Story Behind the Book

“In the thirty-seven years I’ve lived as a quadriplegic, I have been forced time and again into the arms of Jesus. Sometimes my paralysis has pushed me down the road to Calvary, like a sheepdog snapping at my heels. Sometimes suffering is like a jackhammer, breaking apart my rocks of resistance and pride. Most often, my wheelchair has dumped me at the foot of the cross, and I have rested there by the overwhelming conviction that I have nowhere else to turn. But that’s okay. In fact, it’s a blessing. It’s all a bruising-of-a-blessing. Because near the cross, in the arms of Jesus, I have discovered deep, sweet, peaceable intimacy with the Savior. It’s an intimacy worth sharing!”

When in a battle, we need to be reminded that all of us suffer. Putting it in perspective is healing.

Everyone faces adversity in this world at some point in your life. Christians will often face more adversity then non-Christians. Why? Because God uses our adversity for His glory. In this daily devotional Joni Eareckson Tada helps us look at the adversities we face a little differently. Joni knows what she is talking about. She became a quadraplegic as a result of a diving accident at 17 and has turned her suffering into a testimony to God and His love.

Great devotional. I recommend it highly. It will get you closer to God.

Joni uses her creative imagination to word craft a series of small stories about how to deal with adversity.

Good, helpful, Biblical

I wondered, "Why would she write about adversity?" Then I realized that so many of the people that she ministers to are disabled and deal with depression, pain, suffering. Not all of us have to deal with these thing on such a constant basis. Good words and wise words here.
