Mike Crowson does a nice job weaving his charators and locations from his Withcmoor series of novels into his Edge series. He always does a great job telling stories that are a mashup of occult and detective story.
I believe his work is self-published, so if typos annoy you then steer clear. All of his books need better editing.

Much better than the first one. I still love the style of writing and the premise of the story line. I do like that the "side-kick" is an LGTB character. I am going to have to get the next one and see what happens.
