I only wanted to read it for the essay on Ursula LeGuin's "The Left Hand of Darkness", and that was rather a disappointment. The author was so caught up in his own themes that he continually misgendered the character of Estraven, not even mentioning the premise of Gethenian sexuality until several pages in.
