This was a good book, told in first person POV by Thea and leaves you with a HEA. I do wish we could have seen Spencer’s POV as well. The story has a great potential to be something great, there were just a few to many things that I personally didn’t like or got confused on.
I loved Thea as a nanny. You can clearly see her love for children. I do feel like Thea was showing the age difference her and Spencer. She was very repetitive about her history with her ex, school and the money she was making being lost if things didn’t work out. But she never planned or thought about what she would do career wise if that were to happen. I do love that she stood up to Spencer and showed maturity when the conflict arose, making Spencer see things in his son’s eyes.
I didn’t really see the “Billionaire” in Spencer, more like a man in a higher position that can afford nice things and pay his nanny well. He was so hot and cold towards Thea and I didn’t really feel their connection except on Thea’s end since that seemed to be all she really focused on. It was almost like he decided that he was gonna get her in the bedroom so he wined and dined her and then he was cold after. Then when he felt the urge again or when he finally saw that Thea did have a backbone a few times and wasn’t the shy child version of herself but a take no crap adult, he was was sweet and romantic.
There really was no timeline either. I got confused a lot with this. When it was more descriptive of what had already happened and Thea was reflecting; she would always say “as the days passed” or something to that effect, but then in the same chapter, she was talking about how she had only been working two weeks. Then the next chapter it had been A month or more of her working. Then she would describe something that happened and when she woke up a couple of days had already passed but she didn’t make it clear that the days had passed.
Through all of that, I did still enjoy the book and I do plan to read more of Brooklyn Cox’s story. As a new author, I know that she is just getting in the groove and figuring out things out. For this being her third book published to Amazon, she is doing a great job of things. With a little more tweaking, I can definitely see her going far as an author and I applaud her for being brave enough to share her work with the world.
