Christy Clarkson finds herself at an exclusive charity auction where she's agreed to be one of the participants who will be auctioned off and will share a weekend for two at a resort hotel with the high bidder. There is added intrigue when she learns that members of an elite kink club are participating in the auction.
Years ago, she broke up with Zach Nikas when she found his pictures of bound women. She was naïve about what his bondage interests meant and she ran from the relationship. Ever since she left him she's explored the kink only to discover that it intrigued her, though she never actually participated.
When Zach show up at the auction as a bidder, Christy is exhilarated to see him. No one else stands a chance of winning her over Zach.
Her curiosity about kink is about to become experience.
He's hot and sexy, intelligent and successful, and just happens to have a well-outfitted dungeon. A dungeon where Christy learns what Zach and "play" are all about.
This is a 30,000-word novella + excerpts, sure to light your world on fire.
This was a short ok read. Christy Clarkson finds herself at an exclusive charity auction where she’s agreed to be one of the participants who will be auctioned off and will share a weekend for two at a resort hotel with the high bidder. Years ago, she broke up with Zach Nikas when she found his pictures of bound women. When Zach show up at the auction as a bidder, Christy is exhilarated to see him. No one else stands a chance of winning her over Zach is hot and sexy, intelligent and rich. I had a few problems with this book like the fact that after a scene there is no aftercare, no snuggling although the sex was hot. At times I didn't like Christy she was too unsure for me she didn't know what she wanted. Also there was not a lot of build up. Overall this was just an ok read for me.
Though I enjoyed reading it enough, it wasn't really anything special. There were about half a dozen grammar errors, mostly relating to tense, and in such a short work, those errors stood out more than they otherwise would have.
The auction to which the title refers was over fairly quickly, and the weekend at a resort which couples won was never referred to again. Too bad. It could have made for some intriguing situations.
Once the couple hooked up, there was too much time spent describing the toys and paraphernalia and his dungeon, and a lot of time on the female lead's intellectual responses, but hardly any time spent on how he was reacting, and very little time spent on actual sex. If I recall correctly, there are in reality only two sex scenes in the entire book, and most of both of them is spent talking about the toys and how gladly she is submitting to his will. I like to read about kink as much as anyone else, but this wasn't really very well done. I like to know that both people are enjoying the foreplay and the sex.
There's not really much buildup to the relationship, and the end of the story feels kind of tacked on, as if she'd run out of toys to describe and needed to end the book gracefully.
Someone else mentioned that this story was only good for eliciting a physical reaction. I didn't even get that much out of it. It really was an interesting concept/premise, one I wish the author had taken more time to explore.
I would give this book one star for grammar and 4 stars for the story. I decided I would give it 3 stars due to liking the story so much.
The BDSM in Sold is what I would consider more harsh then it most books and there were a lot of toys not normally put in most BDSM books. Some women may find some of the situations to be considered wrong, but I found the chemistry between Christy and Zach to be exceptionally hot. Not to mention, I always get a kick out of reading auctions in BDSM books (not the slave types). I think the anticipation in SOLD is almost comical. Christy is in her head worrying Zach won't bid on her and she doesn't even know the dom/sub game has already started.
I gave this book a three star because it was bought as a volume that included three additional stories so I have the additional appeal towards it... I have mixed feelings about the sex scenes. They were detailed enough but a little over the top in regards to being extreme (more like extremely painful). I liked the fact that the male character wasn't out to sow his oak everywhere and that he was determined to pursue her. I did think highly of the story because it did not include a 19 + virginal airhead. The lead female seemed know when to cut losses and leave. The ending came quickly enough, too soon in my personal opinion with the offering of a lifetime with him.
What a great way to ease someone who wants to learn more about bdsm stories but it isn't something that is read all of the time. SOLD, offers the best of both worlds. I loved all of the explanations of the whys of what was happening almost as he was walking me through it while it happened. The relationships of a Dom/sub are complex but also very loving and this book was a great way to showcase that. I thought this book was a great combination of an erotica, a romance and a book about friendships.
I thought this was an interesting read, but there were some things that pulled me out of the story a bit, especially the sacrifice the hero made for the heroine in the end; that felt a bit childish and made me dislike her. Also, I think my personal preferences showed (I could never allow a man to dictate life choices such as what to wear, but to each their own) and took me out of the world being built.
Overall, it didn't turn me off and I went on to check out the rest of the series.
Obvious mistakes with the character's actions, poor writing and unlikeable hero and heroine completely turned me off of this book. I struggled to make it through the whole thing and am concerned about the other books by this author. I'm really hoping they get better and that I didn't waste my money.
A nice quick BDSM read. I enjoyed it for the most part but sometimes I felt disconnected from the characters. A few parts was kind of slow and some parts felt rushed. All in all it was just an average read for me I am sure there are readers that loved this book because it did have some great elements to it. I will read more from this author because her stories have quality to them.
3.75 out of 5. A good read and written in such a way that it will introduce many to the concepts of BDSM as they work through the "introduction" of the heroine into a world she had misunderstood and previously rejected. A very good love story.
Possibly the best one out of the six other novels I've read by this author so far. I felt the connection, the emotions, everything. It was truly a kinky little love story. I enjoyed reading and uncovering more about the couple, especially as they faced their fears. It was beautiful.
Funny I read this book pretty much on one setting late one night, Just a quick and pretty hot book (BDSM)and with a happy ending!Oh and it was free on Amazon!(think if I had seen this book cover tho I might not have read it HAHAHA)
I like reading about how two persons in love get together again and how they finally make it work. I liked Zach and Christy, they were meant to be. The way the plot developed was ok, and I really liked how Zach does everything he can to have Chrity back in his life.
Good read to pass the time. The story seemed to be missing big chunks but they weren't really needed, so why were they there? The Henry guy and all that wasn't needed; The auction and our hero, never explained ; The photography thing, we as it only there to cause a rift?
Not a fan, the story seemed rush and the characters almost predictable. I also found that for my tastes there was too much sex and not enough of the characters.
A quick short enjoyable story. Since it was a short story you really did not get a lot of character development, but the lack of character development was not a big deal. I still liked the story.
I sort of have a love/hate relationship with this book. It took me far too long to read it and that was for many reasons. I just didn’t know how to connect to anyone in this book. First, you have a woman that stormed out on a man because she found his bondage gear. Only to be faced with him again, after researching in their time apart and suddenly is game on for all things bondage.
I get that.
I honestly do.
I was that woman.
I reached.
I saw,
I wanted.
I was rearing to go!
However, I didn’t just dive in head first. I had a steady progression. I guess that is where the fantasy came in. Which, in all honesty I would have been able to roll with. I was hot for all things that this book had to offer as far as the BDSM lifestyle was concerned. However, the full story did not deliver for me. The conflict was silly and unbelievable. You can accept ultra kinky bondage but you can’t accept he is a BDSM photographer every not and again? That just didn’t make sense to me. I never connected to the leave female which left the book dry for me. If I don’t connect to the female lead I’m left bored, drifting, and just putting myself in her place. Only this woman made silly choices most of the time. Her inner thoughts I found myself eye rolling at times.
Did I love the male lead?
When he was a Dom, yes.
When he was just a man, no.
There were a lot of inconsistencies. For example she had on a ring gag and managed to start talking without any mention of taking off the ring gag or any pain involved with said ring gag coming off. (He had given her some forced oral, made her wear it while almost reaching peak, and then she could bite her lip and talk. Trust me I double checked no mention of said gag coming off.) Then a scene she had a ball gag on and came ‘bite the inside of her lip’. Now, I have a ball gag. I checked if I could bite the insdie of my cheek with a ball gag on and couldn’t. I normally LOVE Jaymie aka Cheyenne McCray and her BDSM style books.
I was just disappointed and sad this one failed me.
