to enjoy"!

I really did enjoy reading this book. The concept and storyline were well developed, and it was quite entertaining. I feel all the characters were well developed except for one whom I was questioning the reasons for what he was doing. The Docent needed more background as to why he was so off and on with the FMC.
The story had comedy, action, friendship, romance, and a bit of steam. I was thoroughly entranced by this book. I read it in one sitting. I can't wait for the next book in the series!

Nice easy read
A nice easy read that's highly relatable to real life (FMC is a 40 year old mum and wife) with some of your supernatural baddies. Would recommend to someone who wants a light hearted read after a more intense story, for someone who doesn't want too much spice or for someone new to this genre

Wow! So different and MUCH BETTER than expected!
Yes, it's a romance, but so very much more than that! This book beautifully celebrates the awesomeness of moms and wives everywhere. It also has a great many wonderful things to say about believing in yourself. Just an awesome read. I highly recommend it.

This isn’t usually the genre I read, so I wasn’t sure what to expect, but it was fantastic. The story has the perfect pace with a nice balance of action and romance, and the author offers a conversational and sarcastic tone, just loved it! I can’t wait to read the next book in the series.
