Fascinating is the best word to describe Dr Shini Somara’s Engineers Making A Difference with the long subtitle Inventors, Technicians, Scientists and Tech Entrepreneurs Changing the World, and How You Can Join Them which almost sums the book up. But it would be a little bit boring if I left you with just the title! What do we know about engineers I wondered when I saw this book – the answer I got was that they are usually the people who put things together, they help make things. Does this sum them up? it does a for a child which is where this accessible and fascinating What On Earth Books publication comes in – it wants us to see that engineers are more than just the sum of their assumed parts.
Out there, in the real world, engineers are the rue superheroes of everyday life for it is they who use their problem-solving skills to face huge challenges. From creating clean energy to prosthetic limbs, working on solving the issue of food shortages to working with AI engineers do it all. In this book you have the opportunity to learn what an engineer does and how and you can read interview with 46 of them.
