Do you remember the early Bake Off episodes where, to fill time, Mel and/or Sue would be sent off to some far-flung corner of Europe to talk about a bake specific to that place? Well, here it is in book form. Though focused specifically on Britain and, with a shaky start into Saxon cakes, 'Cake' gets into the swing of things at the Victoria Sandwich and keeps moving on up - even sparing a moment to chat about Colin v Cuthbert, the biggest legal thrill our nation had experienced until Vardy v Rooney. It's all rather twee and British, but it's good fun. Plus, it'll make you want a slice of cake, which is hardly a bad thing.

interesting, niche non fic that i enjoyed
