David Striepe lives in Atlanta, Georgia among cats, flowers and smog. He writes poetry and short stories, and has published two books of poems, miniature ships and distant friends. He loves fixing things, gardening, games, and music. He is married to a crafty genius, Becky Striepe.
distant friends, Striepe’s second book of poetry, is a collection of 18 clever, catchy, rhyming poems. Striepe’s writing is whimsical, reminiscent of Shel Silverstein.
I honestly thought I had reviewed this already. In "Distant Friends," David Striepe takes us on a poetic, stream-of-consciousness journey through the denizens of a post-apocalyptic world. Think of it as a ghostly spirit-of-poetry drifting through the minds of the survivors as they carry about their daily tasks. It's an experimental and ambitious theme, but one that works quite well here.
