A beautiful representation of Julie Gold's song, "From A Distance". Used as a children's book in teaching it helps students understand from where poetry comes, how it can be taken from the written word and turned into a song sung by a famous person, and become a musical hit. Truly inspiring read during our dark and war-torn times of the early 21st century. Some things just never change. We learned the song, combined it with another really beautiful song, sung by Karen Carpenter, added the poem in the background, and it turned out really well. Gives me goosebumps.
In our house, we adore Jane Ray's work. I love that my seven-year-old son recognized her work so thoroughly and so quickly that he pulled out his copy of her illustrated Happy Prince to compare the books before I even had a chance to read this story with him.
