This book is a must-have for any design aficionado, featuring José Guadalupe Posada's amazing illustrations for "penny chapbooks," which were published in large numbers for the consumption of a growing public of literate but poorly educated Mexicans in the last quarter of the nineteenth century.

Posada is a stunning illustrator and woodcut printmaker. He was the forerunner of many of the extrordinary Mexican artists creating political illustration today. This book, a small publication published by Editorial RM recalls the former FMR magazine in it's beautiful production and design while portraying this artist in a rich way.

non-calavera posada. chapbook illustrations highlight wonderful text/image design dexterity. (regardless, i seriously need to temper my growing addiction to buying art monographs)...
