This was one of the BEST stories I've read in a long, long time. If I could give it more than 5 stars, I would. I loved both Rand and Rachel and I loved that they were both 40 and more mature than the usual 20 somethings. Rand is my new hero. WOW what a guy. He was sweet, loving and sweet Jesus what a creative imagination. He loved playing out fantasy's and he was damn good at it. Rachel's fantasy of a burglar breaking into her home and raping her was unbelievably hot. And then when he took her to Vegas for the night, I thought the pages in the book would start on fire. I really liked Rachel too and felt for her in trying to raise 2 teenaged boys and deal with an asshole ex husband. Her ex had inhibited her so much but it was great to see her break free and grow and strengthen with Rand's tutoring. What a wonderful principal Rand was. I'm a retired teacher and I gotta tell you I wish I had had a principal like him, in more ways than one, if you know what I mean. ; )) This book goes on the keeper pile.
This is book number three of a series I've not heard of. I don't know about you but I love reading random serial books that enables me to follow the story without ever having read the rest of the series. In all honesty, after reading this one, I'm dying to read the rest of the series and probably even more from this author. Her books are steamy, to say the least. But in The Principal's Office's case, I also found some substance in it.
This follows the story of Rachel, newly-divorced and looking for some much-needed stress outlet. Colour her happy when she meets a tall, handsome, sexy Viking in Rand. But she's also not looking for a relationship; the woman just wants someone to show her a good time. Lucky for her, Rand is game to do her bidding. Everything was hunky-dory right up until the part when she gets called in the principal's office of her eldest son. It turns out that the man who tutors her on the wicked sins of the flesh is the same person who seems to have it out for her son.
Oh boy. If you're not ready to indulge in some unbridled, unadulterated erotica read, this book may not be for you. I, on the other hand, embraced Ms. Haynes wicked tales of consenting adults discovering the joys of forbidden lust.
I did mention some substance, didn't I? Well, don't fret. This book is not all about sex. The story also shows how Rand helped Rachel find her place in her sons' lives and how to fight for the things she cares about. I love the give-and-take relationship between these two; it's quite refreshing to read a romance where the man isn't bulldozing his way into his woman's life. The best thing about this book (besides the copious amounts of smexy times), is the much-needed lesson Rand taught Rachel's son. It was a touching story about standing up to bullies and protecting those who can't protect themselves. This was also a lesson that Rachel learned while standing up to her ex.
Though the book's cover will deceive you into believing that this is just another Dom/sub play which involves the principal and the unsuspecting single mom, it was way more than that. And this is why I thoroughly enjoyed this book; the author simply didn't write erotica, she wrote about self-discovery and showing courage when it counts.
VERDICT: A hot and steamy read with valuable life lessons to boot. Jasmine Haynes gave dimensions to characters when some erotica authors would not. I believe this the beginning of yet another addiction. :)

Rachel Delaney is a divorced mother of two teenage boys, and she's lonely. Not only do her sons spend every other week with her ex-husband, she hasn't had a physical relationship for a very long time. She was too busy being a mom and dealing with her depressed husband to even think about sex. When she runs into a tall stranger at the supermarket one Saturday morning, it sparks some very naughty fantasies in her head. Then she bumps into him again, and agrees to have coffee with him if they bump into each other again. She isn't ready for a relationship, but coffee couldn't hurt. So when they bump into each other yet again—at a coffee shop this time—it seems like fate has stepped in. The pull of attraction is strong between them, and they agree to embark on a fling...with a few ground rules. No last names. No calling on the weeks that she has her sons. No talking about her to his buddies. No problem. She's overdue for the kind of wild, passionate, heart-pounding deliciousness he can deliver.
But there's a surprise waiting for Rachel: Rand is her son's high school principal. D’oh. If that isn't awkward enough, her older son is acting like a total jackass. Not only is he being a sullen jerk to her at home as he plays her against her ex husband, he's also bullying an autistic boy at school because of peer pressure. As a mother of an autistic child, I wanted to reach inside the pages and sucker punch the kid. Repeatedly. I'm glad he had such a caring and experienced principal to help set him on the right path, because his idiot dad sure wasn't up to the challenge.
The Principal’s Office was absolutely one of the hottest books I've ever read. Rachel's ex made her feel bad about her fantasies, and not only is Rand accepting and supportive, he helps her live them. Their sex is wild, kinky, passionate, and mesmerizing. He’s a keeper and I’m glad Rachel realized it. The way these two burn up the pages is brilliant. Add deep, genuine emotions and a fast-moving plot and Jasmine Haynes has written another definite winner.
Single mom. Her teenage son’s principal. Sweet baby Jesus. This book contains every fantasy you’ve held in because you’re too afraid to let it out. But what I loved about it was that it wasn’t just hot sex, it had heart behind.
This book shows that you can be a hardworking single mother or a highly educated principal shaping young minds, but you can still get down and dirty. FREAKING LOVED IT.
Why 4 instead of 5? There were a couple of nicknames or phrase that were a turn off, but other than that I highly recommend this book.
In The Principal's Office author Jasmine Haynes introduces us to Rachel Delany, a recently divorced working mother with two teenage boys. For the first time in her life she has to figure out how to raise her sons, put food on the table, and a roof over their head all on her own. She also discovers that after seventeen years of marriage her sexual desires have been virtually untapped. But does she really have time for a relationship when her sons are acting out because of the divorce, she’s financially strapped, working long hours and has no time for herself? Having a no-strings/sex-only relationship could be just the thing she needs, and that’s exactly what she unexpectedly finds when she meets Rand.
Rand is the perfect man - good looking, intelligent, and he knows a thing or three about a woman’s body. He’s all that and more, and he should be. After all if Rachel is going to explore her wild side she needs a man who will fulfill all of her fantasies. It’s only fair. Their exploration of each other’s desires and sexual needs is handled with both passion and respect.
I enjoyed that both Rachel and Rand were older and had life experiences to bring to their characters. Rachel’s dual life of taking care of her children and working is told with both humor and realistic descriptions of the madness that sometimes goes along with raising teenage boys. Her relationship with her ex-husband gives us insight into why she agrees to have this no-strings sexual relationship with Rand. And Rand? Well his duality of being a school principal and educator as well as a man who is passionate and sexual is not only interesting but makes him a stronger character. The Principal’s Office is a solid erotic romance with a strong plot and interesting characters willing to explore the myriad of lines one walks when discovering passion and living outside the box.
With the cover, I thought it would be another one of those BDSM books with the principal really getting into the role of a 1960s principal. I am old enough that I was spanked by the principal. I was totally set up and I was completely innocent of course (wink, wink). This was public school by the way. It ended by the time I made 7th grade. So I was having non-sexual flashbacks and thinking this principal was wishing for the old days.
This book is about sexual freedom. Rachel is at the grocery store being "checked out" (oh my gosh - I'm turning into my brother-in-law!) by Rand. He kind of flirts by brushing up against her when she's having trouble getting some orange juice out of the case. He believes that the laws of attraction will bring that person into your life again and so when Rachel runs home he doesn't worry. Rachel's been divorced about 6 months with two teenage sons. She was married 19 years I think. Well the laws of attraction do bring Rand and Rachel together and they end up finding out he's the principal at her oldest son's high school. Now she's freaked out.
A lot of erotica isn't big on character development but this book was. I loved Rachel. She was so normal. I liked how their relationship progressed. I liked how she was with her sons and her ex-husband. This was really a great book.
This is the first time I've read this author and I plan on reading more of her books.
This book was so intense, HOT and a GREAT READ that it moved me to write a review.
The story line drew you in from the start and kept moving. I am one of those people who can predict a story line right form the start. even if you can and knowing how a book follows a certain formula, the author's writing is so good and just so, that even if you anticipate what will happen you are left in a spell that when it unfolds you don't see it coming. As I was reading, this book took me by surprise and kept me second guessing myself. My heart raced.
The characters were well developed and were likeable and the dynamics between them were absolutely breathtaking and yes there was angst as well. I liked that the characters were in in a seasoned age and not in their 20's. I was on the edge with this book so many times. The sex scenes were so H.O.T. and intense, always something new. You were not locked in to the same mundane writing. I like the way each sex scene kicked it up a notch and moved another gear then the one prior.
This book will leave you with a major book hang over. I could not put it down.
This book should be illegal!! Nah, it's just way to HOT, i mean H-O-T. This story is about a mother whose self esteem had crumbled down after her divorced; then she met a guy who had given a whole new meaning to her life especially to her sexuality, once again she had felt alive and wanted. Before agreeing to have an affair, they made some ground rules, and agreed that it is just S-E-X between them. But what will happened if things got complicated? and the man, that she had lusted and still lusting is interwoven in the reality she lives in. Will she choose to be happy?, to have a relationship and stopped their affair or will she go back to her old self? There are lot of hot scenes in this book, sure it is erotic but this book has more depth to it; it is a story of a mother who had redeemed herself and learned how to loved and be loved again :)
This was the first book that I read after Fifty Shades of Grey. I wanted something similar and I found it in this book. The cover instantly drew me in. What can I say, I judge a book by it's cover. Before I even read the synopsis I had an idea of what this book was going to be about. It went in the complete opposite direction, which I was happy about because it kept my interest. The love scenes were hot and steamy, just like I like them. I wish there was another book following these characters because I want to know more. :) I would recommend this book to anyone who enjoyed Fifty Shades of Grey.
Characters, events, nothing interested me. I wanted more relationship development.
There’s a lot of sex, but I found myself skimming those scenes. I felt detached when reading the sex scenes. By the time I read half the book, I was tired of reading. So I stopped and jumped to the last few chapters.
DATA: Narrative mode: 3rd person. Story length: 308 pages. Swearing language: strong including religious swear words. Sexual language: strong. Number of sex scenes: frequent. Setting: San Francisco bay area, California. Copyright: 2012. Genre: erotic contemporary romance, divorce.
3.5 stars My first Haynes. definitely want to read more. It reminded me loosely of Sweet Dream, the stories are nothing a like but heroine is on a similar journey. She just got out of a horrible marriage and she remakes herself. The H helps but doesn't take over and do it for her.
Also liked how ex husbands new girlfriend was handled.
Biggest draw back is price of the ebook. I bought it on recommendation from someone I trust but not sure I'll by others at that price.
I really enjoyed this book. I had read Past Midnight as it was the first book in this series but it is not necessary to enjoy The Principal's Office. Neither is the second book which I passed on.
Rachel is a divorced mom of two boys. She lives with the stereotype that mothers should not be sexy, not want sex and God forbid actually LIKE sex! One morning Rachel meets a handsome stranger at the grocery store who will rescue her orange juice from the top shelf and later rescue Rachel in more ways than one. From the first meeting, Synchronicity takes over...
The dynamic between Rachel and Rand (Principal Torvick) is nothing short of steamy. The conversation where Rachel sets the rules is wonderful but once Rand reveals his rules the heat gets turned up more than one notch!
I really liked the involvement of Rachel's sons in the story. Ms. Haynes is a wonderful story teller who blends the everyday with a fantasy. There is no billionaire there to buy you Audi's, no strong but silent man who falls into money and can solve every problem you may have whether you like it or not. She places Rachel and Rand in real life situations and lets them lean on one another to fight their battles. It is not only an erotic novel but you see the intimacy of a couple develop outside of the bedroom where true intimacy lives.
This was an interesting book, we have only seen glimpses of Rachel in the previous books. She has seemed mousy and dowdy, turns out Rachel she isn't, she just needed the right person to let her shine. You can tell that her ex-husband didn't appreciate her and did what he could to box her in.
After their divorce Rachel is trying to find herself again, and boy does she. Through the book she stands up to her kids, to situations at her job, and finds that vanilla sex isn't for her. Her interludes with Rand seem to give her more and more confidence with each one. The odd connection the two had that was revealed mid-book surprised me, although I shouldn't have been. This connection added more to the story.
I really liked how Rand and Rachel feed off of each other. The rules kept changing, but Rand pushed Rachel in a way that she needed and learned to love, you could tell by the way that she pushed back at him.
I hated the ex at the end, he was such a bastard! I was so happy when Rachel decided that she needed to stand up to him and she did so in a spectacular way! The ending was great, one in which Rachel will keep doing what she can do to find herself.
For a book that was at least 50% sex, it was surprisingly good. The plot was intriguing, and a quick read.
Here are the things I liked –
1. Great main characters, with sizzling chemistry. 2. Older hero (40) & heroine (39), with interesting, but complicated lives. 3. Heartbreaking subplot about bullying. 4. Hot, hot, hot, sex scenes. Did I mention hot? 5. Asshole ex-husband. A character you love to hate.
For an erotic book, this one had substance. The sex scenes weren’t boring or repetitive, but for me there were too many. It was still a very entertaining read; I definitely would be interested in reading more from this author.
** This is the 3rd and final book in the series, but I didn’t read the first two. Each book has different main characters, there are brief glimpses of them in this book. I wasn’t lost or confused with the storyline, they can be read as a standalone.
This book was definitely more intense than my normal romance reads. It was way kinkier but with characters a little older than what I normally read (no offense to anyone). Seeing real world problems with motherhood and teenagers was definitely not my thing and it tainted the book for me. But even more so was Rachel who seemed to have no back bone when it came to her sleaze-bag ex-husband and her surly son, Nathan. And then you never got a real answer as to why their marriage ended in the first place. I was waiting for some twist or turn, some revelation, but nothing came. The whole story was just...eh. The whole bullying thing was a little contrived as well (after you read you will know what I mean). Not interested in the rest of this series as this just didn't do it for me.
Reviews on this story were pretty mixed, but I really liked it. Rachel was a very realistic character. Her faults were relatable and her strengths make her very likable. I'm also a sucker for a story with strong mothers and Rachel loves the hell out her kids. Her relationship with her son Nathan padded out the romance and sexy times with Rand nicely.
Rand was super sexy stud and I think Haynes did a nice job of mixing his domineering side with a big heart. There's nothing worse then reading a Dom who is actually just a jerk. A light, sexy, full read. Great for the beach or some weekend relaxing. :)
FUN FUN FUN !!! That's the first thing that comes to mind with this story but it also has a lot of meaning to it. Single mom, struggling to raise 2 boys meets HOT HOT HOT single guy looking for fun sex with no strings, which is right up her ally, just to find out he's her boys principal! YEAH, this book had it's moments LOL LOL LOL .... While the concept of this book may have been FUN, it was full of lesson and heartwarming episodes and some heart-wrenching ones as well. As I've mentioned in my past reviews, Ms Haynes can write a good sexual book with meaning. And that's how I like it!!!
I haven't met a Haynes book I did not like yet! Truth! :]
I REALLY enjoyed this book!! I loved the characters - I cared about the characters. Granted, it was hard for me to watch Rachel take so much guff from her boys, that is not my way of parenting, but I could understand her feeling so beaten down by the ex husband and who she was now. Rand ... ahhh, Rand!! What a man - what a real life kind of hero. Kinky, sexy, strong, and GOOD MAN. I highly recommend this book!
It was okay - sweet in a way, well developed characters or realistic at least but... a bit rushed/off. I don't know. Average/good. Nothing really noteworthy. I liked the family dynamics though, between the mom and her kids. The ex was a douche, but it was so nice his new girlfriend had a spine and could kick his ass. Yay girls! And yay no stereotype of skanky useless/trashy new girlfriend.
Really enjoyed this one! Fun premise and likable characters. I liked the fact that the hero and heroine were older and were dealing with things like divorce and teenage kids. Couldn't put the book down. :)
If you like a great sexy steamy read then you would want to read it. Loved the plot characters. Descriptions not overly done. Great fantastic read. Funny and sexy from beginning to end..
First read in 2014. Erotic romance. Third book in a loosely connected series.
CW: attempted revenge porn
This was hot. It is slightly dated at times, but the sex scenes make up for it. I love that both leads are (almost) 40. Rand knows what he wants and that’s hot (and he has dimples). Rachel isn’t sure what she wants until she is - her growth is good (and she has big boobs).
I like how Rand is turned on by Rachel’s inexperience - and not in a creepy way. It gets him hot being the *teacher* or mentor as he says. I really like how
At times things are stretched - they exchange emails whilst being in the sex-only-on-first-names stage, unsure if it’s even a real name… so the email must only include their “pretend” first name? Also: littering a used condom? Ew. No.
Lots of sex and it good, including: voyeurism/exhibitionism, dirty talk, phone sex, vibrators, both wanking (separately), mutual masturbation, cum play, public outdoor sex, eating her out, blowjob (filmed), light bondage, cnc, fingering, driving blowjob/fingering, snowball kissing, ear kissing/licking, semi-naked public lap dance, a scene where she dominates him - ties him up and blindfolded, lots of role-play, light (pussy) spanking.
I haven’t read any of the other books in the series, not necessarily massively drawn to them but I do want read more by this author.
This was sort of a sweet book, despite the obvious gender essentialism. I'm not really into books where the sexiness is mainly signalled by and directly related to how him being tall makes her feel petite and feminine, she doesn't know how sexy she is and he teaches her the secrets of sex etc etc. There was a fantasy reenactment that I really liked, but that was mostly it. Not badly written, but not really my thing. I don't regret reading the book, but it made it all the clearer why I stay away from much of cishet romance.
Also, even though Rand was a self described kinkster, this was relatively tame, as far as kink goes.
I liked this book quite a bit. this was a quiet but sexy read about a divorced mother who takes a step back into the dating world, even though she's scared 💩less to do so. I understood Rachel's hesitation. it at times got on my nerves but I understood the underlying cause was fear. her lover Rand is still a bit of an enigma to me even after having finished the book. strangely in okay with that. her ex-husband Greg is a dick. just a guy you would love to see knocked on his rear one good time.
After this, I melted into a puddle of goo, I've been gooified, period. Rand Torvik has officially become one of the sexiest heroes I've ever read about. Kidnapping-worthy, I'd tie him up and never let him go. I'd like one like him, dear Lord (one can always dream, right).
Still swooning, panting, hot flashing. Please, read this if you want to get impressed (but only if you enjoy torrid scenes with plenty of dirty, filthy talking).
Gave it one star because I didn't realize what kind of book it was. After I found out what kind of book it was I skipped all those scenes... just not the kind of books I like 🤷 way too much sex for my taste. Would have given it more stars because it had a promising storyline. Definitely getting rid of this one.
This book was much better than the first two in this series. The ex husband and the kids were a major role in this book and it just seemed to take over and diminish the love story.
