A fantastic series you won't want to miss! ~ #1 New York Times Best Selling Author Sherrilyn Kenyon
Mighty warriors sworn to protect humanity, the shape-shifters known as The Shadowmen move between two worlds. Now their dark leader has exiled himself from the spirit world, opening the door to the forces of chaos...and to the power of love.
Half wolf, half man, Aragon has abandoned his brethren to repay a debt of honor; he is sworn to kill a rogue Blood Hunter, though exacting revenge will doom him to a ghostly existence trapped between two worlds. But when a mortal woman unexpectedly calls him to her side, the heat of her soft flesh arouses a hunger in him that threatens to complicate his mission.
Dr. Annette Batista, a dedicated healer, is determined to find her missing sister. With the amulet found at the site of her sister's disappearance, she unwittingly summons a shadowy warrior. She wonders if she can trust this powerful male named Aragon, who claims he can vanquish her sister's captor -- the very monster he's vowed to destroy. Or is Annette blinded by her shocking passion for the most alluring, mysterious man she's ever seen?

OK, the first book caught me, and the second book hooked me. And to be honest with you, it hurts. I want to pick up the third right now and find out which set of characters I get to delve into next. This book throws us into the lives of Dr. Batista. From the first book I really thought this chick was an ice queen. Now that we get to meet her and see what is going on in her world and get to understand her world, she has a right to be an ice queen. Again, I guess we shouldn't judge the proverbial book by its cover. Now, Aragon **sighs deeply and heads into the other room to change into something a little more comfortable** is smokin' hot. These Shadowmen just keep getting hotter! How is this even possible? Jared was hot, but Aragon has got to be my favorite so far..... OK Ms. St.Giles, what have you got in store for me now? Well written characters...check. Action...check. Steam...check. Hot men...check. Strong women...check. What more could I ask for? Let's find out in Shadowmen 3......I'll be back!
This book picks up right where book one leaves off, this series definitely needs to be read in order. We got to see more insight from the other characters, and it was kind of nice that Aragon's ending/future was not quite the same as Jared's from book one.
I am disappointed though, that they couldn't hold onto their were-forms. The appeal of a werewolf book, to me at least, is the balance that the human love interest brings to the beast. I don't believe a "beast" can be fully tamed, only calmed, and I loved the begining of the series because that calming influence was a very big part of the story. It was still part of book two, but not quite as much. I just wish that both men had retained the ability to shift, but it's not enough to make me leave the series alone!
Now I have to wait until April and May of 2009 for the next two books, and it's driving me a little crazy, so I'm filling my time with more books while I wait!

I moved quickly onto this book after reading the first in the series Touch a dark wolf , Aragon is determined to put things right after not having enough belief that his fellow Shadowman Jared could be redeemed , Throwing his Shadowman medallion away in his attempt to track & kill his old mentor it was hard to see who was the most surprised when he appeared in Dr Annette Batista's bath , him or her . This is just the start of the attraction that smoulders between them but both are carrying heavy baggage , Aragon needs his honour restored & he thinks there's only one way to do that before he faces punishment for abandoning his duty , Annette just needs to find her missing sister & her guilt is intensified when she finds out she's been unknowingly helping her sisters captors . Plenty of action , love the interaction between the sheriff & the women plus the two Shadowmen discovering life in the real world is as hard as living in the shadow world but it does have better rewards , looking forward to more .
You know when you have already invested so much time reading the first 150 pages and you are determined to finish the book even though it grates your nerves. The Lure of the Wolf is that book. I read paranormal novels for escapism and I am definitely able to let my imagination stretch as far as it necessary to enjoy a storyline. But this book became ridiculous at some points. The writing style was enjoyable, the sex scenes were hot but became repetitious (count how many times the word need is used). It is unfortunate because I could have liked this book a lot, but when inconsistencies and nonsensical characters pop up it tended to shift my focus on the actual story to the flaws.
For instance, you have Blood Hunters ,with rippling pecs and super powers, who have survived a milennia in wars against rogue evil demons and otherworldly monsters, but the women in the book have no sense of self preservation. The first time they put themselves in danger and the men have to rescue them is cute. The second time - okay what are you doing??!!. The third time is a WTF moment...these women are doctors for cryin out loud!!!!
Annette really began to annoy the hell out of me. After being captured by the evil Pathos, she has been oiled, plucked and splayed out waiting for Pathos to violate her.(he has to shower first). Aragon comes in to rescue her skinny, slippery naked ass, but first she wants him to check next door and see if her sister is there??!!! WTF!!!
Sam and Meggie seemed to be the only ones with common sense. Sam is a realist who knows first hand the monsters will kill then eat you. He admits to being scared - smart guy. Meggie calls her mom Emerald on the phone and basically says don't take your ass near the red demons, they will eat you. (Emerald finally listens)
There are about 5 storylines going on that never really meld very well. Again it would not have been that noticeable if it was a great story. All in all, this book was a dissappointment. I stopped and started it about 3 times and finally gave up at around page 300. I skipped around to find out if Annette finds her sister........spoiler..................
She does. The end.

This is a good paranormal romantic thriller with an interesting exploration of good versus evil involving the spirit realm and earth. Shape shifter Aragon, a leader of the spirit realm's Guardian Forces, has been on a quest to destroy his one time mentor, Pathos, who betrayed his brothers of the fight for good, and joined the evil forces. Aragon's quest brings him to earth, where he unexpectedly lands in the path of Dr. Annette Batista, who is on a quest of her own to find her missing sister, Stefanie, who disappeared six months ago from the mountains of Tennessee. Soon Aragon and Annette begin to realize that Pathos may also be at the root of Stefanie's disappearance, and Aragon and Annette join forces in their hunt for Pathos, and the fight against evil.
Aragon is half man and half wolf and although some might say he goes about it the wrong way,is a man led by his honor and code of ethics. Does it hurt that he's a hunk? Hardly. But really, when it comes right down to it,thats not what draws Dr. Annette Batista to try one more time to find Aragon at the stone pillars. No. It's because of the qualities that she sees in him as simply being part of what makes him Aragon. He's honorable, loving, courageous and now mortal. What more could a woman want, right? The highs and lows these two and their friends go through to get to this spot,ya don't wanna miss.
While the characters, informative dialouge and plot of the first book in this series flowed gracfully this one seemed to run together like a series of smaller stories not fitting as one. The author, I think, didn't want to follow the exact same formula for the main characters but this second book was a mess of about 5 seperate stories that didn't seem to be coming together, even up until page 197. While I enjoyed the characters and setting (the idea of Blood Hunters) this was too complicated and wasn't coming together as the first one did.
The Lure of The Wolf has lots of good steamy sex scenes and a great budding love story, but I was surpised by how much action/adventure there was that kept me captivated as well. I feel more immersed in this world now and I am intrigued to see more storylines with Emerald & Sam and the other Shadowmen. I like the way Jennifer st. Giles writes a love scene - very hot but without the corny terminology that can ruin it. On to the next book (where I am sure at least one of the bad guys is sure to rise from the supposed dead to cause havok).
This one was okay but it took a while for me to get through it. It is about a werewolf who has given up being leader of the "Guardian Forces" because he thinks that he has failed in his task. But the Forces think that he has turned evil so they are after him. A woman on Earth finds his amulet and calls him to her. She needs help finding her sister. They fall in love and go on this chase to find her sister and eliminate his enemies.
"you're like a dragon who breathes nothing but fire, scorching everyone in his path twenty-four/seven."
"part of loving is letting another walk the way they need to and not the way you want them to."
"wait before you judge yourself so harshly. though the path taken now may seem to have been in error, the journey isnt over. there may yet be a reason for the present."
"shut the fuck up, your disbelief doesnt have to poison everything."
Very involved book where a woman ends up conjuring a werewolf/shapeshifter. She is looking for answers about her missing sister. He is on his own mission of course but her warm mortal flesh is far to good to resist. Book wasn't my bag, but thats not saying it's not someone elses.
Picks right up where first leaves off. Aragon ends up on Earth and at Annette's beck and call. Sam is having issues about Belize and of course that is where this book ends up. Vampire bite, visions and evil corrupt people. Love wins out.
It's awesome in a terrible way. Or terrible in an awesome way? Anyway, I love anything involving immortals and lovers who can use their telepathy to advance the heroine's sexual pleasure.
Really like the story line and the writing of this author. A little too much smut for me. I'm going to continue on to the next book but a bit sad about the smut.
