Dashing into a store for a Moon Pie, Cory Bright runs right into the middle of a holdup, and meets handsome lawman Holt Berringer, who longs to make the beautiful spitfire his own
written 1991 .... I am re reading books from my books shelves as I am now retired and have the time.
ON my rating scale this was a 3.6 book. This book was the first book in a series of three about the brothers. I probably would not have read the other books if I had started with this one. I started with book #2, CALL ME SIN. Each of the books are stand alone but the characters do float in and out of the series.
Characters: Holt, Texas Ranger was a definite HOT GUY but somewhat controlling. Cory BRIGHT was a feminist but she still fell hook line and sinker for the hot guy. She says / thinks she does not want a domineering male but she does let HOLT run her life .... does the circumstances warrant it....
Description: I got a chuckle out of the description of clothing in the book .... so dated, soooo TACKY. I have always had a thing against logos, spangle and rhinestones on clothing. I prefer a tailored classic look. I also think less description allows us to use our imagination and thus does not date the story.
PLOT: Somewhat believable
MORE to come but I do not have time to write at this time.
It had been awhile since I'd read this book, but I still love it. Cory and Holt are a great couple. Austin makes a great backdrop for the story. I like that Cory stands up for herself but realizes what is important in life. Holt is a somewhat overprotective and a bit of a chauvinist, but Cory won't let him get away with it.
Who can resist a Texas Ranger named Holt? Not I, says this reviewer. And neither can Cory Bright. This is a page-turner romantic comedy filled with fun, attraction, mayhem, attraction… and did I say attraction? Buy this book. You won’t be sorry.
