**** POSSIBLE SPOILER ALERT ****

I received Shadow Born from Author Jamie Sedgwick herself, to read and then give my unbiased review of her novel.

Thank you once again Jamie for the wonderful opportunity to read one of your novels, this being book #1 of the Shadow Born Trilogy. “Shadow Rising” is #2 (which I have already read and reviewed with great pleasure) and actually read first also for review. Reading “Shadow Born” second (ya I know it can be a bit confusing) actually was kind of a interesting turn of events for me, because I normally try to read series in the order of sequence….

Shadow Born is another fantastic read, and can very well be a stand alone book with it’s spectacular storyline packed full of suspense, thrills and cliff hangers that has you ready to turn the pages before you’ve actually finished reading the one you’re on, just to be ready for what’s coming around the corner next!!!!

~THE BOY WITHOUT A PAST~

12 year old Gabriel is found on a dark road on a very stormy night by a very wealthy couple as they are returning home to Winscfield Manor (their home)
He seems just like any normal 12 year old, except Gabriel’s back was/is covered with scars like those from a ship… he also has a very unusual birthmark in the shape of a star on his shoulder; later it is found that Gabriel also has a tracking device under his finger nail. But most concernedly is that he has no memory of his past.
Reeves and Julia the wealthy couple who rescued Gabriel that fateful night take him into their home with promises to keep him safe as they help him unravel his mysterious past and memory loss…. And to help him locate his parents. Things all around just don’t seem as they appear to be….. Ummmm

1. Where are his parents?
2. Who actually are the couple with the strange behavior that found Gabriel?
3. Why memory of his past or of who he is?
4. Where or how did he get the scars across his back?
5. What does the birthmark mean?

Gabriel is plunged head first into a world where no one can be trusted!!! Although his new friends at the manor try desperately to prepare him for the strange chain of events that lie ahead if him, it seems at times that they may already be to late as a world of nightmarish twist and turns filled with paranormal phenomena, shadowy monsters, evil cruel villains and dark secrets/conspiracies rise up to challenge/face him at every turn along the way. (I‘m dizzy just writing about it, poor Gabriel)

As you follow the wild journey in finding out who and what Gabriel actually is, you will be intrigued to find a futuristic plot of genetically altered DNA, amazing very useful weapons and monsters that when they are all combined, you’ll find yourself smack in the middle of a phenomenal exploration in time or though time.

Jodi, Pete, Reeves, Julia and Flannigan take the journey with Gabriel right beside him (well mostly right beside him)… each are vital for what they know as they face the Shadow Lords with the many crazy - creepy monsters.
Gabriel has a destiny to fulfill; to save the world from the Shadow Lords, but begins to wonder if he is actually one of them???? A Shadow Kind .

The Shadow Born Trilogy is a phenomenal futuristic fantasy to sit back, and take the ride along with the amazing characters of this trilogy. A MUST READ

Good read with focus on teens as the main characters.

Was not sure what to expect when I started reading. I had read some other stories written by Jamie Sedgwick silk I wasn't surprised when I actually got into the story and was enjoying the action scenes and the interaction oh the characters. I'll read the rest of the trilogy because I can't stand not finishing a story.

This was a well-written enjoyable fantasy set in the modern world yet surrounded by mystery and monsters.

It did feel a little 'off' at times - not quite believable and for a very young audience - and yet at other times, it was horrific...torture and brainwashing and more sophisticated.

However, the characters fit well into the story; some quite intriguing and the plot was satisfactory.

An entertaining read.

I am currently loving Jamie Sedgwick books but Apple Books are only offering the first in each series .. this is terrible as Amazon is not available in the Canary Islands where I live .. hard to believe but true .. please offer the rest of the series through Apple Books .

I really enjoyed this book, I am going to read the next one. when the end of the book arrived I was surprised. Some book endings leave a hole which cannot be filled until the next book is out. With this book, the ending was great. No hole...but a desire to become of their lives again
