Sea Surprise

Rate this book
Eel was ill. He did not wake up feeling very electric.
"Oh, drat!" he said grumpily. "I've lost my zap!"

An adorably funny undersea adventure for beginning readers

Poor Eel. Kate and Dave want to help their friend get his zap back. All they need is a plan-one that doesn't involve biting things, even though Dave's shark teeth are itching to chomp something.

With lots of help from the other sea creatures, the friends come up with the perfect way to jolt Eel's zap back into him. A surprise party is sure to do the trick! But the party starts off with a shock that no one expected.

What I loved about this book is that it is in small chapter chunks. The emergent reader will feel very proud and accomplished for reading a chapter book! There is also a nice range of possibly new vocabulary words...plankton, electric, anxiously, etc.

The plot is light but valid. Friends helping out a friend in need.

I will continue to recommend these books to patrons!

Cute adventure story about a mermaid, a shark and an electric eel which has lost his zap. The eel gets his zap back by getting hit by lightning--I'm a little nervous about anything which indicates lightning can be benign, but otherwise this is a fun book.

Read this short novel to my 3yo daughters about 3 times in the last week (they're into mermaids right now). Cute story of Kate the mermaid and Dave the shark on their quest to find Eel's missing "zap."

This is a short chapter book that is pretty silly, but was a fun book to read aloud. It's a nice book about friendship and is short enough to read at one time.
