I have to be honest, I did struggle to finish this, mainly due to the narrator but also because I felt it was a dry list of historical and more recent murders.

I appreciate the research that is behind the book as the cases listed were a fair amount but I felt it lacked something, leaving me a bit dry.

I think most of my feeling also comes from the poor narration.. There was too emphasis on some sentences at times, and none in others were it was really needed. But most of all it felt like the narrator was reading the book for the first time whilst recording.

I feel sorry as I think this book has potential and maybe reading it instead of listening to it will leave me with a different experience.

Thank you to the authors for the opportunity to listening to it and this is my honest review.

Evans has combed the annals of crime to find many stories I'd never heard of before. From the US to Canada and Europe to Asia, she found stories of kidnap, murder and disappearances. Most are solved, some are unsolved to this day.

All together it's a very interesting collection and there's a lot of information packed in even if each story is only a few pages. There were some stories that were written slightly better than others, but overall the author stuck to giving the facts and the outcomes.

A good choice for fans of true crime that goes beyond the ones we've all heard about.

This was a really interesting book. Each chapter was about a different crime. There were a few crimes that I was familiar with before reading this book, but there were a lot that were new to me. Being a true crime fan, it's always nice to find a book that covers crimes I don't know about. I do think it would have been helpful to the reader to have the year and location at the beginning of each chapter. I listened to the audiobook version. The narrator had a good voice for narration and was easy to listen to. There were a couple spots where there were sentences repeated, which I assume is an editing thing. Overall, a good listen.

3.7 stars These are some crimes that while many are well known and with very diverse in types of murderers, they are both international and from the US. They are briefer than many true crime anthologies I've read. In some of the longer stories they added new information I was completely unaware of which was a nice surprise. There were some unsolved mysteries - something I really don't enjoy reading. If you're new to true crime this book then many of the stories will be new to you and you can research more based on the citations at the end of each chapter.

Unfortunately this one was just not my cup of tea. I love true crime and I love learning about new things within true crime but this one didn't catch my attention. I found myself wanting more depth to the stories.

Chapter 20 and 24 are the same story!!!
However, that didn’t deter me from loving this true crime book. I absolutely am captivated by true crimes and devoured this book. Highly recommend if you love true crime. So many interesting stores. I actually read this book twice without realizing it.
