the book is very uninteresting to me... it is very narrated with no character development. then some things just felt superficially gloss over like the hero's past etc.

additionally, the insta-lust totally gave me an insta-eyeroll, then the book continued with insta-whatever in everything...

lastly, i don't know whether should i categorise it as an editing issue or consistency issue. why did i say this?
chapter 2: her eyes are so blue that i can't see anything else.
.
.
but jump 2 chapters after, then:
chapter 4: maybe it's the way she looks at me, with those big brown eyes that seems to see right through me.
.
.
after another 2 chapters again, then:
chapter 6: claire's big blue eyes stare at me with something like shock, her lips parting.

the heroine is an alien who can keep on switching her eye color as and when she like it?? i mean, come on~ readers aren't that stupid to not notice this.

overall, i think the book is a waste of time to read. sorry to say that i'm the minority her despite the good reviews.

A charming feel-good novel 4*
Claire and Gray find each other in this novel as they are exactly what the other needs. She is a lawyer on the move from a toxic relationship back to the dilapidated cottage her late grandfather left her. Enter handyman Gray to do the renovations on the cottage. Their easy rapport leads to the revelation of Claire’s desire to have a child and things escalate from there as Grayson offers to become the baby-daddy. Though it starts with a contract, their relationship develops into a much deeper connection. Gray is agonizing over how to tell a pregnant Claire about his criminal past, quite rightly, as she hits the roof. Oddly enough she gets over his revelations much faster than I feel is realistic. The author’s character development and description, her appropriate use of English, as well as her thorough handling of the protagonists’ emotions and insecurities, make this novel a feel-good enjoyable page-turner, that I am more than happy to recommend to others.

2 stars.

I’ve read literally hundreds of romance books in the past 2 years so maybe my bar is set too high. But I found this to just be “meh.”

The characters were cookie cutter standard personalities with nothing particularly unique to them at all. It made absolutely no sense to me that Grey offered to be the baby daddy 5 seconds basically after meeting Claire, the timeline flowed oddly to me, the character point of view switched so frequently (near the end, sometimes even from sentence to sentence) that I could barely keep track (this is the one thing that probably annoyed me the most throughout the book), and the storyline was utterly predictable.

The dialogue and interaction between the characters was not particularly engaging, and the sex scenes felt so repetitive I was skimming through them by the end.

I would not recommend this book.

Gray and Claire are a cute couple. I love how they are able to lift each other up and how they work on themselves too. I love their chemistry. I like their connection to each other and through Claire's grandpa and even his cabin. I like the low drama. 3.5 stars.

fast and fun

Clair gets more than a handyman when she calls on Gray to do the work on the cabin her grandfather left her. Gray wants more than the contract he signs. But will their pasts hanging over their heads make them lose everything that they could possibly ever have, need or want? Fast and fun read.

I really enjoyed this book. Nothing complicated just a contractor and a heartbroken girl find each other and with a few hiccups to make things interesting it becomes a great story. Highly recommend this book

Beautiful story. A woman looking to start over and a man hiding from the past. Meet over a family cabin just inherited. He helps her with self-esteem and she makes his dreams come true.

I did not DNF the book. I actually managed to finish it, although I must admit I only glanced through the last few chapters.

The story is okay-ish, although kind of bland.

But I am very sensitive to inconsistencies and I caught too many to my liking…

She wanted a baby, found a guy who was willing to do the job, they hit it off and everything worked.

Other than that, there wasn't much of a plot, but a lot of descriptive sex.

After the loss of her grandpa, Dave and the break up of her long time relationship, Claire decided to move back to the cabin her grandpa left her in Fern Hollow. She worked as a corporate attorney so money was not a problem, but she wanted a family. First things first, the cabin needed reevaluating badly. It was falling apart at the seams. She got the name of Gray Cooper from some construction workers at the local diner. Turned out, he was a good friend to her grandpa so he agreed to help her out with the renovations. The second day, he works on the cabin, they agreed to go on a date for drinks afterwards, she gets to telling him about what brought her back home. She had been in a relationship with this guy, but he did not want to marry, and she wanted a child so she drew a contract up that any child they had would be her entire responsibility. She even tried procedures without any luck. All this guy was about was derogatory comments to Claire cutting her down as a person to the point, she felt city life was not for her anymore. That was when Gray started, he would be happy to make a baby with her. She drew the contract up that would change both their lives. A fun story with a couple of exciting surprises that might make you laugh.

Finding Everything They Want . . .

Claire Sawyer, a Portland attorney, desperately wants to have a child and can’t seem to get pregnant. She decides to move back to Fern Hollow where her grandfather had left her a mountain cabin that needed some work done. Meeting the handsome handyman Grayson Cooper, she hires him for the work on the cabin. Admitting to him why she had come home, he surprises her by offering to impregnate her no matter how long it takes. They even have a contract drawn up to keep things on the up-and-up.

In such an intimate situation, it’s impossible for Claire and Gray to hold back their feelings. Keeping things at a business level just won’t work as they get to know each other and begin to fall in love. Will they seek a permanent relationship together? Or will they be okay to walk away once the “job” is done?

Baby Contract

Amazing short story of finding love when you least expect it.
It is all to frequent that a person who you think loved you only to find out that the person is just stringing you along until someone better comes along.
When you do find the next best thing since sliced bread, hang on to him/her tight.
