The Run Down: Kelly is a waitress who aspires to open her own coffee shop and has sworn off relationships until her mission is accomplished. Derek is a the owner of a doughnut shop in the small town of Blue Mills where the two both live. One night Kelly sees a tall, muscular, sexy hunk in a bath towel running down the street, his delicious booty on display for all to see. Like most people living in this digital age, she did what most of do when we see something intriguing: she took out her cell phone and snapped a quick picture. She of course never thinks to see the naked stranger again. When he nearly runs her down in his car, sparks fly, and though Kelly tries to resist, her protestations are no match for the sexy Derek's charms. When Derek's naked-booty photo gets spread all over town, hilarity ensues and the small community of Blue Mills is rocked by the scandal that follows.
What I loved about this book: It combines two things girls love: sexy men and doughnuts!
What I didn't like about this book: It's entirely too short Ranae Rose!!! I wanted more of that sexy Derek!
Let's talk about love scenes: So hot, there was smoke coming off of my kindle!
The Review: I don't read much erotica. There tends to be way too much sex and not enough story. In the case of 'Glazed' by Ranae Rose, I found there was the perfect balance of story and sexuality. The characters were likeable and beleiveable, the story relatable. For me it was a tad predictable as I was guessing what was going to happen before it happened, but I didn't mind the predictability at all. It was nice to sit back and read a book that is as enjoyable as a romantic comedy on a Friday Night. It is in no way heavy or cerebral. The book is just light, sassy fun mixed with sex scenes so scorchin' you may lose your eyebrows!
Naturally my favorite character in the book is Derek. He's sexy, athletic, and a hard-worker (which I find to be the biggest turn-on of all). Even when Kelly tries to push him away he pursues her in a way that makes you want to jump into the book and shake Kelly to her senses! Ms. Rose does and excellent job of making the reader wish she were the heroin just to get a piece of the hot and sexy hero.
One of the best things about this book is the in the midst of all the hot sex, Ms. Rose stops to offer the reader a lesson in safe sex. Too many books have couples just jumping into bed together without adding the very realistic element of "the condom talk" most couples have to have when starting a sexual relationship. If you're thinking that a condom commercial in the middle of a sexy scene kills the mood, then think again! Ms. Rose doesn't miss a beat and takes us right back into the action in a way that makes us forget there was even a moment involving contraception.
To sum it all up: I enjoyed this book. It was a light, fun read that had both humor and sex appeal. I would definitely read it again and look forward to reading other works by this author. Well done, Ms. Rose.
