Meet Grumblebunny, the grumbliest rabbit on Misty Mountain Meadow, and his three super-sweet cousins, Cuddlemop, Sweetsnuffle, and Pretty. Everything is just lovely to these sweet rabbits: Even when Bad Wolf Peter snatches up all four bunnies for his soup, Cuddlemop, Sweetsnuffle, and Pretty look on the bright side-they simply adore the warm, steamy water in the soup pot. But Grumblebunny knows that being grumbly will get them out of the soup. Can he convince the other rabbits to toughen up and play along?
What a strange message - particularly coming from a minister - that sometimes it pays to be cantankerous and curmudgeonly rather than upbeat and cheerful . . . but it works, and I loved it!
One of my all time favorite children's books. Amazingly fun read aloud, with the opportunity to use many different silly voices. Grumblebunny is a smart but rather negative bunny that lives with his three overly cheerful cousins who are less than intelligent. Can Grumblebunny save his dim family members when they throw themselves in harms way?
The use of the word "stupid" makes me uncomfortable, when reading aloud to children in preschool. The story is about 3 cute bunnies and their grumpy bunny cousin. They get into trouble, and there you have it. One good thing about this book are the nice bunnies. The way they are drawn/ portrayed, is genius: like airhead, scatterbrained bunnies. VERY CUTE. The book was good but not something I would recommend, simply because its not my cup of tea.
Very funny, with rather weird-looking, somewhat distorted rabbits. But Grumblebunny saves the day, when he turns the taste of the wolf's rabbit stew sour.
The illustrations on this book were hilarious. Clark did an excellent job of creating such vacant expressions on the happy bunnies faces, and showing how exasperated Grumblebunny was with his cousins. Anyone who does not suffer fools well should find something to identify with in this book.
This story tells of four bunnies...three very happy bunnies and one cranky one. They are captured by a wolf and about to be eaten when Grumblebunny hatches a plan.
The illustrations are expressive, if not a tad bit sinister. The story is mediocre.
With or without funny voices and a great narrator, this book has had me in stitches since I was very young. The endless optimism of Pretty, Cuddlemop, and Sweetsnuffle is inspiring, and Grumblebunny's healthy dose of pessimism and awareness is also a learning opportunity to be aware of red flags in life. Sometimes it doesn't hurt to be a little grumbly :)
We just got this from the library and oh my goodness have we laughed and laughed each night reading this! Very cute, especially if you do voices. I have Van practically rolling off my lap with this book, in fact the first night I brought it downstairs for Jared to read after we were done b/c it was so fun.
This book was pointless. First you have 3 very naive bunnies, who might as well puke rainbows and sunshine, then you have their grumpy cousin, who just wants to go to bed. The characters have strange names, and it is hard to read aloud. And truly, I was just annoyed with the stupidity of the happy bunnies.
