Seeds is the first book in the Lux series. Lux Omnibus Volume 1, containing Seeds, Call to Arms, and Alliance is now available from Amazon. *** In a crumbling America where teenagers are hunted and contained, a small group of rebels rises up to fight a desperate battle against a power greater than themselves. Lissa isn’t your average seventeen year old to begin with. Raised in a hidden lab, she has been genetically manipulated and given the Lux Marker, an adaptation that allows her to control energy and matter. And she isn’t the only one. Connor has everything a man could want, and he would trade it all in a heartbeat. At least that’s what he thinks until he does just that, giving himself over to the wrong side in return for what he thinks is freedom. Hikari never wanted to be part of the system, but she never expected to be on the run from it, either. When she discovers her congressman father is taking part in a plot to kill innocent people, she pulls a team together from the geek squad at her high school in order to break into his office. However, once they hack into his top secret files, they get way more than they bargained for. Now, as America falls and everything they know and love is destroyed, they will have to build an army to fight for what remains… Because time is running out. *** The fifth book, Lux 2.2: Burning will be released in Winter 2017
I didn't know anything about this book before reading it, I hadn't heard about it from anyone but when I saw it on Amazon I thought it sounded interesting and gave it a shot. And boy was this a action packed book filled with dark and sinister images. The story was interesting in itself, it provided a since of doom and darkness, definately not a fluff book and for those who enjoy romance, this is not the book for you. The plot is complicated and fast, there isn't any time really to just sit there and absorb everything that happens. I couldn't really connect with many of the characters because I didn't know much about them, the inner beings of them were sealed shut almost, they opened themselves up a few times but quickly shut themselves back up. I really wanted to connect with them but there just wasn't enough description and explanation on who they were and how they were coping with everything. The dialogue was good, I didn't really see anything wrong with it and there was some inner dialogue that gave us a quick glimse in what the character was thinking, allowing the reader to grasp a little of that characters dimension. The idea of this was interesting and its not something you see in a oridnary plot and I liked that. I liked to see a new world where love isn't the center of attention and happiness isn't always there. I like to see things go wrong, it makes it more realistic. This story was in three perspectives and I thought that was a really good idea because all three charcters were inter-connected. Though we didn't get good insight of the characters at one time it did allows us to inter-connect the three storylines so that by the end we would get a sense of what was going on and the implication involved. Something else I liked was the authors choice of third person, it really allowed us to see what was going on even if the main character was perhaps out of focus, it was really well thought out.

Last thoughts:
It was an intriguing read over all, I liked the fresh plotline and end. I'm still reeling from the end, I'm still trying to even absorb all that happened in this story. It was very much a short fast paced book, something anyone could take the time to read. Other than a few flaws I enjoyed the story and think that perhaps more will be explained in depth in the second installment. But I guess I'll just have to wait and see. I would recommend this to those of you thrill seekers and also anyone who just likes a short fun read. I wouldn't recommend this to people who love romances or is expecting an in-depth story. In the end I give this book 3.5 stars. Perhaps in a few days I will think it over and give it a higher rating but till then it is what it is.
A great opening to a very compelling idea and story. Slam dunk into a megalomaniacal post-apocalyptic tale. If the rest of the serial tale is as rewarding as the intro it will be an outstanding addition to the genre
A fast multiple threaded discovery story, where a number of individuals find out that everything they thought they knew about their past was wrong, was fake, and that due to a special gene they have special capabilities and powers. This story is about their discoveries, how they deal with that and where they find themselves in a world that uglier than they ever imagined.
I was a little concerned that in one thread, it seemed all the kids were uber-kids, already far and beyond anything normal, that they just seemed to have all the super skills in all the areas need in the plot and that they couldn't fail... until they failed. That was a nice "realer world" kind of twist.
If you're into consipercy theroy stories, gene based powers, discovery of said powers and the hope that a few good can fight many evil, this is a sotry you might like...
Lux 1.1 Seeds is a kick-butt opening sequence. It's the first in a series of more of the same. I enjoyed it overall. The characters were believable and Hansen does a fantastic job of forming these characters in a short amount of space. The pace is breakneck speed, the teenagers are accurate, and it doesn't stop there. If you like nonstop action and a quick, easy read--this is for you. There's supposed to be another one...? I should find it.
This continuing story has so far not failed to deliver. After reading the first two parts, I am totally hooked and can't wait for the third instalment. This book is totally movie material, our even possibly a tv series! That would be awesome...
This is one of those where I just couldn’t finish it and stopped at the 50% mark on my Kindle – there is not much character development, the writing style just couldn’t grab my attention, and it seemed like the author was trying to write a story you just can’t put your finger on that has already been told. I would give this one a wide pass.
In the author’s note to buyers at the beginning of Lux the author explains that the novel is going to be “episodic”. I’m really glad they did. Because of this I knew the ending was going to be a cliffie. Having that knowledge going in made it a lot less annoying when the cliffie happened. (I personally have issues with cliffies sometimes they just get old.) However this is not a review of cliffies, this is a review of Lux 1.1: Seeds, so let me get back to that. I have to say this is quite an awesome start to a series! I was drawn into the characters from the beginning. Yes I have some that I liked more than others, but they all were intriguing in their own way. I can’t wait to get my hands on Lux 1.2 to see what happens to them! Also even though the story itself if short (episodic remember?) the author was able to cram a whole lot into it! There was action as well as some very interesting reveals; I couldn’t wait to see what would happen on the next page. It was fast paced, but done in such a way that it didn’t feel too short or rushed. I kinda even enjoyed the cliff hanger ending! *GASP* I know right!?! Yes everybody was left hanging to various degrees. However first of all I already kinda knew a cliffie was coming. (See above) Second certain things weren’t left hanging. Altogether it really felt like a TV. episode as the author intended. Hopefully the next ‘episode’ of the novel will continue as the first one did.
Lux 1.1 Seeds is a fast paced read, with compelling cliff hanger sequences that will embed within you a deep itch for the next book, and the next, and the next, each promised to be released on the average of 3 weeks apart from the first installment.(August 23rd, 2011)
In Seeds, the first book in the Lux episodic novel, Jalex immediately defines her characters, like steel teeth, zippering you up into their plight. Word by word, she delicately plants and nourishes this tale with subtle duplicitous fore shadowing in kind of Lost. Fully packed with layers of the young adult world mingled with the politics of the day, sci-fi of yesterday with the technology and plausibility of the present future, a wound up top sent spinning on its axis, gaining speed, my stomach clenches...and I wait for the next.
This book sure did not disappoint. Starting from the very first page, I was unable to put the book down because I simply had to know what would happen next. Every character had their own unique personality and way of thinking, which helped me understand why they did what they did. Adding to that, every single page was so wonderfully written that I felt like I was in the book myself. If you love a great story, you have to read this.
Lux 1.1 is an engaging story with fast paced action, developed characters and an intriguing plot. The rest of the series has been added to my wishlist.
