Rate this book
Missy heads out on her vintage motorcycle for what proves to be a ride of a lifetime. Every new road brings with it new friends, new experiences and even a sexy romp with a tattoo artist. It's summers' end when Missy rides into the small town of Waverly for Bike Week, and  sets sight on the most beautiful man she's ever seen on two wheels. Tommy marks the beginning of many hot, steamy nights. Is he Missy's, 'happy ever after', or is there a twist around the next bend in the road, nobody saw coming?

In compliance with FTC guidelines, I disclose that I received the book for free through Goodreads First Reads!!!

This is the first book in this genre that I have read. And I must say I was impressed! When I found out that I had a won a copy of an 'erotic suspense' novel I giggled and rolled my eyes, not really knowing what to expect.

I immediately loved Missy's desire for adventure. That characteristic alone made this read enjoyable. I loved how in the first half of the book, Missy is a young naive reckless rider, and by the end shes grown into a strong women who learns from her mistakes and takes control of her life again.

This book was written well and I could clearly picture the bad-ass bikers and their hangouts in my mind, And loved how we got to learn what they were really like. This book was such a fun read with so many fast twists that kept me turning the page to find out what happened. Id read Laudan again any day.. and she's Canadian to boot! :)

Feeling stifled by the only life she's ever known, Missy decides it's time to spread her wings and leave the comfort of her unorthodox, overprotective but loving extended family. She leaves behind a man she knows loves her and hits the road on her bike to find herself. I can say much about the story without giving away some crucial plot lines, but Missy’s journey leads her to self-exploration, a multitude of lifelong friends, heartbreak, love, a family of her own, revenge and healing.

The reader is given a glimpse of the biker world and the bond they all share. Missy's tale will have you laughing, crying, outraged and sighing. I didn't see the end coming. There were twists and turns that had me surprised all throughout her journey, but it was the last few paragraphs that had me in tears. Happy tears. This was one emotional ride, and a great one it was.

BEST BITS: When Jag reveals a newly finished Lady to Missy.

Nadia's tattoo and the aftermath...whew!

Ben's strength.

“How shall we celebrate?”

Missy looked up at him, her eyes danced with love and happiness. A slow smile came to her lips. “Let’s ride.” *SIGH*

VERDICT: If you'd like a glimpse inside the multi-dimensional biker world that is full of family strength and support, ups and downs, love and war, don't pass up this book. Missy loves to "be in the wind" and Elle Laudan took my breath away.

I received this book for free through Goodreads First Reads.

When I win a giveaway and need to write a review where I know I won't "rave" about the book, I hesitate. Something just doesn't feel right about giving less than 3 stars if someone was gracious enough to select you as the winner. You know that saying..."if you don't have anything nice to say...."? *sigh* Ultimately, I still owe it to the author to be honest.

That being said, I couldn't finish this book. The sentences were very short and choppy - what I mean is each sentence seemed to end abruptly. Also, the natural flow of the book was difficult for me to follow. Because of this, I didn't feel any connection to the characters. There was a scene in the beginning where the primary character was leaving for a road trip. A goodbye party was held for her and everyone was hugging, crying, etc. I realy struggled with this scene because while I knew naturally the friends would have this type of emotion, I didn't "feel" it as the reader.

I have a group of co-workers that I share all my giveaways with and I know I'll be passing this one along as well. It may have fallen flat for me but I'm hoping the same will not hold true for others.....
