“The better I get to know men, the more I find myself loving dogs.” – Charles De Gaulle.
This book is an ode to all dogs and a treasure for all dog lovers. What a fabulous set of anecdotes it contains! You meet not just pet dogs but also army dogs, rescue dogs, stray dogs, and guide dogs. Their stories will make you laugh and cry and sigh. Some will shock you while others will generate anger. A few tales will leave you with a strange curiosity to know what happened next. The "Doggone Wonderful" section was my favourite, though I did love almost every story in this book equally.
As with every Chicken Soup collection, there are precious quotes at the start of every anecdote and a few cartoons peppered in between the sections.
The only thing I missed in this book was photos of the pooches in the stories. How I would have loved to put a face to the myriad canines who stole my heart with their behaviour!
If you are a dog lover, you will enjoy these stories of companionship and love. If you aren't a dog lover, you must read this book to know why you must become one!
Relish this in small proportions in between your usual books. It will add the right dash of happiness to your day.

I feel that this book was nothing short of amazing. It made me laugh, cry, scream, shout, and holler. I, as many people do, have an undying passion for dogs. Sometimes I think I can even hear their thoughts. This book, is one which I hold near and dear to my heart, and I do not intend on letting it slip away anytime soon. Of all the books in the Chicken Soup series, this is most definitely the most touching, the most beautiful, and the best written. I would like to personally thank each and every person who has ever read this book, and congratulate them on partaking of this glorious read. I, in fact have had quite a history with dogs. I used to be so scared of them, and if one came near me, I would become overtaken with nervousness and shut down completely. But as I read this book, each page seemed to melt away the fear I had of dogs, and be able to overcome my crippling fears. It was like a blow dryer taken to an ice cube. For each second that it is held to the ice, the ice melts away to reveal a clear puddle. This book turned my heart, and fear of dogs into a clear puddle of love and hope and joy. As I carefully flipped each page, I could almost hear the sound of those dogs who were written about barking, pawing, and barking some more :D. If you have not yet read this book, you really should consider donating some of your valuable time to it, because I guarentee, it will change your life forever, and you will be a different person after reading it. I know I am, and I have no regrets for reading this book. If I could say anything bad about this book, I would say that it was not long enough. I found myself wishing and wishing that the book might continue on and on forever. I could not put the book down, and I know that you will not be able to either. So during this holiday season, I highly recommend that you read this book, or give it as a gift to a friend or family member. It does, after all, make a grrrrrrreat stocking stuffer! Merry Christmas to all, and to all a good night!
Soooo last night I put two new books on my currently reading...and then picked this up instead haha. Who knows how my brain works? But as always, I did enjoy this style of book.
If you enjoy books about people loving their pets, then this series is for you. They also have all kinds of uplifting stories about everything and anything. Five stars.
I didn't have this in my collection so got it, but when I started reading it I remembered I have read it before. I like the Chicken Soup for the Soul books, but don't seem to remember liking it widely and don't want to read it again right now so giving it 4 stars and moving on.
Not once has a Chicken Soup book disappointed me. How could it? Each book is full with wonderful and true stories. And the quotes you can find in them! When I found this book in a 2nd-hand shop, I could not believe my luck. It costed me less than USD 2.00. And here in the bookstores each book costs around USD 15.00! It was my lucky day...
Perhaps not all the stories are WOW, but at least 90% are. They are sweet and emotional.
If the story was about a dog getting adopted, I was...
If it was about a sick dog where the family had to decide whether to euthanize it or not...
If it was about a dog who touched millions of hearts...
If it was about a stray dog and no one wanted him, except the writer of the story..
You get my point. Read it! Just look at the cover. Isn't the dog just cute? Doesn't matter the breed; they are wonderful animals.
All the stories were so touching! Some of them harder to get through then others. Not recommended reading while on vacation, so hard to have a dry eye! I’ll be home soon Miles!!
a nice read if you love dogs like i do. this is a "Chicken Soup" series. and if you are familiar with the Chicken Soup books. they are a bunch of little stories written by various writers some known and others unknown. this one is a sweet devotion about the dogs who were a part of their lives and what they meant to them. the book is broken down in different categories. I liked some stories more that others. i like to read the short stories sometime. the chicken soup series are nice if you like short stories.
I loved this book, it was amazing. I loved it because it is all about dogs, one of my favorite animals. It was also really good because it wasn't just one story like most books, it has a bunch of short stories. The short stories are all true and different people wrote them. I really liked this because i've never read a book like that and I liked that they were all real life stories that had actually happened to people. I also liked that each story was different, they each made you feel different emotions.
Cute, sad, funny, sentimental and most of all filled with adorable doggies ! As a dog lover, I truly enjoyed this collection of stories but I asked myself when will this "Chicken Soup For The ..." series end - if ever ? I suppose Jack Canfield is making too much money off this series to stop.
I love all of the Chicken Soup books. This one had me laughing out loud one minute and with tears rolling down my cheeks the next. These are heart-warming stories that will remind you, if you ever needed reminding, of how wonderful dogs are.
Personally, I thought the book was great. It is perfect for all ages and perfect for all animal lovers. I love how Chicken Soup always puts the perfect collection small stories and essays into a book. The book never gets old because each and everyone of the stories are all different. Most people might think all the stories are sad like Marley & Me but it isn't. There are funny stories, happy stories, touching stories, and so many more to be named! I also love how the book puts a comic in every now and then to go with previous stories. I would recommend this book for all ages and to all animal lovers from dogs, horses, and even to cat lovers. Again, this is a wonderful book with full of laughs inside of it. This book is great, I highly recommend it.

A lovely collection of stories and personal accounts of people who have loved dogs in their lifetime (who doesn't?) As they have served roles as friend or close family member, hero, healer or teacher of valuable life lessons, sometimes the best messengers of Love come with four legs and a tail. Poignant stories for anyone who has owned or loved a dog.
This book made me cry and laugh as well. I’m not a dog lover before but now I adore my only dog Bruno. He’s so loyal to me. Many memories made together. Now I couldn’t imagine life without him. This book helped me understand their behaviours.
I love dogs, in fact I have two dogs, Krissy and Abu. This book has so many good stories to tell. I hope you try this book, and promise you won't regret it.
