Addy Corwin is a florist with an attitude. A bad attitude, or so her mama says, 'cause she's not looking for a man. Mama's wrong. Addy has looked. There's just not much to choose from in Hannah, her small Alabama hometown. Until Brand Dalvahni shows up, a supernaturally sexy, breathtakingly well-built hunk of a warrior from—well, not from around here, that's for sure. Mama thinks he might be European or maybe even a Yankee. Brand says he's from another dimension.
Addy couldn't care less where he's from. He's gorgeous. Serious muscles. Disturbing green eyes. Brand really gets her going. Too bad he's a whack job. Says he's come to rescue her from a demon. Puh-lease. But right after Brand shows up, strange things start to happen. Dogs talk and reanimated corpses stalk the quiet streets of Hannah. Her mortal enemy Meredith, otherwise known as the Death Starr, breaks out in a severe and inexplicable case of butt boils. Addy might not know what's going on, but she definitely wants a certain sexy demon hunter by her side when it all goes down. . .

Demon Can't Help It
A Demon...Not Just In Bed

Maksim Kostova has no idea why he's so drawn to feisty mortal Jo, but he does know how she feels about the supernatural. Forget about her accepting him for what he really is, she'd never even believe him in the first place. Or would she? Kathy Love has been labeled "a character-driven author, who prefers complex subjects that add an emotional, humorous edge" by Romantic Times. Originally from Maine, she now resides in Maryland with her daughter, Emily, their Boston Terrier, and six cats, all black. And five of which came with her boyfriend. So he's the crazy cat guy.
Score! I was planning on getting So I Married A Demon Slayer and Demon Hunting In Dixie was on my wish list (people had been chatting favorably on the Amazon PNR forum), so even though I've already read Demon Can't Help It, I was ecstatic to find this deal.
----------------------------------------------------------------------------- Demon Hunting in Dixie by Lexi George ----------------------------------------------------------------------------- A night run in a park puts Addy in the sights of a supernatural bad guy, garners her a hot protector from another dimension and leaves her more than human herself - mama is not going to be pleased.
This one was pretty darn funny, and oh so impossible to explain. The dialog is rapid and (though I can't speak this myself being a So Cal girl) apparently has the flavor of the South. Think Shelly Laurenston's sass without the crass and homicidal females, upped a notch. Part of what makes this so fun is that author George has a pretty impressive vocabulary to boot, in both the formal and in the amazing assortment of humorous slang for significant body parts and doing 'it'. The first two thirds of the book was a total crack up, it does slow down a bit towards the end as the demon makes his move and the heroine prepares to lose her heart knowing that the hero is not hers to keep. But still a chuckle worthy read overall. I'll be looking for book 2 and side character Evie's happily ever after.
----------------------------------------------------------------------------- So I Married a Demon Slayer ----------------------------------------------------------------------------- This collection has three devilish romances and in addition to George's 'Dixie' short, has offerings by Kathy Love, and Angie Fox.
Hot! by Love, has an aspiring fashion photographer trying to get a break takes a mail room job at the industry's most successful magazine, and discovers that the fashion business is truly hell - this one has an odd sort of dreary beginning - the glamor of the mail room is everything that you'd imagine - but picks up when the photographer meets a super model whose life is not so super, both of the pair are truly likeable and the story is much more enjoyable when after they hook up, but the ending is so abrupt that, even for a short story, it felt like a chapter or two was lopped off of the ending. Edited to add - Okay, it took me a while to connect the dots, but this looks like a prequel to Love's upcoming Devilishly Hot, so even though this pair aren't the leads in the book, maybe we'll see more of them there.
What Slays in Vegas by Fox, is connected to her [[ASIN:1463558309Demon Slayer]]series- though there is no road kill cuisine - A celibate Demon Slayer gets caught up in the moment with a half succubus at a Vegas club containing a portal to hell - transition from enemy to lover for the demon slayer is a a bit quick but I liked the succubus and her friends. I am a book behind on the series and have a feeling that the Demon Slayer might be a side character in Dangerous Book for Demon Slayers, so this one will probably be more fun for fans.
The Bride Wore Demon Dust by George - set in George's Demon Hunting in Dixie's Hannah Alabama - Their new life together gets off to a hellacious start, when a demon possessed photographer tries to kill the bride and she discovers that her new husband is not human either - this was my favorite of the three shorts. It manages to pack a in a fair amount of story and a healthy dose of the offbeat humor that made George's Demon Hunting in Dixie so irreverently fun.
----------------------------------------------------------------------------- Demon Can't Help It by Kathy Love ----------------------------------------------------------------------------- The selfish sensual demon Maksim from (Any Way You Want It, I Want You To Want Me) is still hunting for his sister, but he gets a bit distracted from his search by Jo relocates to New Orleans who, unlike all other living breathing human females, completely ignores him. The bruises to his ego fuel Maksim's pursuit of Jo, but his attraction to her takes on a life of his own and soon he's not acting very demonish at all.
I do so love it when bad boys go good. Author Love does an excellent job with Maksim, as his initial shallow motives become more complicated and he has to deal with the bewilderment of handling all of his new undemonlike feelings and *gasp* Maksim, the prince of the eight circle of h*ll, is forced to cope with Jo's multiple rejections. And though Maksim's positive a demon can't fall in love, it isn't long before he's doing a pretty good imitation.
