Tom Walker just wanted a quiet getaway. But the lake has secrets. Dark ones. And now an innocent girl has gone missing. If Walker can't uncover the truth behind the mysteries in Soddy Daisy, the girl will never survive.
The second installment in the Tom Walker mystery thriller series grabs you by the throat and never let's go. And it's coming this June. Pre-order now!
Repeated self analysis and numerous times of self doubt made the “hero” less than believable and was, for me, a big detractor from the storyline. Good plot, but pretty straightforward — no twists, turns or surprises. I did read to the end, but it just isn’t a book I would recommend to a friend and I won’t be reading any more of the To Walker series. Overall disappointing.
Seemed like a lot of dialogue between Lawson and Walker was quite repetitious. They said and thought almost the same things after each action sequence.
Because yeah, realistically, this felt more like a 3-star read than a 4-star one, but I had such fun reading it. The pacing is great, as each chapter just spills right into the next without slowing down (much). I love the character moments, the comradery, the revelations, the fights and action. I'm too easily pleased with this series (so far anyway). There are flaws scattered throughout, little "cheat codes" of leaving things to be told in the background rather than in my face, but ugh, I can't overstate the fun I have. It's kinda annoying, if I'm being honest.
I'm getting far more attached to Tom Walker as a character than I have any business being. By far he's my favorite feature of this book. His dry wit, his passion, his confidence, his skill. I like his many moments of kicking butt and taking names, but also his many NEW moments of emotional turmoil and/or inner conflict. There were several moments of emotional weight from Tom this go around, and I appreciated the importance of them for his continual development. I mentioned before how very John Wick he feels, given his ability to survive seemingly unsurvivable situations and his ability to care even when it's difficult.
Ironically, though, Tom Walker as a character reminding me of John Wick is sometime what I have a problem with. Because as was my mild complaint for the first book, he's getting through many harrowing situations rather "easily." This wouldn't be so bad if he had marks to show for it, but in this story's case, not really. For one violent event, I was expecting him to have some bumps or bruises (or a missing chunk of face, given the description), but nah, he's fine. He's unscathed and no one even bats an eye. I get plot armor for main characters, but it's a bit much sometimes, and I find myself wishing there will be more believable danger.
Guess it'll take me reading the rest of the series to see if a John Wick-like character with Wolverine powers will be a regular occurrence, so lemme go on and get right onto the next entry. For my bits of highlights and commentary, click here.
Better than the first in the series so a 3.5 for me.
Tom Walker is house sitting on a lake in Tennessee. Towards the end of the first month there, a girl vanishes. At first, Walker tries to ignore it but is drawn in by the girl's 16 yr old brother Daniel. Of course, the local detective thinks he's a suspicious person (new face in town/early morning jogs/reclusiveness) but soon realizes Walker might be the only hope in finding young Amy and dealing with a secretive cult in the area for decades.
Bodies fall (lots)!. Snipers shooting anyone that Walker tries to question, detectives from previous disappearances are suddenly dead and as Walker gets closer, the head of the cult is a big surprise. (This seems to be the case now in both of the Walker series I have read- a surprise twist at the end).
Tom Walker finally is able to be himself, whoever that is? So he sets out to find himself and figure out what “normal” people do when they relax. But no, he just can’t leave trouble behind, or is it that trouble always has a way of finding him. Because he sure stepped in it this time. A missing girl, a cult and someone is trying to kill him! Not what I’d call relaxing but a great plot for a great read!
Tom Walker looks for some peace and quiet as he house sits a beautiful home on a picturesque lake in a small quaint town in Tennessee... Then everything blows sky high with a sex trafficking ring for pedophiles, kidnapping, murders, as well as blood sacrifices within an active Satanic cult...Oh well, so much for peace and quiet....maybe next week! A rip roaring enjoyable book!
It's a good book, almost 5* for me Walker starts off nice and relaxed and moves onto murderous whirlwind all within a couple of chapters What makes this book so good, is Walkers character development alongside the friends he makes along the way. I'm not usually one for deep and meaningful, but this is done cleverly and makes the whole story better for it I will be reading the next book immediately, so expect the next review in about 2 days
Bradley Wright always brings excitement and suspense. I don’t want to put the books down once I start reading them and I’m always waiting for the next one to come out, counting down. Thank you Bradley for your amazing gift and for keeping my dad (Tim Lawson) alive through your writing!! It’s truly unbelievable and so special.
Too many product placement plugs early in the book. Why? They added zero value to the story. In fact, they were annoying. Are these paid advertisements?
I thought there were more than a few loose ends in his story telling. It also seemed repetitive at times. Not sure I’ll bother to read book 3 in this series.
Wow what a novel. Bradley Wright has come up with a character Tim Walker who is amazing. I couldn’t put this book down. This is my 2nd in the series and I’m on to the 3rd. So captivating with all the chaos that goes around him where ever he goes. I enjoyed this book. Both had surprise endings.
The story was good, writing excellent, plot outstanding and ending terrific. But the phycobabble about Walker’s upbringing was repetitive. In the Ben Porter series, free on Kindle Unlimited, Ben doesn’t dwell on his past; he just uses his wits and brainpower to solve the problem!
Equating transgender children to satinists is unconscionable & then to single out Hollywood CA almost caused me to delete the book without finishing it. I did finish it though but did so by skimming the text as I was just too angry to pay much attention to the rest of the book. Needless to say, I won’t be reading anymore of this author….First time I have written a book review too.
this book was just as good as the first one in the series. I really like th way Bradley Wright composes his books with interesting characters. And there is always an unexpected twist in them them that i didn't see coming, which is really sweet. All in all, I am really enjoying the series so far.
This book was so good. Tom having someone to help him for a change. Tim being there for him and the humor they still managed to have with all the chaos going on. Some unexpected twists and turns. Lets just say, you never know about folks and what's in their hearts. I'm starting book 3 now.
Tom is an interesting character. Having been through hell since he was 15, it’s good to see the good man in him opening up. He has deadly skills that now he sees can help those in trouble and in pain. Looking forward to seeing who else he saves. Hope Tom stays true to the man he is.
Great read! Really enjoyed this one, ever moving action along with some self revelation for Tom Walker! Suspense, action, drama and laughs.....Bradley Wright does it again. Can't wait for the next installment in Blind Pass!
Great characters. Superb plot. Even better writing. Beautiful mix of action, affection, and redemption. This isn’t an “escape from” story … it’s an “escape to.”
This writer quickly became one of my favorites. I would recommend that you start with the Xander King series and then start the Tom Walker books. This book was a edge of your seat excitement. Lets just say that Walker and his new friend save the day, and just in time. Enjoy the ride.
Dog gone good read! What an adventure Wright puts his readers on. I kept thinking the sky was going to fall down on Walker’s head sooner or later with all the crazy he was involved with. I had fun reading the story, multiple plots and great characters. Get some for yourself!
There's only a couple books in the series an I've read them both. Overall I've enjoyed them. Good action, a tortured hero who does the right thing and a great plot twist in both books. I didn't see either of them coming. Editing is solid, and easy reading.
There are only so many times an unarmed man can fight and kill 3 or 4 armed men. This character seemed like something from a comic book. Then there was the surprise twist that really made no sense. Seemed like it was written by a bad AI program.
I picked his first book just because it was recommended by Kindle. GREAT novelist. Superb storytelling, strong characters and great plot. I never buy books. I purchased this novel.and am buying his next one. ENJOY
Just read the second Tom Walker novel & can't wait for the third! I've read all the Xander King books & here Bradley has introduced another Hero, who is very hard to put down. Very different but equally engaging. Thank you.
Walker is a character that you will cheer for as he uses his skills for good. Tim is another character you will want to meet in real life. The plot will make you wonder about humanity.
This story is fast paced, occurs in sleepy out-of-the-way places, not large cites, has a larger than life hero and an ending of reconciliation with a twisted past that the reader will not see coming.
This is by far (so far as I’m going to look for the next one immediately) the best in the series. To see Walker find his way was emotionally satisfying! A must read, highly recommend it.
In some ways this book and series reminds me of the Reacher books. I suppose that a lot of authors try to do something similar to Reacher. This may be an interesting version.
Thoroughly confused not sure where the author is doing with this character. Could have easily continued the story from book two but decided to go in a completely different direction.
