This is one of those instances where the book is better than the movie. I love MK Annihilation, but there were so many elements of it that simply didn’t translate well to film. In the book, however, there are no actors butchering their lines. There’s no cheap special effects, no lazy editing, etc. A lot of the “corny” elements come across as sci-fi/supernatural, which in the context of the MK universe works. Also, the fights are most definitely better in the novel. Sheeva, for instance, had a proper fight in this book instead of just being crushed by a cage. Other characters, such as Nightwolf and Ermac, also have larger roles here. If you’re a MK fan, I definitely would give this book a shot.
