There are just SO many good things about this book! I loved the steam, and the wrestling of egos between the characters. Too bad law enforcement I've met haven't quite stacked up next to Cole. There was such wit

"Yep, they think I'm a whack job."

"Oh my God, save a horse, ride a cowboy."

"That's what you said before, and then you tried to eat me!"

"Where was Neo when you needed him?"

"If this door opens and Tommy Lee Jones is on the other side, I'm going to freak the fuck out."

That last one always gets a chuckle out of me. I was thoroughly enthralled in the world and characters created. I've read in other reviews that Mia put some readers off... but maybe I identify too well with her abrasive personality. I felt right at home with her. Her mother was too funny!

And one must not forget that by the end of the book, there will be the inevitable change of panties. Trust me, it's more than worth the read... and the change of panties.

"Mia was sure her panties were going to fall to the floor, willed there by his commanding stare."

Wow, did I love this book! It had an interesting concept right from the beginning. Tina Carreiro has created a unique paranormal world in Power of the Moon. From the first chapter you begin to ask yourself, “What is Mia?” Is she a succubus? Is she a psychic? And as the story progressed and her power grew I couldn’t help but flip the pages eager to find out. And when I did, it wasn’t at all what I expected.

Although the world building and concept are interesting, it’s the characters that kept me engaged. I really liked Mia, she had some issues, but I loved watching her work through them. Cole was a sexy alpha male and what I liked most about him was that he pushed Mia. He felt protective of her, but still recognized the strength within her and pressed her so she could grow and learn to protect herself. And boy did she ever, Mia was awesome.

Even the secondary characters were great. Mia’s mom was probably one of my favorites. I absolutely loved the fact that she was involved in Mia’s life and accepted whatever situation was thrown at her—often with complete and utter aplomb. I laughed aloud when Mia recalls a time when she was ten years old and her mother tucked her into bed saying, “Hey, do you ever feel like you're being watched when no one is around? Well if you do, don’t worry. It’s just a ghost. The guy who owned the house before us died on the couch. He’s harmless, Goodnight now.” Don’t you just love her?

Mia and Cole’s relationship is packed with sexual tension. For those who enjoy the buildup, Power of the Moon does not disappoint. There is an instant, sizzling attraction between the two, but still, Mia fights it to her last breath. She struggles with her feelings, she fights Cole and she fights her own fears and doubts, but the struggle makes it all the more satisfying every time he tears down a brick from the wall surrounding her heart.

The only criticism I have for this book is that I have to wait for the sequel. I’m impatient and I can’t wait until the next book is released to see what happens next. I definitely recommend Power of the Moon to anyone who likes paranormal romance.

There were many elements of Power of the Moon that were quite original and daring. As a reader, I loved the unpredictable plot directions. There were some execution problems here and there but they were not deal breakers. I thank Ms. Carreiro for giving us this story from multiple perspectives. If Miakoda was telling the story, I would not have made it through. I grew to love Mia but it wasn’t until well after the 50% mark. Cole on the other hand won me at ‘Hello’.

Without hesitation I can say the highlight for me was Cole. I can’t say I have encountered many heroes that came so close to killing their heroine on multiple occasions. Mia had my respect every time she let him get close to her. The back-and-forth sexual tension between Mia and Cole was torture but I liked the restraint Ms. Carreiro exercised by making the characters and readers wait for the love to become legit. By the time all was said and done, I wasn’t sure I wanted Mia to stay with Cole as he was unstable. On the other hand….Mia and Cole were downright combustible. I enjoyed the way Ms. Carreiro made these odd characters fit together. I wondered more than once if Mia should hookup with Cole. As a matter of fact, I still think it’s possible he could lose it and kill her. For certain, loving Cole and taming him are unrelated. Ms. Carreiro was quite bold building sharp edges into Cole’s character and the vampires in general. Even some of the good guys gave me pause more than once as their homicidal nature got the best of them.

The story is dark. A little too dark at times. I felt the overall story could have benefited from some more comic relief. There is a large supporting cast of characters whose moods were always set at aggressive and hostile. The growling and cryptic comments got tiring at times. The vampires were not the only teeth and claws going bump in the night but the vampire bad guys were exceedingly nasty providing unapologetic bloodshed and mayhem. The story begins with Mia following their trail of death without a clue she was dealing with something paranormal. Mia’s search leads to more than what happened to her friend. She discovers vampires are real and that she can repel vampire glamour. She can also see their aura so she knows what they are. That’s just the tip of the iceberg because Mia turns out to be so much more than she even imagined. Ms. Carreiro’s vampire mythology was rooted in the Native American culture which is a rare direction. I felt it was quite extraordinary. The same goes for the puzzle of Mia, well done.

From a creative standpoint, it’s 100% 5 stars but some of the execution problems irked me too much so I am going with 4. Like I said, not deal breakers, it’s just that a few times I did not like the way the perspective changed without warning or the redundant use of the word ‘control’. One of my pet peeves is the use of incomplete conversations to build intrigue. Mia was good about seeking answers from Cole and anyone who would listen but the answers were always interupted or delayed. Occasionally, I had to read something twice like a fight scene where Mia was grabbed from behind while she was lying down. When all is weighed and measured, this is a good book with a real ending. I’m a fan. I will continue to read the series just to see what Ms. Carreiro does to Mia next but mostly because Cole is hot and dangerous.

Meet Mia, she is haunted by visions, she sees dead ppl, and work part time at a mortuary where she sits in the cemetery eating he dinner talking to the dead. Mia is fun, morbid and I really enjoyed reading her story.

Then we have Detective Cole Barnett, what can I say smoking hot, HOT Vamp with a badge. He is a no fuss kind of man, who is not up for any kind of stupid behavior. He has a past that is heavy on his shoulders but he is not set back by it.

 photo 3116413_zps6f445112.gif

I absolutely loved this book, the plot line was awesome. The world building was really good, it was a bit morbid and cool and I loved that. Mia is pretty enterprising and it is a fun ride to tag along on. I did have a couple things that bugged me a little, the I am afraid of you got old pretty fast. Come on, you should see that he is not that scary right, he does everything right and it is still not enough.
The book was steamy as hell, the sexual tension was sky high. I loooooved the elevator scene here, I won’t say more but Oh My. Over all I would have liked some intercourse earlier in the book. I am drawing a little on the star for that and the: I am afraid of you thing.
But I really enjoyed the book, the story was great, Mia is awesome, Cole is super-hot and I liked him a lot.

 photo G4_zpse3f2985c.gif

This is a great new Urban Fantasy series that I am going to follow, for an UF it has a lot of sexual tension. The POV shifts between Mia and Cole and I actually liked it very much it was seamlessly done and different from other books in the same genera. I just hope the next book in this series is out soon? Pretty please? Because I want to get my hands on it.

I give this book 4,5 stars

My Review: Power of the moon is for adult readers (sorry younglings) that being said...
O.M.G what a story! From the first page Tina had me hook, line and sinker I just didn't want to put this baby down. What a ride this story takes you on, let me tell ya it's a ride i'll be taking again and again. *winks* If you want your book full of wild, hot, gotta have you now, can't live without you passion, and the thrill of an awesome adventure with twists and turns that keep you on the edge of your seat, a book that'll have you clinging on every word till the very end then this book is for you.

Miakoda Starr or as she likes being called just plain Mia (M-y-a) can see and speak to the dead, she also has dreams about what's to come and what is happening at that moment. She doesn't like anyone knowing about her powers. Mia had a run in with a scary man glowing eyes and that's how she meets Cole Burnett a gorgeous hunk of a detective who has a huge secret. The passion between them is so strong it'll curl your toes, two words - "Elevator Scene" it had me in a puddle on the floor *fans face* phew it's getting hot in here again. *winks* Will Mia's fear tear them apart? Or will passion conquer all?
I recommend this book to all adult paranormal romance readers, go get your fangs wet! *winks*

WOOT WOOT !!! What a book , it has left me completely speechless and breatheless !! Wow . i'm still struggling to gain my composure . Power of the moon really hit the daylights out of me .. Such a powerful , mesmerizing and astounding read .

Lets start off by talking about the cover . Simple yet attractive , its totally insync with what the story is all about . But to understand its meaning , you have to read the book , duh! with did you expect !!! Anyways , i believe that's Miakoda ( or Mia pronounced as My-a )on the cover with the moon behind her * a total spoiler if you can read between the lines * with her beautiful blue eyes . Loved the cover . Have to admit , it was the name and the cover that really compelled me to read this book .

Things that i totally loved about this book : E-V-E-R-Y-T-H-I-N-G !!! Not a single moment of disappointment or boredom at all .. The book had me hooked right from page 1 , when we meet Mia and get to know what she is all about . Believe me , the girl has gots a lot of things going on . She can see Aura's , See - hear - feel dead people around her and many more ! Enter's Cole Barnett , the Adonis like super duper smashingly hot Detective ,investigating a case that Mia unwillingly becomes a part of . Cole is instantly attracted to Mia and so is she , but what she doesnt know is that this likelihood to a stranger would send her into an unknown world of darkness and light , which will not only bring out her hidden strengths but also expose her to beings she thought never existed .

The characters in this book were superbly crafted ! Everyone had some uniqueness to them , thus making them perfect in their own way . Buuuut i need to talk about the two most important and main characters in this book .. Mia and Cole !! OMG , What an amazing pair !!! Their chemistry was like a house on fire ! Mia was completely unpredictable for me . I could never predict what her next set of action would be . Her mind would consider certain things , but she would eventually end up doing the complete opposite . I loved it . Also , at times she would be this scaredy cat , the next a fearless lioness !! She was just A.M.A.Z.I.N.G ... And Cole * oooh la la * , i'm hundred percent positive , book boyfriends would definitely be the death of me .. I'll never find them in reality . Cole is just sooooo HAWT !!! The man definitely knows how and when to push the right buttons . He is strong , smart and over possessive !!! I cant even count the number of times his head shouts " MINE " whenever he feels or sees Mia in danger !! I loved the whole sexual tension between Mia and Cole .. It had so many elements to it . Love , lust , fear , excitement , pain etc .. Definitely the highlight of this book .

I really enjoyed Tina Carreiro's fantasy world and enjoyed her story telling technique . It was a perfect blend of romance , mystery , thrill and action . It also had a nice humour added to it thanks to Mia , she was definitely high on sarcasm . I cant wait to read the next book " Covet of the moon " in this series !!
Note : Power of the moon is not a YA , Its definitely for adults * Fans self * Too hot to handle at times !! ;) .. Dont miss this out , you wont regret riding this one !

Entertaining and exciting, POWER OF THE MOON is the best paranormal panty ripper I have read in a very long time!

It is no secret that the moon holds special powers and influences in many aspects of our daily life. Miakoda Starr is different from all the others and has come to accept that she cannot escape the power she possesses. Instead of embracing her gifts, she secludes herself from others to avoid the ridicule that is sure to accompany their attentions. Mia is not exactly sure what she is, but she knows it is not normal to have the ability to tell when death is coming for someone and she knows it is not normal to be able to read a person's aura like the average person reads a street sign.

In an attempt to save a homeless man from certain death, Mia finds herself in the middle of a paranormal standoff that has been brewing for more than a century and she has to learn how to embrace the power of the moon in order to battle the evil that lurks in the darkness.

Imagine a life where you hold the power of the moon within you – you can control things on Earth much like the moon does. Detective Cole Barnett is controlled masculinity personified. From the first moment he meets Mia, he feels the gravitational pull and knows she is meant for him, but Mia has been alone for way too long to succumb to his charm and good looks without a fight – she refuses to believe in love at first sight. Cole is virtually invincible when it comes to everything except for Mia. He has a body of steel and the patience of a saint, but she tests his self-control every second they are together. Mia holds the power and she really makes him work for it!

POWER OF THE MOON is a full-length novel with a unique plot and well-developed characters. Unlike so many of the paranormal reads of today, POWER OF THE MOON forces readers to beg for a little nookie and I love that! Tina Carreiro does a magnificent job drawing out the sexual tension, really giving the reader something to look forward to as opposed to jumping straight into the sack. If you are craving a great paranormal read, then you should definitely check out POWER OF THE MOON—you are sure to be sucked in from the very beginning!

The blurb alone doesn’t do this book justice: believe me!! It contains a lot more goodies that I’m sure will have you frantically flipping the pages and just waiting for those internal fires within to ignite. lol.. A compelling storyline, with depth and creativity that any parnaormal junkie will enjoy .

Power of the moon is filled with lots of kick arse action, suspense, erotic encounters ** waggles eyebrows*, passion, sexy hot vampire, unique storyline and a concept well and truly of its own. Passion that will make your spine tingle and your toes curl and your blood race but to boot a compelling storyline that will have you hooked within the pages. I read this in one sitting!

It reminded me of a roller coaster ride, initially at first a tad slow to take off, but this giving us the momentum for the book and story to start, after that every page and chapter was a turner, every turn something new became about ! Until the end has you grasping at your reader or book frantically flipping just to get to the end to find out.......................

Tina created an array of great characters, both secondary and main, sucking us into a vat - and moments with Mia and Cole that I’m sure you won’t be able to surface from. Mia putting a wall up and adjusting to the new be comings about, and Cole never giving up!! I loved his persistence and cheeky ways!! Honestly in the end I was going to push Mia aside and just get it over with ** grins **.

Cole is one of those characters Im sure you will be left swooning after. Torn and damaged but with a love and heart that needs to be healed. ** sigh ** Tina created her characters well, defined them and described them well, giving them spunk and character traits of there own.

The electricity between Mia and Cole was toe curling and made your hairs stand on end...! SIZZLIN !!! geesh ! Im not sure if it was me if Id be able to stay so darn patient !! lol.

A compelling storyline, with equal amounts of action, suspense, intrigue, passion and of course ** the loving **... I think my heart was racing with Mia in that Gravesite lol... Ok, it’s got erotic moments!! Believe me... your reader will be wafting with steam!! ((I like my reads a little steamy at times and Tina has definably boiled the kettle with this one))

I won’t go into the storyline, as there are a fair few reviews that have given insight to what the story is about. If you after something to send your pulse racing, that will keep you baited till the end then Power of the Moon is for you! A paranormal romance that will not only knock your socks off but have you drawn into a world you may not be able to escape from.

I eagerly await book 2 !!!

Why oh why did I read this book? I normally try to keep away from reading a book series with only the first book published since I don't want to go crazy having to wait for the second installment if I really like the first book.

In my foolishness, I went ahead and read this book thinking I would be ok since I don't really care for vampire books. Wrong! Wrong! Wrong! Thanks ever so much Tina for sending me on my way to crazy town..

My sanity has long left me and now I'm hearing fricken voices in my head! I rather enjoyed being sane, and now I have no clue how long I have to wait for the second book to be able to reign in my sanity once again.

You suck Tina, pun intended! lol

In all seriousness, I thoroughly enjoyed your book and I am eagerly awaiting the second installment.

I really love this book, and that's coming from a person who didn't really expect to love this book.:)
I was familiar with the author and enjoyed her writing style, but I'm also not a huge fan of romance, so I figured I'd like the story and that's about it. Ha!
If there is one thing I cherish in reading, it's when I'm proven wrong, and in this case I was proven dead wrong. I'm not even sure I can honestly say I'm not a fan of romance anymore. I believe I've been converted, and that was no easy task.

Minimal spoilers, because I think readers deserve the full effect. We have Mia, and I adored her immediately. She's not out looking for a man or a soulmate, but she's also not one of those innocent young women with wide eyes and zero life experience. Far from it. She's tough, she smart, but still flawed and deeply vulnerable on an emotional level. She works two jobs, one at a mortuary, and she's the kind of person who eats her lunch in a cemetery and talks to headstones. Crush on Mia.

She ends up in a bit of trouble, and meets Detective Cole Barnett. Another well-rounded character, this one with a uniform and a great body. He has his own demons, and also has one of the coolest jobs I can imagine. He's a cop, but he's also a vampire, and suffice it to say those two things are far more compatible than I would've imagined. The stealth organization, the secret underground of Sector 13, is probably my favorite part of the story. Crush on Cole. :)

The relationship develops at a pace I'm not used to witnessing in paranormal romances, and I think this is how I was hooked. It's not an instant love thing, not at all. Attraction can only go so far, and the very real problems with a vampire and human relationship is explored, as well as the personal struggles within the characters. It's push and pull, ebb and flow, sometimes to the point of frustration for me as a reader, and for the characters, too. I found that so refreshing, and the honesty and fear and trepidation was handled remarkable well. Superb, really.

Another treat is the omniscient Point of View. Most of the para-romance books I've read are first person, almost always from the view of the female protagonist. While I don't have a problem with that, I have felt cheated at times. I want to get into the mind of other characters, especially supernatural characters, and I finally got my wish this time :) The flow of dialogue, the way the transitions between Mia and Cole's views were handled, was great. I felt like I was getting the whole story, and it didn't detract from the mysterious qualities of the characters. In fact, I think knowing the internal struggles of Cole as well as Mia, enhanced their relationship. Loved it.

I can't get into plot details too much, because there are so many little twists it would be hard for me to stick with my no spoiler policy. But there is plenty of action, plenty of heat coming from the slow-burn between Mia and Cole, great revelations and surprises, and a very satisfying ending. Even though this is part of a series, the story still stands alone. There's not a rage-inducing cliffhanger at the end.

Five stars, highly recommended.

Review by Ollie for bittenbyparanormalromance

There was something in this storyline about a young woman who has always felt different and misunderstood and a vampire who senses that she is the one he has been searching for to fill the void in his undead life that captured me.

This is the first book in the series and I can't wait to read the next one! When a book is able to keep me so glued to the pages that it keeps me up past my bed time and I find myself thinking about the characters and the situation they are currently dealing with during the middle of the day then I know it is a great indication to me that this is a great book.

There is so much happening in this book that it is difficult to know where to begin to describe what makes it fabulous. Lets start off with the characters Cole and Mia. The author does an amazing job in creating characters that are not only so well described that you can visualize them so clearly in your mind, but with personalities with such depth and emotions you feel that you truly know them and connect with them on a personal level.

What can I say Cole is a damn sexy vampire who is so hot to look at and so damn charming that he can make a woman have an orgasm just by looking at her.

Mia is a woman who has an unusual gift that makes her different from everyone else and based on her past experiences in relationships it makes it almost impossible for her to give herself completely and put her trust in others.

What brings these two together is a series of usual deaths that Mia has accidentally learned is the work of vampires. The next thing Mia finds out is she is being brought into a world she never knew existed and a passion she doesn't know she can give into. The intimate scenes between Mia and Cole are intense, teasing and makes you wish you were the one in Cole's arms.

This is an action packed novel that will have you glued to the pages and a tempting, teasing romance that will have you panting. This is a book that will please both urban fantasy and paranormal romance fans. While reading this book I felt it had similarities to being a cross between Charlaine Harris' Sookie Stackhouse series and Jeaniene Frost's Night Huntress series. It had elements of a young woman who is an outcast for being different due to her unusual gift and her inability to having meaningful relationships. She is brought into a world that humans don't know exist where some vampires are the good guys trying to protect the balance in both worlds.

At the end there is a preview to book 2 which continues where book 1 left off and it left me screaming because I needed to know what was going to happening next.

Power of the Moon
by
Tina Carreiro

All I can say is wow! I have not had the honor in reading work by author Tina Carreiro before Power of the Moon. I found this book to be one of the best books I have read in the vampire genre in a very long time. Yes I consider the 'vampire' as a genre as far as I am concerned because it deserves to stand on itself even though it is paranormal.
I found that I could not tear myself away from Power of the Moon from the very first page. I found myself experiencing many emotions and frustrations with the characters Cole and Mia. Just when I thought their 'relationship' if you want to call it that, was going in a certain direction FINALLY, something happened and it went the opposite. I found this happened due to Mia's past experiences with relationships and the way she was betrayed and mistreated. And as if that was not enough, Mia had a special secret she tried to keep covered up when it came to an ability she never talked about because she was afraid people would look at her a freak. Little did she know this secret would turn into a life saving and life altering ability that would change the way she looked at not only life, but herself.
This book had me on the edge of my seat right up till the end, and I mean to the very end, not knowing if love would prevail or not. And that dear reader is where I am going to leave it because I want you to be as engrossed and addicted to this book as I was . I cannot wait for the next book in the series. Tina Carreiro shows wonderful imagination and creativity and to all of you Vampire/Paranormal lovers out there, it is a MUST for your collection. I do not have a problem giving this juicy, saucy, seductive book five stars! And yes it is seductive, and it is not for kids! So, get your copy asap!!!!!

Power of the Moon is one of those books that really shocked me. I believed I would like it, but I didn't know just how much I would like it.
So as we start out on this intriguing tale, we meet Miakoda...aka Mia...and we find out quickly that she is a dynamic character. Mia has visions and is really able to understand the dead through these visions. But, truthfully, this power is really just the tip of the iceberg on the unraveling journey that we take with Mia. Beginning with just a little bit and ending with soooo much information that you are still sitting back trying to consume it all days after you have finished the book is exactly what I am talking about. And this is just about our main heroine Mia...
Let me introduce to the heartthrob of our tale...Cole Barnett...and OMG...he is one of those characters that you just love to read about. He is hot, sexy, smart, broody, commanding...I mean, just WOW!! And now, put him and Mia together...EXPLOSIVE!!!
So, the tale has begun and our main characters have met...we are now on the twisty twurvy turmoil that these two cause. SO much is happening in their world that trying to develop a relationship is trying. Not to mention that both have baggage that entering in to a new relationship is somewhat hazardous. But, the instant bond and constant trouble that these two happen to find themselves in bring emotions and pasts up front and center.
Will they be able to solve the problems that are causing life and death decisions for them?
Will they be able to succumb to their passion and strong connection to embark on a relationship that can be out of this world?
Well, if you want to know these answers, you are going to have to read the book. Filled with hold on to your seat action, nail biting suspense, and a blooming hot sexy romance, Power of the Moon is a book you don't want to miss out on...

wow this book was a very fast sit on the edge of your seat read for many different reasons. this is a sexy and I mean sexy action packed read that will leave you wanting more. especially more of cole (dayum) (yummy).

mia is special even though she does not she it that way for a very long time. she can see auras of people around her even the dead. and when she tries to help a homeless man she has grown fond of she is thrown into a world of creatures she did not even believed are real. while trying to save art the homeless man she stares down a vampire that now wants to kill her. trying to figure everything out. she falls in love with cole a vampire cop. she struggles with trust with cole throughout the whole book. but only because she has been hurt so much in the past that she has built up a brick wall around her heart. cole is patient though and he helps her break that wall down. ladies this is a must read. it will have your blood boiling. keep a spray bottle of cold water close or be prepared to take cold showers. you are going to need to do one or the other. cole is yummy. tina gives great description throughout the whole book. tina is going to leave you wanting book 2 like now. I know for me it is going to be torture waiting for COVET THE MOON.

also ladies I was told by tina on twitter that a fabulous lady on goodreads named dana is working on cloning cole lets hope she is successful and makes more than one.

Mia always knew she was a bit different but she was comfortable in the fact that the world was normal. And then suddenly it wasn't...there are things in this world that aren't normal and seeing her friend Art in trouble leads to an eyeopening that she really rather didn't happen. However, Mia's differences are what make her a target for good and evil. Meeting Detective Cole Barnett adds to the confusion since Mia has sworn off men.....

In Mia Tina Carreiro has created a good balance of snark, angst and temper. She is likable until you want to kick her in the butt about Cole...or sneak in and steal Cole from under her nose as she deserves LOL... Cole is a different type of alpha male and I love it. He knows from the moment they meet that Mia is the one for him..he only needs to convince her of that...A different twist on the whole "mine" thing. Usually the hero is either running away from his mate or completely over powering her. Cole knows when to back off and when to push his suit. This makes him a more complex hero than most PNRs offers. A great supporting cast that makes you hope we will see more of them in books to come. This book sets up what is sure to be a entertaining, different and thoroughly enjoyable series. Can't wait to read the next one Tina!

I give this book a solid 5 stars and will wait impatiently for book two to be out!

Reveiw on Power of the Moon by Tina Carreiro

Definatley 18+

I loved this book! I couldnt stop reading, it keeps you in suspence with the romance until the very end. I was sitting on the edge of my seat saying "Common!!!" Very well written and would strongley suggest this to all of the adult readers out there. It gives you the edge that you love with YA books, and the adult sence that we all sectretly crave in all YA books.

Mia is a young adult with unusal gifts, she can see dead people, can read auras and gets random visions of the future. She is completly fine being on her own, everyone she grew up with always thought of her as an outcast, but shes ok with that and has accepted that. Then she meets Cole, and she has feelings that she tries to block because of her own insecurities. She fights with her feelings about him, and descovers what he is, but can she accept it? Along with her discovery of Coles true nature she is learning about herself and her true powers. Can she handle it all?
Very sexy book. I absolutley was amazed by it. Favorite part is one word "Elevator".
*Note* This was my first reveiw EVER! I hope I covered all the bases everyone looks for :)

I loved it, the on again, off again feelings smouldering off of Mia towards Cole was FRUSTRATING, I wanted to slap her lol & make her see how he really was. I enjoyed this book so much, I couldn't put it down last night knowing I was so close to the end so I am slightly sleep deprived. The chemistry between them me glued to my kindle just waiting & wanting them to hurry up & get it on. Mia's mum made me laugh. I loved the beating drums oh & the reference to "Carrie", I love that movie. Cole is deliciously shagable & well, I'd let him bite me ;)
I can't wait for the next one & have already talked a friend into starting it today lol I am slowly becoming an "enabler" :) Now ladies, hurry up & give me book's number 2 in all your series. I think I read it in record time seeing I read at the pace of a snail. All I can say is, get, read it, discuss it NOW!!!

Tina's Power of the Moon, was a read that left my heart pounding from the first sentence. I can honestly say that Mia and Coles' story is only beginning and I can only hope that in book two, Mia and Cole show us some more hot sex, and a story line that both enthralls you, as well as astounds you.

Tina's voice is amazing, and she is a great story teller. Her use of descriptive language engages the reader so much so that you forget you are reading and you have to continue until your eyes close.

Vampires and hot sex is enough to make you re-read this little gem, and I can promise any hardcore paranormal romance reader that this book hits every spot on the way.

I highly recommend this book to you all, and I can only see BIG things happening for the foxy Ms. Carreiro.

Each time I read a novel featuring vampires I always have low expectations since reading the Twilight books but each book I've read since Twilight has managed to renew my faith in novels featuring vampires and Power of the Moon by Tina Carriero is another well written and highly entertaining book that sticks to the true nature of vampires and they most definitely do not sparkle. My favorite part of the story was the back and forth, love/hate relationship that Mia and Cole had going on.I devoured this book word by word and it will be a struggle for me waiting for the day that the next book in the series is finally released.

This book was so good...I know, I know...you wouldn't think I felt that way by reading my status updates. Tina did such a wonderful job telling the story of Mia's transformation from weak and whiny to strong and decisive. I enjoyed reading her personal transformation and the transformation in the relationship between she and Cole.

The character dynamics were interesting and diverse -- shifters mixed in with vamps -- and the story line was interesting.

One of the funniest moments in the story for me: the chainmail body suit. PRICELESS!

This book gets a resounding 5 stars from me.

This was a very good book. The world that the author has created is interesting and believable. The hero/heroine have great chemistry together and are likeable characters. Supporting characters are also well developed and the bad guys are worthy of the readers hatred. I am looking foward to reading more about Cole & Mia. I will never think of elevators in the same way again.

Sorry Kido's but this book is JUST for ADULTS!!!!

After trying to help a homeless man whose aura has him marked for death, Mia, is in more trouble than she knows. Soon she meets
Detective Cole Barnett. A man that shatters her world in more ways than one, and shows her a world of fear as well as desire.

My Review:

Okay so I open an email from a friend one day and she tells me I need to get in contact with Tina Carreiro about her book to see if she'd let me review it. So of course I did and I was so excited when she said yes and sent me an ebook!! I hadn't really heard anything about this book, all I knew was it was about Vampires. I was kinda nervous about reading it so It took me a couple days to even start it. Once I did I didn't want to stop!! I tried putting it down over and over but just couldn't!! It sucked me into another world that I didn't want to leave!! This book was so amazing, if I could give it more than 5 stars I SO WOULD!!!

Move over everyone Tina Carreiro is on fire and everyone is gonna get burned!! This book is by far the best book I have read this year or EVER actually!!! With Edward and Bella or Sookie, Bill, and Eric, yes there's passion but it's nothing compared to the passion between Mia and Cole!! I was amazed with the characters in this book and how you can almost immediately connect with each and every one of them. It's rare for me to be so satisfied with every aspect of a book, and let me tell you this book will have you craving for more!!!

Mia not wanting anyone to know about her powers has a run in with two men at work causing her to have to tell a room full of people about what she can do. Due to the situation with the two men she meets Detective Cole Barnett who also has a secret of his own! This book has everything you could want love, hate, sex, drama, secrets, and terror this book truly is SENSATIONAL!!!

With all of the love/hate passion between Mia and Cole it was like an emotional roller coaster taking you for the ride of your life!!! I definitely LOVE books that take you through different emotions and you actually feel them while your reading, like it's you not the character. This book does exactly that!! When Cole and Mia are in the elevator, Man oh man, is all I have to say about that!! *SIGH* The graveyard scene was by far the best out of all the intimate scenes in the book, it left me breathless!!!

What Mia can do is amazing! I don't really remember ever reading about a character that can do what she can so that was a nice change from the usual. Like a breath of fresh air. The way this story unfolds from her in her workplace to the dangerous and exiting events that go on is so exhilarating!! The passion these two characters have for each other is so intense. In some moments I was screaming in my head at Mia to just give in and let him take her...in others I just wanted to smack some sense into her and tell her not to let true love pass her by...and at one point I was yelling at Cole to quit fighting his feelings to comfort her, to not worry about what the others may think of him!! I was so mesmerized at how much I was into this book!!!!

Cynthia, Mia's best friend, is like the bff every girl wants!! Even with her boyfriend Kevin in her life she still makes time for "girls night out" and her bff. These two characters are also amazing. What Kevin does to save his true love is phenomenal!!

If you haven't read this book yet you NEED to!! It will take you for a ride of swirling emotions that you will love with every chapter!!

I seriously CAN NOT wait for the 2nd book to come out and read more about Mia and Cole!!! I'm so gonna buy this book when it comes out in paperback so I can relive this world over and over!!!!

I'm going with 2.5 stars. This is why:

1. Denial. Denial. Denial. The heroine, Mia, denies any and all positive feelings and instead chooses to torture herself by basing her decisions on fear. And these decisions? They always hurt somebody else, too. I don't want to read a story about a woman's attempt to sabotage her own happiness while simultaneously destroying the happiness of others. That's a bummer. Also, I'm pretty sure every single supporting character told her to stop running from her problems/emotions at some point in this book.

2. She got out of the car. When the big-bad-preternatural-being tells you to stay put, you should fucking stay put.
"But I'm strong and independent!" Not if you're constantly running away from the scary.
"I can take care of myself!" Against the numerous vamps that are ready to kill you when you can't even seem to stay upright on your own (o hi bella)?
"I don't have to listen to him!" Because you know so much more than the centuries old vampire that is trying, regardless of your attempts to stop him, to save your life?
"But I have powers!" That you can't even accept, much less control?

3. Tendency to go off half-cocked into suicidal situations. But wait, she's always saved by a sudden understanding of her powers! *sigh*

The plot is alright, I enjoyed the concept. But Mia pissed me off, acting like a child most of the time and a bitch the rest of the time. Very rarely was she likeable for me. On the other hand, I loooved Cole. He was what kept me reading. The two secondary lawmen, Raul & John, they were great characters, too. And I really thought I knew who the leak was, but I was pleasantly surprised to be wrong.

As for editing, I got a digital copy and can't assume that the same issues will appear in other formats. But in my copy, there were random quotation marks at the end of paragraphs. I kept having to reread to make sure I hadn't missed dialogue. It's not a big deal, but it was slightly annoying.

The other situation is not one I've come across before, so I'm not sure how to explain it. But from one sentence to the next, within a paragraph, we'd hop back and forth from Mia's to Cole's thought process. I understand revealing one character's thoughts and then revealing another's thoughts. But not in the middle of a paragraph. Suddenly I'm like "Why is Mia referring to Cole as "she"...?" Oh wait, that's Cole now.

THE SEX WAS HOT!! It was a little steamier than most of the PNRs I've read, but instead of making me wonder why this wasn't listed under 'Erotica', it just made me want a Cole of my very own. Loads of sexual tension and foreplay.

Rereading what I just wrote, I feel like I can summarize my feelings on this book in one sentence: I liked almost everything about this it except for the main character, Mia.

Stay tuned for review..finished this morning. This book is INCREDIBLE!

My review: the blurb above does this book NO JUSTICE! I will be honest. If you are a fan of The Blackdagger Brotherhood series, you have to read this book! I am dead serious!!! I loved this book so much. The story line is intense. It is such a page turner! I power read this book. I stayed up until 3:00am the first night and the second night I stayed up until....6:00am reading it! (I have to be at work at 7:30am).

Mia is an average young adult. She works a normal job at a gas station. She has become best friends with one of her co-workers. She lives every day like everyone else. Except...she has special abilities to see aura's, dead people and a few other special talents. Mia knows things about people that she should not. People shun her because she scares them. Mia does not realize how incredible her gifts truly are until she comes head to head with a very scary man. Mia is not sure where the strength came from to stand up to this man to protect her homeless friend but she used every ounce she could. The homeless man left on his own accord, so the police are unable to help Mia with her crazy story.

When Detective Cole Burnett shows up, Mia feels like fool. She is super surprised that he BELIEVES her story of what she THOUGHT happened in the gas station that night. Meeting Cole, Mia finds herself seriously attracted to him and scared out of her mind. What parallel hell on earth has she gotten herself into? Mia finds out that strange things DO go bump in the night, not everyone is who they seem, you never know who your friends and enemies truly are and you never really truly know yourself.

This book is an EPIC vampire story. If you are shaking your head because you are tired of vampire stories, you are missing out big time! I will NEVER get tired of Vampires. EVER!!! If you are a fan of Sookie/True Blood & Blackdagger Brotherhood and love the romance of Twilight...THIS BOOK IS FOR YOU! It is filled with love, hate, raw emotion, STEAMY sex and a scene that makes the song "Love in an Elevator" by Aerosmith play over and over in your head. Did I mention the passion and the steam? Seriously...this book causes global warming for REAL!!!

Tina has stated that the first print of her book is currently out. She is waiting for the second print to come out. Please stay tuned to one of the Tina's sites below of when you are able to get your hands on this incredible book!!

When Mia angers a man with weird glowing eyes trying to protect Art, her whole world spins out of control—an into realms she never believed existed. When the cops are sent to take her statement, after Mr. Glowing Eyes nabs Art from the gas station where she works, she isn’t expecting, tall, dark, and handsome Cole Barnett. He lights her up like no one ever has; and, aggravatingly enough, rejects him at all costs…..A big drag for me and the only thing in the book that I didn’t particularly like.

I understand the reasoning behind Mia’s continual rejection of Cole---there are many reasons; not all just because he is a vampire, and they are good and well developed reasons—but after a while I wanted to just choke her, bury her, and take her place inside the book. Everyone should be so lucky to have a man be so totally devoted to them, in love with them, and so very protective---all while being hotter than Hell ever dreamed it could be! (Don't get me wrong....My hubby is all those things....but sheesh Mia!)

As Mia develops through the book you get a good look at the powers she has always possessed. There is also the realization that she has been unaware of what she really consisted of. She gets tossed into a world that her mother would ramble about during the days of Mia’s youth. She is exposed to love, hatred, violence, and otherworldly creatures. Attempts on her life leave her exposed and vulnerable to things that she doesn’t understand but comes to realize. There is a small reference to Indian heritage, which seems to be quite the rage right now; although, I would have never thought to put them hand-in-hand with paranormal beings such as vampires. The passages are well placed, though, and helps put much of the story into perspective.

I love the reference to World of Warcraft: "Chainmail teddy, compliments of World of Warcraft--warrior geekdom--now all I need is some rage points and I'll have this vamp defeated." Love It!! I play WoW and have no problem admitting it :)

This is Book 1 in the Power of the Moon series. According to Tina’s website: http://tinacarreiro.com/index.php/pow... there will be 4 books in the series.

Please Note: This book contains "adult scenes."

Power of the Moon , by Tina Carreiro Thank god that this book had real vampires, not the wussy teen vamps but the hungry for blood, sexy, passionate, almost Anne Rice style vampires. (which is what I hold any vampire books up against) Detective Cole Barnettt is a strong sexy in control aged vampire that falls in love was slightly spooky Miakoda Starr (Mia). Mia can read auras, has visions and even has contact with the dead which is only lightly touched on. Mia gets dragged into having to help the police/FBI with a investigation which leads her to learning about other worlds of super natural sorts. All the while fight with here urges to open herself mentally and physically to Cole with very steamy and slightly frighting out comes.
I loved the story and am waiting on the next, also some of the details in the book where very well done such as the funeral home with the cremation oven. That said i did have a little bit of a hard time to get into the book there was a lot of description for the first two chapters that I had a difficult time getting into. The cover art seemed very pixely and also stretched to fit the space (but that may have been the look they where going for) but I felt it made the book look a little cheap and may deter people from picking it up, and the printing was very small but these are personal feelings and are not what is needed to be a good book. I would recommend this to any real paranormal/romance/Female Heroines lovers but no kids for this one it's for the grow ups.

Mia works two jobs at the gas station and funeral home. She keeps to herself because of the visions she sees and dead people she hears. Little did Mia know that her world would be turned upside down when two “thugs” come into the gas station and attack her and take a loyal customer away.

Detective Cole Barnett arrives on the scene and is instantly drawn to Mia. He works the night shift in special forces known as Sector 13; all vampires.

Mia doesn’t want to tell the detective everything that happened that night, because she doesn’t him to think she’s crazy, however, when she does, Cole realizes that she will be in danger if the vampires realize that she can control them with a hidden power that she never knew she possessed.

Power of the Moon was a powerful paranormal adventure. Mia’s struggle to trust was evident throughout the story, and it was a powerful struggle for that brick wall to be taken down literally brick by brick. Although Cole, has his own struggle to remain in control of being a vampire whenever he is around Mia. These two obstacles collide often, which leaves you in suspense for Mia and Cole to overcome and finally be together. Power of the Moon is action packed. The kind of action packed book that you can read in a day because you just can’t PUT IT DOWN. The evil vampires are after Mia. Mia learns that she has special powers, and, the power of the moon plays a more important roll than just an incredible title. Got your interest up? Good…read it.

I loved this book! It was a refreshing approach using some Native American elements in the story, which I enjoyed very much. The heroine, Mia, is not a whiny damsel in distress type, either, which was a big plus in my opinion. I liked that Mia developed her own powers..she's not all helpless when it comes to needing Cole to rescue her all the time, she can hold her own. The ideas the author used for weapons and 'wardrobe' were awesome. The way Mia learned more about the NA legend/heritage at the end was great, I'm looking forward to learning more in the next book for sure! :) I liked how Ms. Carrerio has the supernatural/human law enforcement task forces arranged as well. I'd also like to add that I am a Lab Tech who has worked in hematology, coagulation, pathology, and blood banking since 1995, and all of her technical stuff to do with blood and the ME office is really accurate. She really did a great job on her research! I am anxiously awaiting the next book in this series...

Tina Carreiro's debut novel is a breath of fresh air in the world of paranormal/vampire novels. Finally, after years of reading about Bella, Edward, Sookie, Stefan or Elena the readers have a chance to know completely new characters, and their mysterious and sexy adventures. The plot is exciting, the atmosphere of the novel is thick with sex, secret, drama and love. Each of those ingredients intertwine and mix to delight the readers and do not allow them to put the book away before they finish reading it.
The Power Of The Moon is a novel addressed entirely to the adult audience, so those of you worried it might be too pure and too delicate for their tastes may be relieved. It's erotic, dangerous and wild, and while reading it, you can feel the Moon's influence on you...getting stronger and stronger.
Bravo Tina, great job, don't let us wait too long for your next novel!
