A ghost of my past haunts me already, so running into another in the same graveyard where it all began is almost more than I can stand.
Almost.
So why the hell did I bring him home?
While offering restitution to ghostly memories, Shen meets a man who not only haunts his past, but craves his present, and promises to disrupt his solitary, sorrowful future. With his help, Shen struggles to remember events leading to a tragic death, while his ghostly past threatens to destroy them both.

I am not sure what to say about this one. I liked the writing and the story. It is 48 pages so I read it in one sitting and it was a lot more emotional than I was expecting. I never cried but there were several parts that made me pretty sad and I almost wanted to take a break but told myself to man up and keep going.
It was pretty mysterious overall and you just kind of learn more information as you go and I liked all of that and it kept me reading but by the end I wasn't sure how I felt about the main character, Shen.
I don't want to give any spoilers but the only character that felt really developed was Chase. He was the one I felt emotions for and the character I wanted to hug and just wish things were better for him.
While the MC and the love interest I felt like I knew nothing about.
As a short story, this one is pretty intriguing. At first, when Shen visited the grave of his friend, Chase, and there this mysterious guy he seems to be familiar with, I'm trying to get the context. Who is this guy? What is his relation to Shen and the dead young man? What has happened between them. And I think Ms. Veleno keeps the mystery perfectly well, untill the whole story is revealed (which includes an appearance of a ghost, but bear in mind that this IS a Hallowe'en theme, so paranormal element is expected); and it's quite emotional. It's a story about guilt, salvation, and love ...
Such a difficult book, because the person I really felt the most for was dead. Ahhh, Chase. He was such a sympathetic character, and the feeling of wanting him happy obviously couldn't happen, was too late for him. Shen and Diego, well, their miscommunication was their own. The book was a little confusing at points, if only because the beginning makes it seems they are strangers, when in fact they are not. It's a paranormal haunting, and sad at times.
